Chapter 869 Drugged!

Sarah nodded in confusion, "Yeah, what's up?"

"I have a great candidate!" Ryan, who had been sulking, finally smiled and clapped his hands, "It's the cafeteria worker I told you about in the car! She's really nice!"

Sarah was taken aback, "Is it the cafeteria worker you mentioned who got fired from the school?"

"Yes!" Ryan's eyes lit up at the thought of helping Lisa, "She should be coming back to the school tomorrow. I can talk to her. Mom, can we help her?"

Seeing the hopeful look in Ryan's eyes, Sarah smiled and patted his head, "Then have her come to the house for an interview tomorrow. If it works out, we'll keep her."

The next day, Ryan waited at the cafeteria entrance for a long time before finally seeing Lisa. He quickly explained the situation at home.

"Don't worry, my dad and mom are really nice people. They'll definitely hire you!"

Lisa, trying to contain her excitement, said, "This... thank you so much!"

She had planned to do something to get Ryan to take her to his house, but this surprise made it so much easier for her to integrate into their lives! She felt incredibly lucky!

"You're welcome." Ryan reassured her a bit more and gave her the address, "I have to go to school this afternoon, so you'll have to go by yourself."

Lisa thanked him again and, after finishing her resignation at the school, eagerly took a cab to the Valencia Villa.

At that moment, Sarah, who had just finished eating, received a message from Ryan. She checked the time and said, "Ryan said the cafeteria worker is already here, but we have an appointment to go to the hospital with Cynthia for a follow-up. It seems like we don't have enough time."

Antonio frowned, "Should we ask her to come for the interview another time?"

Just then, Francis put down his utensils, "No need. You two go to the hospital. I'll handle the interview."

Since Ryan had chosen her, it made sense for him to oversee it.

Sarah sighed in relief, "Thank you, Francis."

Half an hour later, Lisa arrived at the Valencia Villa. An elderly servant opened the door and, upon hearing she was there for an interview, kindly led her inside.

This villa was their new home, and everything exuded elegance and luxury, reflecting the owner's care for the family.

But whether it was Antonio or these surroundings, They should have been hers!

Lisa's heart was in turmoil, but she kept a calm exterior, following respectfully with her head down.

The servant led her to the study and knocked, "Mr. Valencia, she's here."

Francis's clear voice came from inside, "Come in."

"You can go in now. Mr. Valencia will interview you." The servant said kindly and opened the study door for her.

Lisa thanked her politely, suppressing her excitement as she stepped inside. She kept her head down, thinking the person inside was Antonio, and couldn't help but feel nervous.

"Mr. Valencia, hello. My name is Elara, and I'm here for the interview." Lisa said.

Francis put down the document he was holding and said, "Raise your head."

Lisa was taken aback. The voice didn't sound right.

She looked up and saw the man sitting inside. Her pupils suddenly contracted!

How could it be Francis? Wasn't Francis supposed to be dead?

Lisa was shocked, but she maintained a humble and timid demeanor, mustering the courage to explain her background.

Francis nodded understandingly, not noticing anything unusual. "Your main job will be to take care of the family's daily needs. Now, go make two dishes."

Francis's request meant she was halfway through the interview.

Lisa was overjoyed and nodded eagerly.

She quickly made four dishes, all with excellent color, aroma, and taste, and cleaned the kitchen spotlessly.

Francis observed all of this.

Lisa handed him the utensils, nervously saying, "Mr. Valencia, please try them."

Francis's face remained expressionless as he tasted two of the dishes. They were even better than the ones made by the previous cook, Cressida.

After some consideration, he looked up, "Do you have your personal information with you?"

Lisa immediately handed over her perfectly forged documents.

Francis reviewed them for a long time before saying, "Alright, you're hired. The probation period is one month."

"Re... really?" Lisa was momentarily stunned, then happily let out a sigh of relief, bowing with controlled excitement, "Mr. Valencia, thank you so much!"

"No need to thank me. It's your own merit." He called the previous servant and instructed, "Arrange a room for Elara. She'll be staying to help you."

The servant was also pleased. She had watched Lisa cook and saw how efficient she was. "Yes, Mr. Valencia! I'll take her right away."

Francis glanced at the dishes on the table and then turned to leave.

Lisa watched his back, a quick flash of dark intent in her eyes.

That evening, when Sarah and Antonio returned, they casually asked about the interview.

Francis gave a brief summary. "I've had her background checked. There's no issue."

Sarah nodded, "Alright then, that's good."

Just then, the servant called them for dinner, and they headed to the dining room.

Lisa greeted them nervously, still wearing a mask. She kept her head down, greeted them softly, and quickly retreated.

Seeing their puzzled expressions, the servant kindly explained, "Mrs. Valencia, Elara learned about the household situation and knows you're pregnant. She said she should avoid meeting you for now because she has a long scar on her face and doesn't want to upset you."

Sarah was momentarily surprised.

But she appreciated Lisa's thoughtfulness and smiled. "She's quite considerate. No wonder Ryan likes her. Tell her to feel at ease and not be too nervous."

Perhaps it was Ryan's previous story that made Sarah feel some sympathy for Lisa. Plus, her cooking was excellent, and her behavior was impeccable, making Sarah develop a good impression of the new maid. She even instructed the servant to take good care of her.

Lisa smoothly settled in, and everything went according to plan.

That night, she proactively told the servant, "You can rest. I'll take the milk to the kids."

The servant, knowing Lisa was brought in by Ryan, found it normal for her to want to see him more and agreed, "Alright, then you can take care of Mr. Ryan Valencia from now on."

"Yes."

The villa's owners had all retired to their rooms. Once the servant left, Lisa was alone.

She stood in the kitchen, looking outside.

Making sure no one was around, she nervously swallowed and silently took out a packet of powder from her pocket.

This was something Leandro had helped her acquire.

A powerful mind-control drug that was only available abroad.

Those who took it would develop an inexplicable dependence on the person who administered it.
