Chapter 525 Dear Daddy

It wasn't until Antonio opened the box that Sarah gasped in shock at the sight of a pair of rings inside. "I thought I threw these away. Did you find them?"

"Yes." Antonio took out Sarah's ring, reached for her hand, and delicately slid the ring onto her ring finger. "This is the best gift you ever gave me. Of course, I had to find it."

Sarah's eyes suddenly stung as she noticed the bloodstain on his hand from where Serene had stepped on him.

"Let me help you with yours."

She reached for the other ring and took the initiative.

Antonio looked at her movement, surprised, feeling as if his heart was stuffed with cotton—swollen yet warm. "Sarah..."

Carefully, Sarah slipped the ring onto his long fingers, being extra cautious around the tender, reddened skin as if she were afraid of hurting him.

"Sarah... Let's make sure we do well from now on, okay? Whether in life or death, let's not part again."

His voice was cautious, as if fearful of rejection, yet he mustered all his courage. "From now on, I promise to never keep secrets from you. I'll put you and our children first and protect you with my life. What happened today... That will never happen again."

His soft voice carried a firm promise.

Sarah had a feeling of wanting to cry. "Okay."

What was not to be okay with? In the face of death, what were past grievances?

As long as the one she loved was by her side, healthy and well, she could let bygones be bygones. If necessary, she would reset her memories and start anew.

Glancing to the side, she saw Kevin still unconscious but now in the safe hands of his bodyguards and seemingly out of danger.

She couldn't ask for anything more.

Hearing her affirmative answer, Antonio couldn't help but feel his heartbeat quicken as he pulled her into a tight embrace, tears of joy streaming down his face.

Serene lay pinned to the ground by two bodyguards, her face grinding against the gravel, her gaze still fiercely fixed on the family of three.

'Kevin... Antonio, Sarah!

'Why them? Why, after everything that's happened, do they still get to stand there, whole and together?!'

"Antonio!" Serene spat out his name through clenched teeth, her face contorted in rage. "Don't you wonder who's been backing me? How I can be so powerful even though I'm wanted? Aren't you curious who supports me in opposing you?!"

Without looking back, Antonio tucked a stray hair behind Sarah's ear and shot Serene a murderous glare. "Save that talk for the judge," he said with venom.

Then he stood, lifted Sarah in his arms, and made ready to leave.

Sarah's arms reflexively wrapped around his neck as she peered at the snarling Serene, her brows knitted in concern.

She couldn't shake the feeling that this wasn't the end of their troubles for some reason.

Serene's gaze followed the retreating figures, a flash of madness sparking in her eyes.

In a fit of hysteria, she burst into laughter, so loudly that Antonio halted in his tracks.

"Leaving? No one's getting out of here today!"

With surprising strength, Serene broke free from the bodyguard's grasp, not even considering escape, and then viciously tore off her burgundy coat—the sight underneath caused everyone to gasp in shock!

"Look out! She's got a bomb!" the two bodyguards in front shouted, immediately shielding Antonio and Sarah with their bodies.

Antonio and Sarah's eyes contracted at the sight of the row of explosives strapped to Serene's waist, disbelief written all over their faces. She had prepared for this eventuality with a chilling resolve.

Serene had truly lost it! She had lured everyone here with no intention of letting them leave alive!

James felt a surge of panic and quickly turned to the bodyguard next to him. "Aren't you an expert in this field? Go check if that's a real bomb!"

Nodding, the bodyguard approached cautiously.

Serene watched them, her eyes bloodshot and wild, hair tangled across her damp face. It was unclear whether it was sweat or tears, but her expression was filled with grim, obsessive finality.

The bomb was real! Nobody would leave since she had failed today; each one would be her companion in death!

Even in the afterlife, she wouldn't let Antonio and Sarah have peace!

The bodyguard, now in front of her, had checked the device with grim seriousness and reported in horror, "Mr. Valencia... the bomb is real!"

As he spoke, beads of cold sweat formed on his forehead, his voice shaking. "And... it's armed with a sophisticated mechanism. We can't disassemble it on the spot!"

A chill settled over everyone present as his words sank in.

If the bomb were to detonate, would any of them get out alive?

"Hahaha! Did you really think you could come up with a solution so fast? Impossible!" Serene boasted, a triumphant cackle in her voice. "It's not just that you can't defuse it—only I can trigger it!"

The bodyguard's expression slackened with shock, then turned even more somber as he examined her closely. He turned back to report, his expression grim, "Mr. Valencia, the bomb doesn't have a traditional detonator. It must be set off by a specific trigger, like a precise sound command..."

His voice trailed off, yet every word was clearly heard by each person present.

Antonio's expression had turned icy.

If looks could kill, Serene would be riddled with holes by now!

Unflinchingly, she locked eyes with him, still exuding madness.

"Oh Antonio, I didn't expect one of your guys to be so clever—guessing the trigger so easily..." Her voice suddenly sharpened. "Now that you've figured it out, let me go this instant! Or I swear, I'll set off this bomb, and we'll all go down together!"

Antonio took a deep breath and gave a look to his bodyguard.

The person who had been restraining Serene carefully stepped back, eyes fixed on her every move.

Oblivious to their caution, Serene took two steps towards Kevin.

She knew that neither Sarah nor Antonio would leave Kevin in danger!

"What's it going to be, Antonio? I just can't stand seeing you with another woman in front of me, so now… You and Sarah need to separate! Move further apart! If you want to get off this mountain alive, go ahead and run! I wouldn't mind blowing up my dear 'daddy', taking him with me on this last journey!"
