Chapter 824 Wedding Hijack
"I... I thought I could be generous and let you make the choice, but it turns out I can't. The thought of you leaving me forever is more painful than death."
"I won't argue with you anymore. I'll go along with everything you say. I'll do anything you want, as long as you come back to me."
"Sofia." Alex's eyes were fixed on her, his voice choked with emotion, "I love you, don't leave me."
Sofia was already in tears. She never imagined that Alex would crash the wedding for her. Didn't he care about the consequences?
'Alex, you fool!' She thought.
Her heart felt both full and unbearably sour.
For a long time, she had suppressed her feelings, but now it seemed like they had found an outlet. Memories of happier times replayed in her mind, giving her unexpected courage.
Sofia stubbornly told herself, 'So be it! Alex is the love of my life! He has done so much for her; how can I let him lose at the final step?'
The Harris Group was failing due to its own mismanagement. What did that have to do with Sofia? Why should she sacrifice her happiness for their incompetence?
"Alex." Sofia was still crying, but a small smile appeared on her lips. She leaned close to his ear and whispered, "Let's run away."
With that, she let go of his hand, bent down to take off her cumbersome high heels, grabbed her dress with one hand, and held tightly onto Alex with the other. They exchanged a smile and ran towards the exit.
Sarah watched this scene, deeply moved. She had been waiting by the stage, ready to hand Sofia the sneakers she had prepared in advance.
They had been friends for years and could understand each other with just a glance.
Sarah mouthed to her. "Go quickly, leave the rest to me!"
As Sofia and Alex ran out of the banquet hall, the guests were in an uproar, their murmurs adding fuel to the fire for both the Harris and Newman families.
"Where are the security guards? Stop them!"
"Who is that man? Call the cop! This is outrageous!"
Curtis's face was as dark as coal, and he roared, "Isn't this embarrassing enough?"
Virgil finally snapped out of his daze, his face contorted with anger, veins bulging on his forehead, and his fists clenched so tightly it seemed his bones might break.
'How dare Sofia! And that useless Alex, just a company executive, dared to crash my wedding and take Sofia away! Isn't he afraid of retaliation?' He thought.
Thinking about the recent events, Virgil's anger reached its peak, his jaw muscles twitching.
The chaotic sounds around him seemed to explode in his mind, his reddened eyes falling on the excited Sarah.
Sarah had handed Sofia a pair of shoes earlier.
That meant she knew what was going to happen today.
Maybe they had planned this all along!
Alex was brought by her!
They had planned everything in advance, just to make a mockery of him, Virgil, and the Newman family at this wedding!
Virgil's knuckles cracked as he quickly pieced together the events, his hatred for Sarah growing rapidly, wishing he could torment her to death!
Curtis and Pamela felt utterly humiliated, but since the situation had already unfolded, they could only try to send the guests away and contain the damage.
Curtis glanced at Virgil, furious. "Look at you, insisting on marrying Sofia! You almost ruined the Newman family!"
"Why blame Virgil?" Pamela was also angry, but given the circumstances, she didn't even want to keep up appearances. She turned and glared at the Harris, "It's all their fault!"
"Look at the daughter you raised! What a disgrace!" Pamela cursed.
Susan was both angry and scared, her face pale as a sheet.
How could Sofia do something so foolish?
She had completely offended the Newman family. They would definitely stop investing in the Harris family. How would the Harris family survive in Luminara now? It was over.
The more Susan thought about it, the more desperate she felt, almost fainting from anger. But in front of the Newmans, she could only tremble and apologize. "Pamela, it's all Sofia's fault. When she comes back, I'll make sure to educate her properly and have her kneel before you to apologize. Please don't be angry."
The two families had a good relationship, and Susan usually got along well with Pamela, but in this situation, her anger only grew.
"Don't call me that! I agreed to let Virgil marry Sofia because we felt sorry for your family's downfall. But what about you? Are you playing us for fools?"
"Look at your daughter, she has no manners at all!"
"No... it's not like that!" Susan was even more terrified by her words.
The Newman family would definitely not pay the remaining balance, but would they also take back their previous investments? What would happen to the company then?
Thinking about this, she hated Sofia even more, almost fainting, but was supported by her assistant just in time.
Her demeanor and tone were utterly humble. "I'll find someone to bring Sofia back right now! As long as you can calm down, you can do whatever you want with her! It's all Sofia's fault! She deserves to die!"
At this moment, a subordinate reported that Sofia was missing, and both Sofia and Alex's phones were unreachable, making it unlikely they could be found.
Susan's breathing became rapid, her chest heaving violently. "Keep looking! You must bring them back!"
What if Sofia didn't come back? Would she, as a mother, have to bear the Newman family's wrath alone? And what about the company?
At this moment, a clear, bright voice drew everyone's attention. "No need to look!"
Sarah, wearing a champagne-colored dress and flat shoes, exuded an aura that made her look like a refined goddess, elegant and imposing. "If you have any questions, you can ask me. Sofia is my friend, and I can speak for her."
"You?" Pamela instinctively wanted to scold Sarah, but when her eyes met Antonio's intimidating presence beside her, her arrogance vanished.
"Yes, me." Sarah glanced at her, then turned to Susan.
"Mrs. Harris, I've heard about the Harris Group from Sofia. Whatever the deficit, I'll cover it."
