Chapter 784 Why Isn't Harold Dead Yet?

Antonio walked in.

His tall and slender figure exuded a cold aura, naturally noble, capturing everyone's attention the moment he appeared.

He immediately noticed the nurse bending over to give an injection and the bewildered Sarah looking at him. "What is going on here?"

His brown eyes narrowed slightly, and his cold gaze fell on the needle.

He just remembered that he seemed to have brushed past a nurse.

Sarah blinked, "Marissa said this is a progesterone shot."

Although Antonio had never seen it before, he had indeed heard that most pregnant women needed this kind of progesterone shot to protect the pregnancy.

However, Marissa Hughes standing by the bed hadn't looked back since he came in. This abnormal behavior made him frown slightly.

"Marissa?" He asked as he walked over, "Where is Derek? Why isn't he here?"

Although Derek Bennett was a male nurse, he was the most experienced in this hospital and had been taking care of Sarah these days.

"Derek had something to do this afternoon, so he asked me to take over." Marissa quickly replied and continued to lower her head, preparing to inject Sarah.

"Wait!"

"What's wrong?" Sarah was startled by his voice and reflexively withdrew her arm.

The nurse's fingers also trembled slightly, and the syringe fell to the ground with a soft thud. The sound was dull and abrupt.

She instinctively raised her head slightly to glance at Antonio but quickly lowered her head to avoid his gaze.

"Mr. Valencia, if you have something to discuss with Ms. Miller, I can come back later to give her the shot." She pushed the cart and was about to leave the ward, not expecting Antonio to be so sensitive.

She was so close to completing her task. Now it seemed she would have to wait for another chance.

Just as she was about to step out of the ward, Antonio's voice came from behind, cold and sharp. "Stop! Let me see the progesterone shot you were going to give."

"This." Marissa hesitated, looking very troubled. "Mr. Valencia, please don't make it difficult for me. If the medication leaves my hands, I will be held responsible."

Antonio snapped, "As a family member of the patient, I have the right to know what you are injecting her with. Why are you evading? Are you feeling guilty?"

"Of course not, I'm not feeling guilty." Marissa forced a smile, but her hands moved to hide the syringe behind her back.

"Mr. Valencia, you're overthinking. I have other things to attend to outside. If there's nothing else, I'll leave now." After saying this, she tried to step past Antonio.

Finally realizing something was wrong, Antonio reached out to grab her. "Stop."

But Marissa seemed prepared, dodging his hand and fiercely trying to stab him with the needle.

"Watch out!" Sarah exclaimed in shock, accidentally causing a fit of coughing.

Hearing the commotion, Antonio became even more anxious.

His movements against the nurse became more aggressive, and within a few breaths, Marissa was subdued, pinned between his leg and the floor. "Tell me, who sent you!"

Marissa remained silent, even turning her head away. She clearly refused to cooperate.

Antonio laughed in anger, his chiseled face showing a hint of rage.

He reached out and removed her mask.

Sure enough, the face revealed was unfamiliar to him.

"You're not a nurse from this hospital. Who sent you?" Antonio added.

Marissa still didn't speak, biting her lower lip hard.

A sudden crack sounded, followed by Marissa's painful wail and her body twisting in agony.

Antonio's voice was icy, falling from above. "I've only dislocated one of your arms. If you don't talk, I'll break it."

He thought the intense pain would make Marissa confess.

But to his surprise, after a few groans, Marissa would rather swallow the taste of blood than speak.

"Very well! You are really something! I hope you can keep it up." Antonio laughed in anger and without hesitation, dislocated her other arm.

Another wail echoed, and Sarah turned pale with fright.

Large beads of sweat rolled down Marissa's forehead, quickly soaking her disheveled hair.

"If you talk now, I can still get a doctor to treat you. If you continue to be stubborn, don't blame me for being ruthless."

Marissa was terrified.

She trembled, genuinely wanting to confess, because it hurt too much.

But thinking of the person behind her, who was a hundred times more ruthless than Antonio, she bit her lip hard.

She gritted her teeth and said in a trembling voice, "Mr. Valencia, I'm just an ordinary nurse. You really misunderstood."

"So why are afraid of me checking the medication?" Antonio sneered, clearly not believing her. "I've never seen an ordinary nurse with such impressive combat skills. You just won't admit it."

"Mr. Valencia, I learned these combat skills from my husband. He's a martial arts coach." Her words sounded somewhat reasonable.

But Antonio still didn't believe her. "Then why didn't you dare to show me?"

"It's just a progesterone shot. Besides, our hospital has a rule that all medications must not leave our sight. I'm just afraid of taking responsibility!"

Her words were reasonable, even making Sarah on the bed frown. "Antonio, could it really be a misunderstanding?"

Antonio didn't answer, just lowered his eyes, coldly watching Marissa writhing in pain on the floor.

"Whether it's a misunderstanding or not, we'll find out. If it is, I'll apologize and cover your medical expenses. If not..." Antonio didn't finish his sentence.

No matter who sent Marissa, anyone tasked with such a mission wouldn't be a fool.

He had made his point clear. Even if she were a fool, she should know what choice to make.

Soon, Marissa was taken away.

There was a bit of a commotion in the hallway.

But Antonio didn't care. He immediately turned and walked to the bedside, full of concern. "Sarah, did she hurt you?"

Sarah shook her head, feeling a lingering fear.

Everything happened so fast, that she hadn't even reacted.

But Antonio's question made her burst into tears.

Sarah cried out. "I can't believe I was so careless. Was I that close to endangering our baby?"

Seeing her like this, Antonio's heart ached. He sat by the bed, holding her tightly. "Don't be afraid. What just happened was an accident. I'll find out who is behind this and make them pay!"

Antonio's eyes were cold and red, his aura growing colder.

Sarah noticed this.

But she didn't feel scared, instead, she felt very reassured. She snuggled into his chest, feeling very aggrieved. "Can you stay with me? I'm really scared alone. I'm afraid someone will come to harm our baby again."

Sarah had relied on him before, but never with such panic.

Antonio couldn't help but sigh, gently kissing her forehead. "Don't worry, I'll protect you and our baby."

And his heart was already filled with hatred.

Who else could want to harm Sarah but Harold?
