Chapter 739 Call Kevin

Deep down, Mary was scared they didn't stand a chance, especially since the whole thing hinged on them loving each other.

"Hey, Mary," Sarah suddenly looked up and asked, "I think Cynthia really needs a full check-up given her situation. Do you know any good hospitals?"

Mary got serious and said, "Yeah, Unity Health Center is the best bet."

She thought for a second and added, "It's the biggest hospital in Marshall City with top-notch medical resources. If Cynthia needs a thorough check-up, that's the place to go."

Sarah smiled, "You're a lifesaver, seriously. We'd be lost without you."

Mary felt a bit embarrassed. "No need to be so formal."

Sarah said, "Let's eat quickly! Afterward, can you come with us to the hospital? I'm worried Cynthia might freak out if we just spring it on her."

Mary nodded, "Sure, no problem. I'm free all day."

Sarah sighed in relief, feeling super grateful to Mary.

Antonio finished eating first and helped the waiter with Cynthia, who was quiet and behaved like a child when she was calm.

After eating, they all drove to the hospital together.

Even though it was a weekday, the hospital was packed.

It took three hours just to register and wait for the check-up. Mary stayed by Cynthia's side the whole time, patiently comforting her.

After a while, Mary whispered to Sarah, "Sarah, I need to use the restroom. Keep an eye on Cynthia."

Sarah nodded. "Got it."

But quite a while passed, and Mary still hadn't come back.

Sarah frowned and said to Antonio, "Can you watch Cynthia for a bit? I'm gonna check on Mary in the restroom."

Antonio replied, "Sure, take your time and be careful."

Sarah searched the restroom but didn't see Mary.

'Did Mary leave on her own? No way,' she thought.

Sarah started to get anxious and ran back to tell Antonio, "I didn't find Mary in the restroom. What if something happened to her?"

If that was true, she'd feel so guilty!

Antonio glanced at the crowd in the hospital and tried to comfort her, "Don't worry, I'll find her for you."

Sarah walked around, looking everywhere, and said, "Where could she have gone? She's so meticulous; if something happened, she would've told us."

As soon as she finished speaking, she suddenly saw Mary tussling with a male doctor on the nearby terrace! It was Timothy.

Sarah couldn't believe Mary was being harassed.

Sarah got furious. "What kind of doctor is this?"

She looked around and saw a mop nearby. She grabbed it in anger and was about to go over and deal with the situation.

Antonio quickly grabbed her. "Sarah, calm down!"

Sarah pointed outside, "Look, Mary is being bullied by that jerk doctor!"

Antonio found her description both funny and exasperating and said, "Why don't you see what they're actually doing first?"

She said, "What else could they be doing?"

With that, Sarah turned her head to look. Although the two on the terrace were pulling at each other, they weren't doing anything too extreme. Timothy looked angry, not like he was bullying her.

Mary, on the other hand, looked upset and seemed to be trying to calm him down, but she didn't look like she was being bullied.

Antonio continued, "He might be someone Mary knows. We saw him at the restaurant today."

Antonio had already noticed Mary acting weird after seeing Timothy at the restaurant.

Sarah was taken aback, asking, "Really?"

'Am I overthinking this? Maybe it's not a bad doctor bothering Mary, but just a couple having a spat?' she thought.

She looked at the scene skeptically, and Antonio took the chance to take the mop from her hand.

"Alright, it's not really our place to step in. Let's go, okay?" Antonio said.

Sarah agreed.

She had just met Mary today, so it wasn't right to pry into her private matters.

She said, "Alright, let's call Mary later."

After all, this was a hospital, and there should be surveillance everywhere. If Timothy was really a bad guy, he wouldn't get away with it.

They took Cynthia back, and Antonio picked up the test results to see another doctor.

The doctor was seeing other patients, so they waited a bit before going in with the report.

Sarah said, "Doctor, could you please take a look?"

The doctor glanced at Cynthia and took the report, analyzing it. "From the test results, we can't tell if the patient has ever been pregnant since it was a long time ago, but..."

Hearing that, Sarah's heart was in her throat, nervously holding Cynthia's hand. Seeing the doctor flipping through the report, she quickly asked, "But what?"

"But she has suffered many injuries." The doctor adjusted his glasses and held up one of the X-rays.

He pointed out, "Look here, this indicates that the patient's lumbar spine was once fractured, which is why there's a misalignment now. It clearly wasn't treated professionally. Over time, it healed this way."

Sarah felt a pang of sadness, unconsciously tightening her grip on Cynthia's hand.

'What has Cynthia gone through? Why is her lumbar spine fractured? And does the doctor mean she hadn't seen a doctor? How did she endure it?' she pondered.

The more she thought about it, the more heartbroken she felt. She couldn't help but hug Cynthia.

Antonio frowned and asked, "Doctor, given Cynthia's current condition, can the issue with her lumbar spine be treated?"

The doctor replied, "With proper care and some physical therapy, it can improve. But returning to her previous state is unlikely. However, you can give it a try."

Sarah pressed her lips together and sighed after a while.

She said to Antonio, "When we get back to the Capital City, we'll find a specialist for Cynthia's rehab."

Antonio nodded. "Alright."

They were currently in Marshall City, and many things were inconvenient. It would be better to wait until they returned to Capital City. Rehabilitation wasn't something that could be rushed.

After leaving the doctor's office, Sarah suddenly turned and said, "Take care of Cynthia for a while. I'm going to call my dad now and ask him about Cynthia."

Since Kevin had photos of Carol and Cynthia, Sarah thought he should know something.

They would meet him after returning to Capital City, so it was better to inform him first.

Antonio looked at the crowded hallway and frowned. "Find a place with fewer people to make the call. It's too crowded here; you might get bumped."

"Okay," Sarah said.

On an empty balcony, Sarah dialed the number.

Kevin answered quickly, his voice filled with joy. "Sarah! Are you almost done with your work? Are you coming back?"

Sarah replied, "Not yet, Dad, but it should be soon. Something happened here, and I have something to ask you about."
