Chapter 365 A Woman at His Side

"The A2038 flight to Shengjing is now boarding…" echoed through the terminal.

"Sir, perhaps we should proceed to board. If Madam arrives, she can join us," the assistant suggested, his tone laced with concern.

Antonio, however, remained unyielding, his feet planted firmly on the ground.

The announcement rang out once more, a stern reminder that the plane was on the verge of departure, and time was rapidly slipping away.

The assistant's anxiety heightened. "Sir, Madam is still on her vacation. If she intended to join us, she would have arrived by now. We must board the plane."

"I told you, she hasn't arrived yet," Antonio retorted through gritted teeth, refusing to accept the possibility that Sarah could be so callous.

The assistant, at a loss for what to do next, could only stand by, watching the minutes tick away with growing unease.

Antonio's gaze remained unwaveringly fixed on the entrance, his hope dwindling with each passing second.

Could it be that Sarah truly isn't coming?

The thought devastated Antonio. He had clung to the faint hope that there was still a chance.

There might have been, but his impulsive actions had effectively crushed that possibility...

"Sir!" The assistant's voice was tinged with desperation. "The annual conference is of utmost importance; we cannot afford to be late!"

With a heavy sigh, Antonio, hearing his name being called over the loudspeaker, reluctantly turned to board the plane.

The plane took off punctually, but as it ascended, the figure he yearned to see was nowhere in sight.

Antonio closed his eyes, retreating into himself.

"Antonio."

Suddenly, a soft, melodious voice broke through his solitude.

Antonio quickly turned his head, his eyes filled with an anticipation he had never felt before.

But the sight that met his eyes shattered his hope instantly.

It was Serene.

"I just heard your name announced over the loudspeaker. I thought I had misheard," Serene greeted him with a warm smile. "You're attending the conference in Shengjing too, right?"

Antonio responded curtly, then closed his eyes again, effectively ignoring Serene.

Serene had initially intended to switch seats with Antonio's assistant, but Antonio's cold reaction left her at a loss for words.

"Antonio, this is my first time attending this conference. If there's anything I don't understand, I hope you can guide me," Serene finally mustered the courage to speak up after a moment of silence.

But Antonio merely turned his head away, presenting Serene with the back of his head.

Seeing this, the assistant offered Serene an apologetic smile. "I'm sorry, Miss Jerrett, our CEO is asleep. I'll relay your message when he wakes up."

Serene forced a laugh and decided to let it go.

However, deep down, Serene knew that Antonio must have had a disagreement with Sarah. Otherwise, he wouldn't have left her behind on such a crucial occasion.

A cold smile tugged at the corners of Serene's lips. If that's the case, she thought, don't blame me...

Later that night,

Sarah sat in her living room, her attention wandering from the magazines strewn about, the TV dramas she had been meaning to watch, and the short videos on her phone.

Despite not accompanying Antonio to the annual meeting, she couldn't help but fret over it. The meeting was too significant, with a plethora of media present. If she didn't attend, rumors about their marital troubles would inevitably resurface. However, if she did go, things wouldn't pan out as she hoped. Either way, the outcome was far from desirable.

Sarah's fingers danced over the remote control buttons, flipping through a myriad of news reports and TV dramas, but none could quell her restlessness. Deep down, she still cared about Antonio...

Suddenly, a familiar figure flashed across the TV screen. It was Antonio! Sarah's fingers froze, and she reminded herself not to meddle in his affairs, but her hand seemed to have a mind of its own.

Antonio was a renowned figure in the business world, and even in Shengjing, he was the center of media attention. This was a live broadcast, and the camera occasionally panned to Antonio.

Watching Antonio's confident demeanor, Sarah's worries gradually eased. It was comforting to see him laughing and mingling with others. Who wouldn't admire such a charismatic individual?

Sarah pursed her lips. Although she felt a sense of relief, a twinge of discomfort lingered deep within her.

Just then, she noticed a woman who was constantly at Antonio's side, a woman she knew all too well!
