Chapter 875 Rob
Sarah knew that Cynthia had been hurt before.
But when it came to relationships, only the people involved truly understood.
Whether someone was sincere or not, they could definitely feel it.
"If I always have a suspicious heart, then no matter who I marry, I might not end up happy. Because, as you said, people's hearts are fickle. So what we can do is seize the happiness of the present, right, Cynthia?"
This time, Cynthia didn't argue.
In fact, after spending time together, she also realized that Antonio and Harold were different.
Seeing her expression, Sarah knew that Cynthia's heart had softened. She didn't disturb her thoughts and turned to secretly exchange a glance with Antonio behind her.
When they reached the ward, Antonio opened the door and said gently, "Cynthia, have a good rest. We'll come to see you tomorrow."
Cynthia rolled her eyes at him, but her tone was much better than before, "If you have things to do, go ahead. Why are you spending all day at the nursing home with me?"
"We know!" Sarah took the opportunity to sneak a kiss on her cheek, "But you are the most important, so we have to come see you!"
"You really know how to talk!" Cynthia glanced at her and then turned to look at Antonio.
"Sarah is pregnant now, it's not good for her to be running around here all the time. You should take care of her!" After saying that, she seemed to feel a bit awkward herself and waved them off before entering the ward.
Antonio also felt relieved and affectionately ruffled Sarah's hair, "Thank you, Sarah, for standing up for me in front of Cynthia."
The couple exchanged a smile and walked leisurely hand in hand towards the parking lot.
"Cynthia will be discharged soon. Once we bring her home, our family can finally live together. Then she and Dad can help take care of the kids, and we'll have some time for ourselves."
"Yes." Antonio's heart was filled with warmth, "When the baby is born, I'll take you to all the places I promised."
"Without the kids?"
"No, just the two of us."
They smiled at each other and leaned in for a kiss.
"Sarah, wait here. I'll go get the car from the parking lot and be right back."
Sarah watched Antonio's figure disappear, her face still glowing with happiness. Suddenly, a man wearing a baseball cap and mask appeared beside her, holding a small knife. "Hand over your valuables!"
Startled, she instinctively stepped back, "What... what do you want?"
Was she being robbed?
It was nighttime, and the parking lot outside the hospital was dimly lit with few people around. The security booth was some distance away.
The man's eyes under the cap showed a hint of menace as he stepped closer, "What do you think? Hand over all your valuables!"
"I... I don't have any cash on me." Sarah tried to stay calm, raising her hands while glancing towards the parking lot, "This is a hospital. Do you have some trouble? If your family is sick, I'm willing to help you!"
Where was Antonio? She was pregnant and couldn't run fast!
And the man had a knife. What if he got impulsive and hurt the baby?
Sarah was sweating with anxiety but maintained a calm facade, negotiating with him, "How much do you need? I can transfer it to you via phone."
The man looked at her warily, "Are you planning to call the cop?"
"No, I definitely won't call the cop!"
Sarah indeed had no intention of calling the police. By the time they arrived, it would be too late. She'd rather wait for Antonio!
"Since you're stopping people at a hospital, it must be because your family is in trouble. I'm willing to help you. How much do you need? I'll transfer it to you." No matter what, she needed to stall him! Antonio should be out any moment!
The man hesitated but didn't seem interested in having her transfer money. Instead, he continued to approach, "Do you think I believe you? No money? Then don't come out here flaunting it!"
Seeing the man about to come closer, Sarah suddenly saw a car approaching—it was Antonio!
She shouted, "Antonio!"
The man was startled but still gritted his teeth and lunged at Sarah with the knife.
Sarah quickly dodged to the side, and Antonio hit the man with the car, knocking him to the ground.
"Sarah!" He rushed out of the car, his face full of concern, "Are you okay?"
Sarah's elbow had hit a nearby car, and it hurt, but she was otherwise fine, "I'm okay. Go call the security to catch him, don't let him get away."
At this moment, the security guards, hearing the commotion, ran over. Seeing the man on the ground with a knife, they quickly restrained him.
Antonio's eyes were sharp as blades, "Call the cop!"
The security guard was scared to the extreme, but quickly agreed. "Okay, Mr. Valencia, are you alright?"
If something happened to Antonio here, they wouldn't be able to keep their jobs!
Antonio didn't answer him. He held Sarah in his arms and said coldly, "Tell the cop to check the surveillance footage and handle it accordingly. If there's anything, have them contact me."
Then he looked down at Sarah in his arms and said gently, "Do you want to go inside and get checked?"
Sarah shook her head, "I'm really fine. Let's go home."
She had just bumped herself; some ointment would do.
Seeing that her face showed no signs of distress, Antonio felt relieved and helped her into the passenger seat. He then turned back to give the security guards some instructions and left his contact information.
When they got home, Francis and the kids were in the living room.
Hearing the door open, he turned to see Antonio carefully helping Sarah inside.
He looked up and instructed, "Ethan, bring me the first aid kit."
"What happened?" Hearing the need for a first aid kit, Francis asked worriedly, "Is Sarah hurt?"
Harper and Brian also crowded around with concern, "Mommy, where are you hurt? How did you get hurt?"
"I'm fine." Seeing them all so worried, Sarah let go of Antonio's hand and first looked at Francis, "I just bumped myself, probably a bruise. He's overreacting, don't worry."
Antonio applied iodine to disinfect her wound, his voice gentle and soothing, "Your mommy was a hero today. She encountered a robber and was brave and smart enough to subdue him."
Sarah glanced at him, "Why do I feel like you're mocking me?"
The kids, however, were amazed, "Mommy is so awesome?"
Then they realized it wasn't right.
Brian shook his head seriously, "Mommy, don't be a hero next time. If he wants money, just give it to him. Nothing is more important than safety."
The other two kids agreed, saying safety was the most important.
Sarah sighed, "But I offered him money, and he didn't want it."
She also found it strange. She was a pregnant woman, no threat at all, and had offered to transfer money. Why didn't the man want it?
Francis, who had been silent, stiffened at this.
A robber who didn't want money? There was only one possibility: either the robber was crazy, or he had other motives.
Maybe the robber's real target wasn't money but Sarah herself! To teach her a lesson or to harm her!
Francis couldn't help but think of Guadalupe's previous hostility towards Sarah.
Could it be that he sent someone to do this?
The more he thought about it, the more plausible it seemed. Francis's eyes darkened, and uncontrollable anger rose within him.
