Chapter 628 Despicable Antonio!
James began to explain, "Our company developed a project in Crystal Haven Valley a couple of years ago. At that time, a worker died due to the construction team's mistake."
Sarah's sense of foreboding grew stronger, and she frowned, asking, "And then?"
A couple of years ago, that was when Antonio was still with the Valencia family.
But there was a human life involved!
He continued to recall, "This project was personally developed by Mr. Valencia. At that time, the construction team leader was severely punished, and the victim's family was compensated."
James had read this morning's news and said, "The matter was handled well back then, and the family had no complaints. Mr. Valencia managed to suppress the news."
With gritted teeth, he added, "But somehow, this matter has resurfaced now."
The news was released by an official media outlet.
Now, it's being discussed online again!
Sarah's hand on the table trembled involuntarily. She clicked on the content on the screen, which not only mentioned that the Valencia family had a fatal accident during construction but also that they used their power to cover it up.
There were even photos of the accident scene.
Sarah's hand suddenly loosened, and the tablet fell onto the table.
James looked at her worriedly and said, "Ms. Miller!"
"I'm fine." Sarah glanced at him dazedly, and wiped her face with her hand to clear her mind as she asked, "Where's Bob?"
Bob called out to her, "Ms. Miller!"
Before James could answer, Bob's voice came from the office door.
He looked unusually serious, holding a voice recorder as he hurried in, and said, "I have found evidence! The previous issue with The Jerrett Group's fabric was deliberately amplified by people from the Harrington Group! They leaked it to the media to smear us!"
Sarah thought she had misheard and said, "What did you say?!"
Bob was still indignant and said angrily, "Just listen to this, and you'll understand!"
From the beginning, he felt something was off, so he used his connections to investigate secretly, and he did find something!
Sarah turned on the voice recorder, and it was people from the Harrington Group instructing the media on how to manipulate public opinion.
The male voice inside sounded familiar, like she had heard it somewhere before.
It occurred to her that it was Rex's voice, the one who came to deliver something last night!
So, all of this was arranged by Benjamin!
Sarah felt a dull pain in her chest.
She couldn't understand why he would do this, and it didn't benefit him at all!
The projects between the Harrington Group and The Jerrett Group were already deeply integrated, it was a win-win situation.
Why would he suddenly do this?!
At this moment, Sarah knew she had to see Benjamin.
She took a deep breath and stood up, saying, "No, I need to go to the Harrington Group again."
This time, the receptionist was the same girl as last time. When she saw Sarah, she awkwardly said "Ms. Miller, our business manager is at the factory."
"I'm not here for the business manager today." Sarah remained expressionless and said, "I'm here to see Mr. Harrington. Please make an appointment for me."
Two employees sat down right behind Sarah while waiting.
One of them said, "Orlando Wolf is coming back soon. Let's wait in the lobby for a bit."
Sarah's eyebrows twitched slightly.
Mr. Wolf was the one who signed the fabric contract on behalf of the Harrington Group with The Jerrett Group!
Sarah instinctively listened in, and sure enough, the two were discussing the recent turmoil.
One of them remarked, "I wonder when this will blow over. Now we have to go out every day to deal with those media reporters."
The other blamed, "It's all because of the company's decisions!"
The speaker unconsciously lowered their voice, but Sarah still clearly heard the next part.
One of the employees complained, "You don't work in the production department, so you wouldn't know. The issue about the fabric this time isn't even that serious. The defects in that batch were within reasonable limits. I don't know what the higher-ups were thinking, blowing this out of proportion. It's us lower-level employees who suffer."
Their complaints and grumbles continued, but Sarah's mind was in chaos.
So, Bob was right.
This crisis for The Jerrett Group was deliberately caused by the Harrington Group.
But in such a massive corporation like the Harrington Group, who else but Benjamin would have the power to do something so harmful to others?
It could only be Benjamin!
Who else but Benjamin could have done it?!
She had long heard that Benjamin was ruthless in business, using any means necessary. She had overlooked this fact!
Sarah felt as if a mountain was pressing on her chest. She had just been wondering if Bob had made a mistake in his investigation.
But reality was slapping her in the face.
Just then, the receptionist came to inform her.
The receptionist announced, "Ms. Miller! The CEO will see you now."
Sarah stood up abruptly, striding towards the elevator with an aggressive aura.
Benjamin stood up after finishing his call.
The floor-to-ceiling window was clean and transparent.
He adjusted his hair, and straightened his suit collar meticulously, and only after confirming everything was perfect did he sit back on the sofa. His long legs shifted into several positions before finally settling with crossed legs, looking both lazy and extraordinarily elegant.
He smiled with satisfaction, eagerly watching the office door.
Before long, there was a knock on the door.
The receptionist politely informed, "Mr. Harrington, Ms. Miller is here."
Benjamin quickly picked up the document on the table, pretending to be engrossed, his face showing a nonchalant expression, and said, "Let her in."
Sarah stormed in, immediately spotting Benjamin lounging on the sofa. His black suit made him look noble, his long legs exuding a sense of sturdiness.
But she had no time to admire him. She averted her gaze and coldly demanded, "Mr. Harrington, I don't know what the Valencia family did to offend you, but is it worth scheming against us? You, Mr. Harrington, don't you feel ashamed of using such despicable tactics?"
Benjamin was momentarily stunned by her obviously angry tone.
"When did I ever target you?" he replied, bewildered.
The previous issue had been resolved, and that was The Jerrett Group's problem. Now the Valencia family was in trouble again!
Sarah didn't know that Benjamin hadn't seen today's news yet and thought he was being hypocritical.
"I never thought you would be this kind of person!" The more she thought about it, the angrier she got. She shouted, "Dare to do but not to admit, you're so despicable and shameless!"
Benjamin threw the document onto the table, equally infuriated, saying, "Why don't you tell me how despicable and shameless I am?"
