Chapter 592 Daddy Belongs to Him and Mommy

Benjamin's expression turned cold as he stood up. He said, "I'm going to get something to eat."

Ethan, sensing that Benjamin's mood was off, quickly put down the cookie in his hand as he saw him leave. "Isabella, since you want to eat, you can have it all! No need to thank me!" Ethan suggested.

Then he followed after Benjamin.

Benjamin hadn't walked far when he felt a little tail following him.

"What's your favorite food?" Ethan asked.

"Do you want to try that shrimp?" Ethan offered.

The questions kept coming, but strangely, they didn't annoy Benjamin. Instead, they seemed to quell his earlier anger.

He suddenly stopped, and Ethan, not paying attention, bumped into his hard leg.

It didn't hurt, but it did startle him.

Benjamin looked down at him. The little guy didn't show any signs of pain, so he probably wasn't hurt.

He squatted down in front of Ethan, his tone as usual, and asked, "Why are you following me?"

Ethan felt that Benjamin's gaze was so sharp! It seemed like he could see right through his thoughts.

"I'm not trying to do anything," Ethan said as he lowered his head, looking aggrieved and pitiful. "I just miss my daddy so much. You know, you look a lot like my daddy. Not just a lot, exactly the same!"

His soft voice gradually lowered, carrying a hint of caution.

Benjamin's eyes darkened. The small figure in front of him seemed to pierce straight into his heart, stirring up a strange feeling, like pity, or more like heartache.

Ethan saw that he wasn't speaking, but his eyes had changed.

This was a good sign!

He quickly pressed on, tears welling up in his eyes. "Are you really not my daddy?" Ethan questioned.

Benjamin's brow furrowed. He felt an unexpected reluctance to hurt this child.

But facts were facts, and such a lie would be deceitful. His deep voice carried a barely detectable hint of reluctance, "No."

This answer was within Ethan's expectations.

He pretended to be a bit disappointed but soon looked up with hopeful eyes. "Then do you want to be my daddy? I really like you!" he exclaimed to Benjamin.

Benjamin hadn't expected the child to ask such a question.

Did he want to be his daddy?

He didn't answer immediately. His deep gaze lingered on Ethan's face as if seeing someone else entirely. The woman's cold indifference towards him throughout the day still weighed heavily on his mind.

As far back as Benjamin could remember, he had never been so ignored by anyone.

Just then, Sarah came out of the restroom. Not seeing Ethan at their table, she looked around and immediately spotted him standing close to Benjamin.

Sarah instantly felt like she was facing a great enemy and hurried over.

"Ethan!" Sarah called out in a hurry.

She pretended to be calm as she pulled the child to her side, giving a forced smile to the man in front of her. "I'm sorry, the child is a bit unruly. If he caused you any trouble, please forgive us."

Ethan felt a pang of regret. If only Mommy had come back a little later! He could have heard Daddy's answer!

He bit his lip and said nothing.

Benjamin had calmed down by now, his hands in his suit pockets, and said indifferently, "It's fine. He didn't do anything."

Sarah finally breathed a sigh of relief, nodded, and prepared to leave with Ethan. She said, "Sorry to bother you."

Ethan had no choice but to follow his mother's steps, reluctantly looking back at Daddy. His eyes were bright and full of tears, pitiful and cute, his sincere feelings uncontrollably exposed, making one feel a pang of sympathy.

Benjamin felt an inexplicable softness in his heart, even thinking that Sarah might be too strict with the child.

He had clearly said it was fine, but she still insisted on taking the child away.

This thought lingered for a moment before Benjamin consciously pushed it aside.

He didn't understand why he felt this way about Sarah's child.

This was already the second child he felt affection for, which was completely out of character for him.

Benjamin closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

When he returned with the food, Isabella was already sitting at Sarah's table, waving with a smile.

Isabella suggested, "Let's eat with Sarah and her son. It's livelier with more people."

She was already seated, so it was too late to refuse.

Sarah kept her eyes straight ahead, trying to ignore their presence.

But the more she did so, the more the tall figure of the man seemed to intrude into her line of sight, sitting diagonally opposite her, as if deliberately opposing her.

Ethan's big round eyes darted between the three adults, feeling that his efforts earlier hadn't been entirely in vain.

He deliberately whispered, "Mommy, I want what Benjamin has."

Sure enough, Mommy lowered her head even more. "Mommy will get you a portion."

Unexpectedly, Benjamin heard Ethan's words and voluntarily shared his plate of spaghetti with meat sauce with Ethan.

Sarah felt even more awkward, making Ethan thank Benjamin, then focused on helping Ethan eat, not looking at Benjamin for the rest of the meal.

However, the harmonious and warm atmosphere between mother and son made the people around them sigh with admiration.

Somebody remarked, "Sarah is so young, not only managing the company so well but also handling family relationships so well. We should all learn from her!"

Another added. "We're usually so busy with work that we become distant from our children."

Sarah smiled modestly, not agreeing or disagreeing.

Benjamin listened to the various compliments around him, his eating pace unconsciously slowing down.

These people were right. If the family atmosphere wasn't good, the child's character wouldn't be so well-behaved, nor would he have no psychological impact after his father's death.

So, Sarah and her husband must have been very much in love.

Only a loving family could raise such an excellent child.

He took a sip of water from the table, swallowing the stuffiness in his heart and the look in his eyes.

Finally, the meal was over. As they left the restaurant, the staff with Mr. Thompson came down from upstairs and greeted them.

The staff informed, "Sarah, Benjamin, Mr. Thompson is a bit carsick, so he won't be coming down for dinner. He asked me to tell you that the inspection will officially start tomorrow.

The staff added, "Today, everyone can take this opportunity to relax and unwind. The hot springs here are very nice, so everyone should enjoy them tonight."

"Okay, thank you," Sarah said as she smiled and nodded, stepping aside to make way.

As the main person in charge of the company, Benjamin couldn't avoid a few more polite exchanges. He remarked, "Mr. Thompson has had a long journey. Please convey our regards."

Sarah quickly took Ethan to the front desk to get her room's spare key card and left.

In the elevator, Ethan was puzzled.

"Mommy, aren't we waiting for Benjamin and the others?" Ethan asked.

"Sweetie," Sarah said, not knowing how to explain the relationship to the child, but since he hadn't brought it up, she didn't want to say anything either.

Sarah tried to explain, "Uncle and Isabella need some private space. We can't always disturb them."

Ethan answered, "Got it, Mommy."

Ethan pretended not to understand, but he actually had a plan.

He wouldn't let them have much private space!

Daddy's private space should belong to him and Mommy!
