Chapter 160 The Pain Resurfaces

Hearing these words, Antonio immediately understood that Alex was referring to the accident from five years ago, a painful expression crossing his eyes.

Of course, he didn't want that.

He didn't want to go through the pain of losing her again.

Helplessly, Antonio had no choice but to leave Sarah's room.

Suddenly, Antonio thought of something and grabbed Alex, who was about to close the door. His emotions were slightly agitated as he still couldn't comprehend how the children could be his.

But looking at Alex, he didn't seem like he was making it up.

This matter was tormenting Antonio's nerves; he was on the verge of going insane!

"Do you have any proof for what you're saying? How do you know those two children are mine? I have done a paternity test before, and Harper... clearly wasn't my biological daughter!"

A hint of irony flashed in Alex's eyes as he scoffed and interrupted Antonio, "The paternity test report you received was switched by Sarah. The children..."

Yes, it's you. Sarah changed the DNA test because she didn't want anything to do with you anymore. When Sarah had her accident, she was carrying your children.

A prodigy like you couldn't even recognize his own biological children. I can't tell if Antonio is clever or foolish.

"What's the point of asking all this now?" Alex replied, disdainfully shrugging off Antonio's hand and turning to enter the room.

Watching the door close heartlessly, Antonio felt like he had been cut off from another world in an instant.

On his side, everything was dark and cold. Even his heart seemed frozen, drained of life. He stood there for a long time, the corridor lights dimmed, and he merged with the darkness...

Antonio couldn't remember how he made his way back to his room.

The lights were off in the room, and if one didn't look closely, it would be hard to notice the motionless figure on the sofa.

At that moment, Antonio was like an empty shell, only capable of breathing. The deepness that once resided in his eyes was gone, replaced by emptiness. Pain clouded his handsome face, lingering indefinitely.

All the memories from the past flooded back into Antonio's mind. He remembered that from the very beginning, he had doubted Harper's identity. After all, her small face resembled his too much.

But he hadn't investigated further and instead, believed that Sarah had given birth to someone else's children because of that DNA report. He had missed the opportunity to recognize his own biological children and had unwittingly ruined their lives.

Suddenly, Antonio understood why Harper had been helping him. He also grasped why she had felt such affection for him and why she had wept bitterly upon witnessing his grandfather beating him.

Antonio abruptly raised his hand and clasped his chest, letting out a painful groan. It was as if countless venomous insects were gnawing at his heart, causing unbearable pain! Perhaps this was the second time in Antonio's life he truly experienced unbearable pain. The first time he had lost Sarah, and now... he had lost his own children!

The air around him seemed to solidify, and Antonio felt difficulty in breathing. He tugged at his collar, desperately trying to take deep breaths and inhale oxygen, but it was all in vain.

Antonio remained seated there, his expression filled with pain, struggling with self-blame, regret, and self-hatred. If it were possible, he would willingly jump into the fires of hell if it meant he could get back those two precious lives. His own son and daughter...

In the next room, Alex was comforting Sarah's emotions.

Just then, the police arrived with some news. "We didn't find any DNA evidence of living individuals at the explosion site. We can conclude that the two children were not there."

Implicitly, the children did not die in the explosion.

Sarah, who was on the verge of a mental breakdown, suddenly regained a trace of sanity. A glimmer of light finally appeared in her beautiful eyes.

So that means Ethan and Harper must still be alive!

But where are they now? And whose hands are they in?

...

At the same time, Lisa left Ryan in the hotel room and went out alone while it was dark outside.

She arrived at an abandoned building and entered the basement, where someone had already been waiting.

Inside the basement, there was a door with two men sitting in front of it, both with cigarettes in their mouths. Tim paced nearby as if waiting for someone.

Upon hearing the sound of footsteps from the stairs, the three exchanged glances, and then Tim walked forward, looking cautiously at the entrance.

After recognizing the newcomer, Tim complained, "Why are you so late? We've been waiting for ages!"

Lisa disdainfully snorted and stepped over the trash on the ground with great disgust, saying, "What's the rush? Have you finished your task?"

The basement had only a dim light shining from the ceiling, casting an eerie shadow over Tim's smiling face. He looked rather sinister. "Of course! Thinking of making Antonio suffer a fate worse than death, I did my utmost! But I never expected you, a woman, to be even more ruthless than us."

Indeed, Lisa was like a venomous snake.

Lisa, however, couldn't be bothered with more idle talk. She waved her hand, dismissing them, "Stop wasting time. The police will definitely be after you now. I'll give you your commission for today, so take the money and find a place to hide. Tomorrow, we have another act to perform!"

Saying this, Lisa took out her phone and made some arrangements. Tim soon received a notification of the payment.

Tim smiled in satisfaction and waved to his partners before leaving.

Once the three of them were gone, Lisa impatiently walked towards the innermost door of the basement. She opened the dilapidated wooden door and immediately saw two small figures pressed closely together...
