Chapter 375 Afraid You'd Leave Without Saying Goodbye
Doubts crept into Sarah's mind, and her eyes involuntarily dimmed.
The doctor regained his composure. After all, Serene wasn't his primary patient, so needless to say, he wouldn't mention what he saw yesterday, especially now that her condition had worsened. It was likely that other symptoms appeared during the follow-up examination, leading to these results. He couldn't disclose the specifics.
"Ms. Jerrett's condition is quite severe. It's very likely that she will be limping for the rest of her life," the doctor said, both regretful and perplexed. He still couldn't understand how it had become so serious.
However, Sarah didn't catch the doctor's tone; she only knew that Antonio's favor this time had accumulated greatly.
"Her case involves tendons that have also suffered bone fractures. It's estimated that during the car accident, her bones had suffered a tremendous amount of force pressed against them. The specific details should be discussed with her attending physician."
The doctor turned to Sarah and glanced at her. "You owe her a big favor. It seems your relationship is truly exceptional if she's willing to pay such a high price to save someone.
"But, Mrs. Valencia, don't worry too much. This condition does have a possibility of recovery. After all, there are no fractures or complete ruptures. If she can actively undergo surgery and cooperate with treatment, there is hope for her to stand up again. Don't burden yourself too much mentally."
Sarah forced a laugh and asked, "If she undergoes surgery, what are the chances of recovery?"
"It's hard to say. I've only reviewed the case and haven't seen the actual situation yet. Her attending physician should be off today, so you can ask him when he's back on duty."
The doctor closed the medical record and saw that Sarah still had a pleasant appearance, so he added a few more words.
"Mrs. Valencia, I know it's tough when something happens to a friend. Comfort her well. Regardless of whether she can walk again or not, we must always look at life from a positive perspective. After you go back, you should inquire about any effective treatment methods. History has witnessed cases of recovery."
Sarah stood up and expressed her gratitude. "Thank you, doctor. I've troubled you these past two days."
"No need to thank me. This is what we should do."
Just as Sarah was about to leave, she heard a loud shout from behind.
"Sarah!"
Startled, Sarah turned around and found herself immediately embraced in Antonio's arms.
"You scared me! I thought you had disappeared again. Why are you here? Why didn't you rest properly?" Antonio took a long breath, finally feeling relieved the moment he saw Sarah.
Sarah didn't expect Antonio to be so emotional and felt a bit embarrassed. "I couldn't leave even if I wanted to. You're still here. How could I go?"
"I was just worried, afraid you'd leave without saying goodbye."
Antonio was feeling a bit scared now. If Sarah really left today, he would definitely break down. He had never imagined that he would become so anxious and indecisive. Although he knew that such emotions could be annoying, he couldn't control them.
Sarah didn't know what else to say, so she just gently patted Antonio's hand, urging him to let go. Then she comforted him, saying, "Don't worry, I won't leave without taking care of you, my patient."
The doctor sitting nearby was initially startled, but he showed a knowing smile when he saw Antonio rushing over.
"You two are really affectionate. Alright, hurry back to the room and embrace. I have to attend to other patients now. But Mr. Valencia, be careful with your head injury, don't get too excited," the doctor joked.
Sarah's face blushed even more. After apologizing to the doctor, she pulled Antonio back to the ward.
Antonio held Sarah's hand tightly all the way and refused to let go, no matter how she pulled.
"Are you done yet? We're already in the room, can't you let go?" Sarah looked at Antonio with a helpless expression. She seriously doubted whether Antonio had been hit on the head and became foolish.
"I just can't let go of your hand." Antonio stubbornly sat on the bed. "I'm afraid you'll leave if I let go."
"When did I say I was leaving?" Sarah didn't know what else to say. "Now we need to have breakfast, will you release your grip or not?"
"I'll let go, I'll let go." Antonio chuckled mischievously. It made people feel both bittersweet and sad.
