Chapter 207 A Family, One Missing...
Antonio locked eyes with the man in the cap, his gaze a vortex of dark intensity, as if his next word could seal the man's fate.
Startled by Antonio's demeanor, the man fell silent.
Ethan was taken aback by Antonio's trust and wondered, 'He trusts me this much?'
Wide-eyed, Ethan stared at Antonio, his voice strained as he reiterated, "I swear, I didn't lie."
Only then did Antonio turn his head and reassured him with a gentle look, "I know. Don't worry. I believe you and won't let him get away."
Suddenly, Ethan felt a pang of unfamiliar emotions, and his nose tingled.
At that moment, Sarah also approached with Harper in tow. Seeing Ethan's distress, she immediately picked him up and gently patted his back.
"Don't worry. We all believe in you. The truth will come to light."
With Sarah taking care of their son, Antonio felt slightly more at ease. He then turned his gaze to the man, grabbed his collar, and said with a cold and tempting tone, "Let's make a bet. If we have wrongly accused you, I'll give you $100,000. But if it turns out you’re the culprit, you'll publicly apologize to my son."
Everyone around gasped in shock.
$100,000? This man must be insane! What if it really was his misbehaving son? He would have to pay a hefty sum! Could wealthy people really play like this?
The onlookers were astounded.
The sudden offer of $100,000 also shocked the man. He remained silent for a long time.
"What's the matter? Are you scared now? Dare to bet?" Antonio's eyes narrowed as if he could see through the man's soul.
The spectators didn't think it was a big deal either. They actively joined in the uproar.
"Yes, since you're not a thief, let's bet. Don't ask for money for nothing!"
"That's right! If you don't dare to bet, it will only make you look guilty. Could it be that you really stole the phone?"
Amidst the clamor, the man's face turned green and purple.
He forced himself to calm down, appearing composed, but his gaze fell upon the expensive watch Antonio was revealing by tugging at his collar.
Having been a thief for many years, he had stolen quite a few luxury items. That watch alone was probably worth tens of thousands.
His eyes sparkled with delight.
His accomplice should be far away by now. After all, they would never find the phone on him, and they could no longer find his partner. He couldn't help but smile greedily.
"Alright, let's bet!"
The man forcefully shook off Antonio's hand, exuding great confidence, as if he truly wasn't the thief.
"Good, then wait here."
Antonio's chilly gaze pierced through him, as if he possessed an overpowering understanding of all things.
Inexplicably, the man felt increasingly guilty.
Soon after, he saw Antonio dialing a number.
"My son was wrongly accused of theft at your aquarium. I want this matter resolved within ten minutes," he said coldly into the phone.
Upon hearing this, the man immediately felt his legs trembling.
'Who is he calling... The owner of the aquarium?!
'This aquarium is a famous establishment owned by a wealthy tycoon in the city. How does this man even know the tycoon?!
'And he's speaking to the other person with such commanding tone...
'Who exactly is he?!
'Oh no! I've stepped into trouble this time!'
The thief instinctively moved to the side, wanting to leave this place. He didn't pay attention to his legs and bumped into the nearby firebox.
He winced in pain but still covered his leg and tried to run.
He noticed the strange looks from the people around him and felt a chilling gaze as if from the depths of hell behind him.
Terrified, his legs shook, and he instantly turned weak.
Then, he heard a voice filled with oppression, as if a king had descended. 'Trying to escape? You haven't even apologized to my son yet.'
He stood still, too scared to speak, until ten minutes later when a staff member hurried over with the surveillance footage, revealing everything that had just happened. Everyone then knew that this man did indeed steal Sarah's phone with an accomplice.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, it's all my fault. Please spare me, I'll have him return the phone right away!"
The man kept apologizing in fear, but the people around him sneered at him.
Antonio didn't say a word, just stood there with a cold expression.
Before long, his accomplice also quickly returned the phone.
The man tried to leave with his accomplice but was stopped by the staff.
He anxiously stared at the person blocking his way, questioning Antonio, "Weren't we supposed to be let go after returning the phone? You don't keep your word?!"
Antonio simply glanced at him coldly and said, "Go tell that to the police station."
As soon as he finished speaking, the police arrived on their side and immediately recognized this person, promptly handcuffing and taking him away.
With the incident resolved, the onlookers gradually dispersed.
Harper looked at Antonio in admiration and ran towards him in excitement. "Daddy, you're so handsome! I knew you would be able to clear Ethan's name!"
Antonio quickly reached out and caught her, the icy coldness in his eyes melting away, replaced by a hint of warmth.
Harper hugged Antonio and looked at Ethan, who Sarah was holding. Her round, bright eyes turned around. "How about we take a photo together? Wouldn't that be nice?"
Harper thought that with the atmosphere being so good now, Ethan wouldn't refuse.
Her daughter's soft voice, as light as a feather, swept across Antonio's heart.
Unable to resist Harper's coquettishness, Antonio nodded gently with tenderness.
Sarah saw that although her son was a little awkward, he didn't refuse. She secretly chuckled.
She asked a tourist to take a picture of them.
Harper and Ethan huddled in front of them, Harper with a joyful smile and a slightly rosy complexion. Ethan pursed his lips as if deep in thought.
Antonio tilted his head and leaned against Sarah's long hair. With his other hand, he embraced her as if embracing the three of them, his eyes filled with tenderness.
As the shutter clicked, Antonio walked over and saw the photo on her phone. He looked nostalgic and said, "Finally, our family has a group picture."
Sarah, however, stared at the photo absentmindedly, with a hint of disappointment in her eyes.
It wasn't a complete family.
Brian was missing, so their family was still one person short...
Antonio noticed Sarah's subtle change in expression and leaned in close, concerned. He asked in a caring tone, "What's wrong?"
"In fact, we still have a... "
