Chapter 524 I Don't Blame You

Antonio gasped in pain, but still didn't let go.
No! He couldn’t let go!
Even if it meant death, he had to save Sarah.
Sarah looked at the crazed Serene and the clearly struggling Antonio, wanting to tell him to let go but unable to say anything. All she could do was shake her head as tears uncontrollably streamed down her face.
If Serene was determined to take her life, persisting would only harm Antonio.
She hoped he could survive.
Serene's gaze was ruthless, and she put more pressure on Antonio’s hand.
Antonio was in so much pain that his face was contorted, but he still didn't let go, even managing to reassure her in a trembling voice, "Don't worry, Sarah, I'm fine... I will pull you up!"
Sarah felt as though a force was pulling her downwards.
Antonio was holding onto her, but he was being tortured by Serene.
Antonio...
If this continued, he might fall too.
What Serene hated most was seeing their deep affection for each other; it made her want to destroy everything!
She glanced at the bodyguard beside her and gave them an order in a cold and crazy tone, "Shoot! Aim for Antonio's arm!"
She was determined to kill Sarah!
This man wouldn't let go, would he? Well then, could he save her with one arm?!
Upon hearing Serene's orders, one bodyguard pulled out a cold weapon from his waist, aimed the dark muzzle at Antonio's arm, disengaged the safety, and pulled the trigger—
Gunshots pierced the air, scaring off the birds in the nearby trees. The surroundings suddenly fell silent...
Sarah closed her eyes tightly, not daring to look at the scene above.
But why hadn't she fallen?
With her heart pounding like a drum, Sarah slowly opened her eyes.
Behind Antonio, a dozen bodyguards had fallen, and Serene looked panicked at the group of people rushing up from a distance, retreating a few steps in confusion.
"Sarah, I'm fine! I'll pull you up!" Antonio breathed a sigh of relief, pulling her up while explaining, "James brought reinforcements! We're safe!"
The people James brought quickly subdued Serene's bodyguards, and he rushed over to help Antonio pull Sarah up, "I'm sorry I’m late, Mr. Valencia!"
James was drenched in sweat. If he had arrived a second later and something had happened to Mrs. Valencia, he would never have been able to forgive himself, no matter what he did to make amends.
It turned out that when Antonio left the hospital, he had discreetly gestured to the bodyguard who was guarding him.
Although the bodyguard didn't understand what it meant, he knew that if Mr. Valencia didn't say it outright, there must be a reason for it.
They stayed put but immediately informed James.
When James arrived at the hospital and the bodyguard told him about Antonio's gesture, he immediately sensed that something was wrong. He retrieved the surveillance footage from the entrance and followed the trail with his people to South Mountain.
Fortunately, they arrived in time to prevent an inevitable disaster.
Antonio struggled to pull Sarah up, glanced at James, and said angrily, "Arrest Serene!!"
Noticing that the situation had turned against her, Serene turned to run.
But she was wearing high heels, and she stumbled after only a few steps, almost falling flat on her face.
James waved his hand, and the two men beside him quickly rushed forward to pin her to the ground.
"Let go! Let me go!"
Serene, still unclear about her situation, struggled fiercely.
The bodyguards showed no mercy and pressed her down firmly, "Stay still! Move again and see if we don't throw you over the edge!"
Serene glared at him with furious eyes but dared not move again.
Antonio didn't spare her another glance. He turned his head to carefully untie the ropes binding Sarah. The tape over her mouth had been on too long, and the skin around it was tinged red.
He gently stroked her cheek, his voice trembling to its core, "Does it hurt?"
Sarah, free from all her bindings, felt as if she had walked through the gates of hell.
Her tears fell like broken beads, and she choked out, "I... I'm okay; how about you? Where are you hurt?"
She had seen Antonio get hit by the bodyguard and stomped on by Serene.
His body hadn't fully recovered, so it must hurt terribly...
Her concern for him made Antonio feel a great warmth in his heart.
"Sarah, I'm fine." He took her restless hand and pulled her into his arms, holding her tight as if he wished he could meld her into his body.
It was only at this moment that Antonio truly confirmed she was alive. She was safe and sound, and still by his side.
He kissed her hair, and his reddened eyes couldn't hold back the tears that fell in streams.
"It's okay now, Sarah... I'm sorry; it's all my fault for not protecting you... all my fault..."
Sarah, smelling the familiar scent of him, felt much of her fear dissipate.
Feeling his body trembling slightly, she hugged him back, "It's not your fault... really. I don't blame you."
After experiencing today's life threatening ordeal, she realized that all her past grievances were merely self-inflicted.
Nothing in this world was more important than two people being healthy and together.
She held him tight, comforting him, "Everyone is fine now, and Serene's true nature has been revealed. Isn't that the best outcome? It's okay, everything will be fine."
Antonio felt like he was holding the whole world when he had her in his arms.
Only heaven knew how grateful he was that Sarah was unharmed.
After a while, they slowly let go of each other, both struggling to control their emotions. Seeing each other's tear-filled eyes, they somehow shared a smile.
Suddenly remembering something, Antonio hurriedly fumbled in his pocket and pulled out a box.
Sarah felt a strange sense of familiarity, "This is..."
