Chapter 587 Covetousness and Envy

Sarah's eyes twitched, and she answered the call.

"Ms. Miller, congratulations on joining the Pine Mountain project again. Ms. Miller, you truly have outstanding leadership and abilities!" The person on the other end started with compliments.

Sarah smiled. "It was just good luck."

"Ms. Miller is being modest, but that just shows how capable you are! Other people, even if they have good luck, can't make a big achievement like this."

"It's all thanks to my colleagues at the company," Sarah said in her usual tone.

Both sides complimented each other. The conversation went on and on but finally ended.

However, what Sarah hadn't anticipated was the barrage of phone calls she received in the next half-hour, with over ten individuals attempting to get close to her. It was truly overwhelming.

'This is the influence of the Harrington Group. Just by working with them once, everyone covets and admires them,' she thought.

Before long, the internal phone on the desk rang again.

It was James' voice. "Ms. Miller."

"What is it?" Sarah was already exhausted from answering the phone. "If it's not something important, wait a while before telling me. I almost threw up answering the phone just now."

James hesitated before saying, "It's Mr. Thompson."

It took Sarah a while to react. Mr. Thompson was the leader in charge of this project, the one who got intercepted by Benjamin when they made plans to eat together last time!

She took a deep breath. "Transfer it."

After a while, the voice on the other end of the receiver changed to a more steady male voice. "It's me."

"Mr. Thompson, long time no see."

"Yeah, I didn't expect to contact you so soon." His voice was filled with a smile. "But this also shows that my previous judgment was correct. Valencia Inc. is capable. That's why Mr. Harrington thought of working with you to complete this project."

Sarah quickly said, "You're too kind. The Harrington Group is all about fair competition. Their project planning is indeed more comprehensive than ours."

"If you think that way, then I'm relieved." He laughed twice and then mentioned another matter. "Now that your contracts have been finalized let's go on a field trip to Pine Mountain together tomorrow."

In saying so, it meant that the project would be starting soon.

Sarah understood in her heart. "Okay, Mr. Thompson. Thank you for personally notifying me."

"No trouble at all! It's just a small matter!" Mr. Thompson was very easy to talk to, without any air of leadership. "But you may need to arrange some things in the company. Pine Mountain is still in the mining stage, so we might have to stay at a hot spring hotel on the mountain for a few days."

"Okay, I understand. Thank you, Mr. Thompson."

Sarah couldn't contain her excitement. After hanging up the phone, she leaned back in the seat and let out a heavy sigh of relief, but she could still feel her heart pounding.

Now, everything had been settled.

She couldn't believe she was about to embark on a project with Benjamin, a man of great ability, especially since it was her first time working on this type of project.

For some reason, she felt a bit unsure.

But as long as they succeeded with this case, the reputation of Valencia Inc. would soar.

She rolled up her sleeves and retrieved the planning proposal from the Harrington Group, recently released by the media. With meticulous care, she reorganized and refined many details.

Upon completion, Sarah promptly dispatched the revamped proposal to the Harrington Group's email.

As she awaited Benjamin's reaction, she pondered his potential response. Shaking her head, she questioned why she was preoccupied with this thought.

Nevertheless, regardless of Benjamin's feedback, they were now partners, obligated to consider each other's suggestions.

Just as Sarah was psyching herself up, Benjamin's call came through.

She cleared her throat before answering the phone, "Mr. Harrington."

"You need to come to the appointment in Mystic River Tavern."

Sarah had a vague sense of familiarity with the place, despite never having been there before. Yet, why did he assume she had to go just because he said so? Sarah simply didn't want to.

"Mr. Harrington. I still have work to do. If there's something, can you just tell me over the phone?"

"Of course, it's about work." Benjamin's tone remained the same, cold and arrogant without a hint of emotion. "I have a professional here who specializes in planning similar projects. He can give you some guidance on the proposal you just sent."

Sarah felt a twinge of confusion. Could Benjamin truly be so free? Despite his busy schedule, he promptly responded to the email she had just sent.

Yet, she couldn't deny it: Benjamin had a knack for getting straight to the point.

Professional guidance was precisely what Sarah needed at this moment. Without a doubt, she had to go!

"Alright. Mr. Harrington, please keep them there. I'll come right away!"

Sarah drove and followed the navigation all the way to Mystic River Tavern for her appointment. She hadn't paid much attention to her surroundings until she walked in and realized... this was a private club?

As soon as she entered the lobby, it was full of red lights and wine, which made her frown.

Sarah glanced at her phone, noticing a message from Benjamin with a private room number.

Despite feeling a bit resistant, she reasoned that since she had already come here, it would be a waste not to go. What was there to be afraid of anyway?

Upon entering the private room and pushing the door open, she drew everyone's attention. Sarah observed an issue: nearly every man had a female companion, while Benjamin sat in the innermost corner, his long legs crossed, emitting an intimidating aura that kept others at bay.

It was no wonder the women sat so far away. Sarah rolled her eyes inwardly and reluctantly made her way in.
