Chapter 470 I Didn't Want to See Him

The room was spacious, yet Sarah's eyes were immediately drawn to the chaos of clothes strewn on the floor, then to the embracing figures peacefully asleep in the large bed...

"Who's there..."

Serene stirred awake, as if startled by a noise, and peered toward the doorway. Upon recognizing the visitor, her fog of sleepiness lifted. Her eyes darted between the person beside her and the unkempt bed, panic setting in. "Sarah? I..."

Sarah's fingers trembled as she bit her lower lip, disbelief flooding her entire being. It felt as if she were losing her mind.

How could such a terrible thing happen in the world?!

No, she refused to believe it!

Sarah entered the room with a glimmer of hope, silently praying that the figure lying on the bed wasn't Antonio. However, as her gaze met the familiar, handsome face of the man, her heart sank. It was indeed Antonio, and any flicker of hope she had clung to vanished in an instant.

The loud commotion finally stirred Antonio from his drowsiness. Slowly, he propped himself up on the bed, unsure whether it was day or night, feeling only a throbbing pain in his head and ringing in his ears.

It took him a moment to grasp the situation. He glanced at his bare chest, then at Serene beside him. And there, he noticed Sarah as well.

'Fuck!' Antonio cursed inwardly.

How he wished this was just a dream, but the all-too-real sensation told him that he was trapped in a nightmare of reality.

'How did this happen?!'

Antonio's eyes widened in shock as he hastily pulled on his pants, his mind unable to fully grasp what had just occurred. His first instinct was to tightly clutch Sarah's hand, a desperate attempt to ground himself in the chaos of the moment.

Caught in the act, he appeared more vulnerable and pitiful than even Sarah, his entire being thrown into disarray.

"Sarah, listen to me, it's not what you think... I don’t know what happened!" he pleaded.

At that moment Sarah was eerily calm. She looked down, her gaze falling on the hickeys on Antonio's neck. Over his shoulder, she could clearly see the similar marks on Serene’s exposed neck...

"How ridiculous. You two are quite a pair. I must say, I'm impressed."

With that, Sarah forcefully pulled her hand away and turned to leave.

Antonio was still in a state of confusion, unable to remember anything, only aware that he had been drunk earlier. But now, here he was, half-naked... Could it be that he really had been with Serene?

But he didn’t have time to think further; he quickly reached out for Sarah.

He couldn't let her walk away! He couldn't let her misunderstand!

"Sarah, listen to me explain—"

Sarah slapped Antonio in face.

The slap that landed on Antonio's face shattered Sarah's heart even more.

Sarah's eyes reddened as she glared at him, gritting her teeth in anger.

Antonio felt a void in his head, and panic surged in his heart. He couldn't comprehend how things had reached this point.

"Sarah—"

"Don't call my name!" Sarah shouted, tears streaming down her cheeks and pooling at her collarbone. Her entire body trembled as if all strength had been sapped from her.Her gaze towards Antonio was laden with scorn. The carefully prepared birthday surprise by their family paled in comparison to the thrill of infidelity—what was once heartfelt devotion had become a self-deceptive joke.

Just when she thought that she and Antonio could finally be together without reservations, he presented her with such an enormous 'gift'!

At a time when her brother was in trouble and she regarded him as her sole support, he had harshly slapped her in the face!

Love?

It seemed to be worth nothing!

Heartbroken, Sarah turned and ran out of the room, not wanting to see the man before her ever again.

Antonio suddenly snapped back to reality, frantically picking up his clothes from the floor and pulling them on. He also wanted to slap himself, but he really couldn't remember anything!

After getting dressed, Antonio dashed out to chase after Sarah.

Serene sat on the bed looking pitifully at him. "Antonio..."

Antonio felt like he was going to explode, roaring, "Shut up! I'll settle this with you later!"

Sarah ran out of the hotel, and the previously clear weather now suddenly began to pouring rain.

It seemed that heaven always set the scene—like a heartbroken person should be drenched in rain.

Sarah didn't know where she wanted to go, nor did she know where she should go.

Why did it have to be like this? Why did the same things always happen? Why did she keep falling into an abyss every time she chose to trust Antonio?

Sarah didn't understand. If Antonio didn't love her, why did he have to act so convincingly? Wouldn't it be better to let her go free?

Sarah could clearly live a carefree life abroad with the children, free from any ties to Antonio and the pain he caused.

She was wrong; she should have heeded her brother's advice from the beginning, accepted the divorce papers, and departed swiftly. Despite numerous opportunities presented to her, she repeatedly chose to ignore them.

Sarah walked on the street, letting the heavy rain fall on her.

She didn't know what to do.

How was she supposed to explain this to the children now?

They were so looking forward to today's birthday party. They had stayed up late making handmade gifts...

The heavy rain blurred Sarah's vision, and she felt dizzy.

Suddenly, a shout came from behind!
