Chapter 736 How Could It Be Her?

Sarah was just minding her own business when this woman popped outta nowhere, barreling through the crowd straight at her.

Right next to them? A busy street, cars zooming by.

If she ran into traffic, she'd be toast!

Sarah thought about stepping aside, but as the woman passed, Sarah quickly reached out and grabbed her firmly.

"Watch out!" she yelled.

Antonio's eyes went wide, and he shouted, "Sarah!"

He dropped everything and sprinted over.

Sarah shook her head, still holding onto the woman. "I'm good, but look at her. Something's off."

The woman was babbling non-stop, clearly not trying to hit anyone, just totally lost.

Antonio checked Sarah over, making sure she was okay, then turned to the woman. "You alright?"

The woman looked spooked and backed off.

Seeing Antonio's worried face, Sarah sighed. "Don't scare her. Let me handle this."

Antonio wasn't having it.

But Sarah stood her ground. "I got this."

Her eyes were steady as she said, "Look, she doesn't seem dangerous. It'll be fine, and you're right here, aren't you?"

Antonio didn't argue, so Sarah turned to the woman. "Ma'am? You okay?"

The woman flinched but didn't back away this time.

Sarah glanced at Antonio, then said gently, "Ma'am, can you tell us where you live? We'll take you home, okay?"

"Home?" The woman echoed, looking totally lost.

Sarah finally got a good look at her face and was shocked. Her eyes went wide.

'Why does she look so familiar?' she thought.

Even though the woman was dirty and seemed out of it, she looked a lot like Sarah's mom, Carol!

Antonio noticed something was up and asked, "What's wrong?"

"She..." Sarah started, but then the woman noticed her swollen belly. She clutched her head in pain.

"Please, don't hurt me!" the woman screamed.

Seeing her so scared, Sarah felt a pang of sympathy.

She gently patted the woman's back. "Ma'am, don't be afraid, okay? I won't hurt you. Can you tell me where you live? We'll take you home."

Under Sarah's soothing voice, the woman started to calm down.

Maybe because Sarah had saved her, the woman seemed to trust her more.

Antonio looked at the hand holding Sarah's, feeling a headache coming on.

He hadn't expected a simple shopping trip to turn into such a mess.

Seeing his impatience, Sarah said, "You might not believe this, but I find it incredible too."

She looked thoughtfully at the woman. "I think she might be related to my mom, Carol."

Antonio's face turned serious.

He pulled out his phone. "I'll get someone to check her out right now."

Sarah didn't even glance at Antonio, instead, she gently pulled the woman aside and fished out a tissue from her bag to clean her face.

Turns out, under all that grime, the woman had a delicate face.

Sarah stared at her for a moment, then reached out and tapped Antonio, who was still on the phone. "Stop calling!"

Antonio looked up, nervous. "What's wrong?"

Sarah's eyes welled up, her voice shaky. "She's... she's my aunt!"

She had a hunch earlier, but since Carol had cut ties with the family ages ago, she never thought her aunt would show up in Marshall City.

But now, with the dirt wiped away, the woman's face looked familiar, especially with that small mole under her eye!

Sarah had never met this aunt, but after reconnecting with Kevin, she'd seen tons of photos of Carol when she was young, including one with her cousin!

Kevin had told her that Carol was close with her cousin and had only taken that photo with her when she escaped from the Miller family.

She never expected her aunt to end up like this.

Antonio was just as shocked. This was too much of a coincidence.

He looked at the woman sitting nearby, dazed and timid. Despite her age, her skin was well-maintained. Antonio couldn't help but wonder what kind of major event could have caused her to lose her mind.

"What's your aunt's name? Let's have someone check it out, okay?" he asked gently.

Sarah wiped her eyes and nodded.

She needed to know what had happened.

She held her aunt's hand tightly and said to Antonio, "My aunt's name is Cynthia."

This name was also written on the back of that photo by Carol.

"Alright." Antonio comfortingly patted her shoulder. "Don't worry, we'll find out what happened to her soon."

Sarah nodded. "Can we take her home first?"

Cynthia's current state made it unsafe for her to be outside.

And they didn't know where she was living now.

Just as this thought crossed her mind, a few people in white uniforms approached. Seeing Cynthia, they visibly relaxed, saying, "Miss, thank you for saving our patient. Please hand her over to us now."

Sarah felt the hand she was holding tremble slightly.

She could tell Cynthia was afraid of these people.

"Patient?"

Sarah suddenly realized that Cynthia's current state was indeed abnormal.

She asked, "Which hospital are you from? Does she live alone in the hospital? Can you contact her family?"

Her voice was urgent, causing the nurses to look at each other.

Sensing their confusion, Sarah explained, "Sorry, she's my relative. I didn't know where she was before and didn't expect to meet her suddenly."

Hearing this, one of the nurses explained, "We're from Serenity Haven Retreat. She's been living there for a long time. It seems someone sent her there, but they never showed up again."

Hearing that, Sarah thought for a moment. The nurse's words indicated that the person who sent Cynthia to the retreat might not be from her grandfather's family.

Sarah took a deep breath, asking, "Can I take her with me?"
