Chapter 735 An Unexpected Incident!
Hearing that, the security guard actually felt a bit bad for Paul.
"Mr. White, being a dude ain't easy. Sometimes you just gotta suck it up," he said, trying to be helpful.
Then he added, "Plus, Mrs. White's pregnant, right? It's cool if she's a bit cranky!"
Antonio acted like he was really taking it to heart and even thanked him. He let out a big sigh and said, "Thanks for the advice, man!"
That sigh almost made Sarah crack up on the other end of the phone.
Antonio looked totally wiped out and speechless. He waved to the guard and said, "Alright, time to go calm my wife down!"
As he turned and walked away, he pulled out the shiny diamond earrings, saying to "Rebecca" on the phone, "Got 'em! Don't be mad, babe!"
The guard saw the diamonds sparkle and felt all his doubts vanish, getting a bit emotional.
'So what if he's loaded? He's still scared of his wife!' he thought.
Antonio strolled out of the building, crossed the street like he owned it, and hopped into his car.
Seeing him come out in one piece, Sarah leaned back and let out a big breath.
She said, "That was close. What took you so long?"
Antonio started the car and shrugged, "There was a lot of stuff in there, so I took my time."
Sarah shot him a look and said, "Good thing nothing went wrong."
The security guards were pretty easy to handle. If it had been someone higher up from the Harrington Group, it might've been a different story.
Sarah asked, "So, what was in there?"
Antonio turned the wheel, the streetlights casting flickering shadows on his face.
He replied coolly, "Besides chemicals, there were some things about my mom."
"Your mom?" Sarah frowned. "You don't talk about her much."
"Yeah." Antonio glanced at her and said, "Harold didn't tell me much either."
Sarah was about to say something comforting when Antonio spoke again.
"It's cool, I don't feel much about it. Just think it's important to look into my mom's stuff."
Sarah caught on quick, saying, "You mean, everything Harold's done might be tied to your mom?"
Antonio nodded a bit. "Probably."
Then he added, "But it's not confirmed yet. We'll dig more into it."
Sarah nodded, getting it.
Antonio saw her thoughtful look and gently touched her hair at a red light, saying, "Don't worry, I'm good."
Sarah, feeling a bit exposed, looked at him and said, "No matter what, I'm with you."
Hearing that, Antonio felt a warm fuzzy feeling and smiled.
"Actually, today was a big win for us. At least we got some clues now."
Antonio felt way better than before when they had nothing. At least now he knew the chip's principle and confirmed the stuff was at Harrington Group HQ.
Sarah nodded hard. "Yeah! You're right!"
Antonio looked at the empty road ahead and suddenly turned to her, suggesting, "How about we go for a drive?"
The streetlight hit just right, lighting up his eyes.
Sarah felt a rush of excitement too, agreeing, "Okay! Let's go for a drive!"
Antonio used to be a pro race car driver. It had been ages since he hit the track, and he was feeling that itch, especially after today's finds, which got him all pumped up.
He gripped the steering wheel and glanced at Sarah's belly.
Obviously, Sarah's current condition wasn't fit for a wild ride.
So Antonio stepped on the gas, not too fast, but the cool breeze coming through the lowered windows made them feel refreshed.
He popped the convertible top.
The suddenly expansive view made Sarah laugh out loud.
She shouted, "Ah! We're definitely gonna get better and better!"
Antonio saw her waving hands and heard the words she shouted, his expression softening even more.
'Yeah, we'll definitely get better and better,' Antonio thought.
In the following days, Antonio and Sarah kept using their new identities to hit up more parties and snagged a bunch of contracts from other companies.
They took all of them, saying they'd decide after checking them out.
Overnight, the name "Paul White" caused quite a buzz in Marshall City, becoming a target for many companies to cozy up to.
Meanwhile, Antonio kept coming up with all sorts of excuses to delay the plan with the Harrington Group, which made them more and more anxious.
Sarah glanced at the phone ringing non-stop on the coffee table, asking Antonio, "Are we really just gonna leave them hanging?"
"Yep." Antonio was super chill, saying, "Ignore it."
He believed that the Harrington Group's current reaction meant they'd show more sincerity later, making it easier to uncover their issues.
Hearing this, Sarah decisively hung up the phone, saying, "Then I won't answer any more calls from them."
Elbert, who had been turned down by Antonio twice, somehow got her number and kept calling to invite them for a tour of their company, which was giving Sarah a headache.
Antonio gently helped her tidy her hair, softly saying, "Don't let these people get to you. How about we go out for a walk?"
Hearing that, Sarah's eyes lit up. "Sure!"
Marshall City was an international metropolis.
In the past few days they had been here, they had been dealing with those people and had no time to go out.
She quickly changed her clothes and put on light makeup before linking arms with Antonio and heading out.
At the mall, she looked at the array of stores and suddenly said, "Let's also check out some baby stuff. Time flies, and it won't be long before the baby arrives."
Antonio, of course, agreed, "As long as you're happy."
Sarah visited many maternity and baby stores, unable to resist the cute clothes. In the end, she bought some for both boys and girls but didn't dare to buy too much.
Antonio was already carrying many bags but still encouraged her, "If you like them, why not buy them?"
Sarah glared at him, saying, "I like a lot of things. Should I buy them all? Besides, we don't even know if it's a boy or a girl. Wouldn't it be a waste?"
Hearing that, Antonio chuckled softly, not commenting further.
The two wandered around the mall for a long time until Sarah felt tired and decided to head back.
The car was parked a bit far. She looked at Antonio, who was carrying bags in both hands, and smiled, "Mr. White, need any help?"
They had been calling each other that in front of others for the past few days and had gotten used to it.
Antonio would never let her carry anything and said gently, "Watch your back."
But just as he finished speaking, an accident happened!
