Chapter 765 Harold is Happy
Dennis jumped at the sudden noise, his face going pale.
"Who's there?"
Antonio found Dennis's wariness amusing.
"Ever heard the saying, 'What you fear will come to pass,' Mr. Barnes?"
Antonio stepped out of the shadows, flanked by a bunch of tough-looking bodyguards, a cold smile playing on his lips. "Guess who I am?"
Dennis stared at Antonio, who had one hand casually in his pocket but still managed to radiate authority. Even though Dennis didn't know Antonio, he had a pretty good idea why he was here.
Years of shady dealings had led to this moment.
Sweat poured down Dennis's face as he tried to make a run for it, but the bodyguards quickly tackled him to the ground.
"What do you want?" he spat out, teeth clenched. "I don't know anything! Catching me won't help you!"
"Oh?" Antonio drawled, looking down at him. "I haven't even told you what I want. How do you know catching you is useless? Maybe I just don't like you and want you gone."
Antonio pulled out a knife, twirling it expertly before pressing it against Dennis's throat.
Dennis's eyes went wide with terror.
Antonio chuckled, straightened up, and put the knife away.
"Relax. I just want to chat, Mr. Barnes. You don't mind, do you?"
Antonio's smile only made Dennis shiver more.
Dennis couldn't say a word, collapsing as the bodyguards dragged him away.
Antonio sneered, "Mr. Barnes, it's pretty peaceful here. Nice place."
Two bodyguards hauled Dennis upstairs. Antonio followed slowly, taking in the room before sitting down in a chair.
He looked at the trembling Dennis on the floor and said, "Mr. Barnes, I know you're smart. Let's skip the nonsense. Just tell me what you know, and we can avoid any unpleasantness."
Dennis's lips quivered. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"Still stubborn?" Antonio's eyes flashed dangerously. "Do you need my men to teach you a lesson?"
Dennis shivered, and the next second, the bodyguards dragged him outside. Agonizing screams followed.
Antonio didn't even blink.
After a while, Dennis was thrown back in, blood trickling from his mouth. Antonio looked at him with disdain. "Mr. Barnes, ready to talk now?"
Dennis lay on the ground, shaking. He didn't know who these people were, but he knew they were serious.
He thought of Harold, the man he'd worked for all these years.
He resented Harold. He never wanted to work for him, but Harold forced him into it, leaving him no choice.
Sure, he made a lot of money, but he had to live in hiding.
His wife and son lived in a big house, but to keep them safe, he had to live in this dump alone.
He was exhausted after all these years. Antonio was young and powerful. Maybe he could actually take down Harold.
If that was the case, Dennis figured he'd rather work for Antonio.
With that thought, Dennis spat out the blood in his mouth and made up his mind. "I'll tell you everything. A few days ago, I hired a hitman to kill someone in the hospital!"
Antonio sneered, "Who?"
"To kill... the current acting president of the Valencia Group, Sarah!"
Dennis closed his eyes, his insides aching. Antonio seemed to know everything, leaving him no room to deny it.
Even though Sarah was unharmed, hearing Dennis admit it made Antonio's heart race. He kicked Dennis to the ground.
"How dare you try to commit murder. I hope your courage matches your fate!"
Dennis curled up, trembling from the beating.
At that moment, he regretted everything, realizing Antonio might not let him go!
No, he didn't want to die now!
With that thought, cold sweat broke out all over him, and he thought about seeking help from Harold.
He figured, given that he had worked for Harold for so many years, Harold would at least take care of his family.
But Dennis didn't know that Harold was the coldest psychopath of all.
Dennis hunched over, letting out loud wails, and carefully took out his phone from his pocket.
This action didn't escape Antonio's notice.
He stood up, his shiny leather shoes stopping in front of Dennis.
"Mr. Barnes, you're really persistent. Even now, you still want to send a message to Harold?" His voice was icy, making Dennis shiver.
Dennis trembled even more, and the phone fell from his hand.
The emergency contact was already displayed on the screen.
Antonio stepped on his wrist, and the sound of the phone hitting the ground mixed with Dennis's wails.
"Direct contact?"
Antonio picked up the phone and played with it, staring at the number for a while, the coldness in his eyes deepening.
'Harold really knows how to keep these people loyal,' Antonio thought.
"Keep talking." Antonio's face darkened. "Tell me everything you know about Harold, what you've done for him, and how many people work for him. Spill it all! Otherwise, whatever he did to you, I'll do the same!"
Dennis looked into Antonio's cold eyes and had no doubt he meant it.
At that moment, he finally gave up hope and stopped trying to struggle.
"I'll talk."
Antonio signaled to the bodyguard, who immediately turned on the camera on his phone.
Dennis was one of Harold's more trusted people, so he knew some useful information and had done many things for him, which he roughly confessed.
In the end, Dennis shouted, "But I never killed anyone myself! Every time he gave me a task, I recorded it. All the recordings are saved on a USB drive."
Dennis also mentioned two other people who worked for Harold. Like him, they were initially employees of the company, but Harold later hid them in the shadows.
Antonio's eyes were as dark as the night outside as he ordered, "Take him and the recordings to the police station and give them to Larry."
The bodyguard responded, pulled Dennis up from the ground, and left.
Antonio drove home alone, sending a message to inform Sarah about the situation.
At this time, Harold was still unaware that Antonio had obtained the first piece of evidence against him and was happily celebrating "Sarah's" death.
