Chapter 457 The Bracelet
Brady said coldly, "No way. Don’t even think of it. That bracelet belongs to my sister’s.
Serene got even crazier after hearing it. "Your sister's? You think Sarah is worthy of it? I'm telling you, that item is mine and mine alone! It will never belong to her!"
Brady was shocked and turned pale; Serene was actually targeting Sarah!
"Serene, I've never mentioned my sister's name before! How do you even know her? Tell me! What exactly do you want to do to my sister?"
Brady was very angry. When it came to Sarah, he naturally took things seriously.
Serene scoffed. "You don't need to worry about that question. Now, hand the item over to me, and I might spare you."
Brady thought this woman must be insane!
He didn't want to waste any more words with Serene. With the situation being urgent, he immediately took out his phone to call Sarah.
Serene's expression remained indifferent as she swiftly stepped forward and snatched Brady's phone from his grasp. Brady, preoccupied with alerting Sarah, failed to anticipate her sudden movement, causing the phone to tumble off the rooftop.
Brady glared at her. "Serene, what on earth do you want to do? Who exactly are you? What do you intend to do to Sarah?"
He had never heard Sarah mention this person. What grudge did they hold between them?
And Serene seemed so desperately eager to get her hands on that bracelet... Could it be that the bracelet was indeed the one Sarah had lost a while back? Did Serene also know their mother?
Brady's thoughts were in turmoil, so he simply asked, "That bracelet is my sister's, right? Were you the one who stole it originally?"
Serene looked at Brady with disdain. "Brady, why all the nonsense? Stop guessing; you won't get it right. I'm determined to have that bracelet, and what right do you have to stand on some moral high ground and question me?"
She had already thoroughly investigated Brady's background. Naturally, she knew about the time when Brady was falsely accused of rape and nearly imprisoned. But as for whether the accusation was false or not, who could be certain?
Upon hearing that Serene knew even about this incident, Brady's breathing immediately became rapid.
This matter had always been a thorn in Brady's side! The time he spent traveling the world lately was also an attempt to forget that unbearable past!
But now, Serene bluntly uncovered it, as if harshly sprinkling salt into his wound, causing him unbearable pain!
"Serene, do you think you're anything good? At the end of the day, you're just a bad woman! Today, don't even think about leaving. I will call Sarah to confront you. Whatever you're planning, you won't succeed!"
Serene clenched her fists tightly. "I'm telling you one last time, give me the bracelet!"
Seeing Brady unmoved, Serene decided to reach out and snatch it!
Immediately, the two started to scuffle on the rooftop, neither willing to give in.
…
Sarah looked at her brother's missed call on her phone, feeling somewhat puzzled. "Why did it end after two rings?"
Sarah frowned, redialing Brady's number.
Nothing…
Sarah tried calling two or three more times, but she couldn't get through.
"What's going on?" She was confused. Brady had never done this before; even when he was abroad, he never went this long without answering the phone.
Sarah sent Brady a message, reminding him to call her back later.
Coincidentally, just after she sent the message, Sarah received a call from the hospital. "Ms. Miller, do you have time today?"
The person on the other end of the phone was Kevin's personal nurse, and Sarah could recognize her voice.
"What's the matter? Is there something wrong with Mr. Jerrett?"
"Nothing's wrong. It's just that Mr. Jerrett is unusually alert today. He woke up wanting to see you. He's in a rare good state today and was wondering if you might have time to come over?"
The nurse sounded very happy, which was a clear sign that it had been a long time since Kevin had been in such a state.
Sarah was pleasantly surprised to hear the news. "I'm free, I'll come right now, thank you for letting me know."
Sarah felt a slight sense of relief in her heart. The moments when Kevin was lucid were very rare nowadays, so she wanted to take this opportunity to visit him quickly and ask the doctor what should be done about Kevin's current medical condition.
'It can't go on like this with him always being in a coma; it's too damaging to his health.'
"Alright, Ms. Miller, see you in a bit."
After ending the call, Sarah immediately drove to the hospital.
For some reason, the closer she got to the hospital, the heavier her heart felt as if something was about to happen.
Sarah didn't think too much of it, attributing her feelings to excitement from not having seen Kevin for a long time.
Upon arrival at the hospital, Sarah parked her car in the parking lot.
Family members of patients typically parked in the outdoor parking lot of the hospital, which was near the inpatient building, accessible via a short path leading to the entrance of the inpatient department.
After parking, Sarah followed her usual routine, buying some gifts and Kevin's favorite treats before heading over.
As she walked, she messaged Antonio to let him know she'd arrived at the hospital and mentioned she intended to invite Brady over for dinner that evening.
Almost instantly after sending the message, Sarah felt a shadow loom over her, followed by a dark shape plummeting before her eyes.
Then, there was a loud crash!
Car glass shards scattered all over the ground, and bright red blood flowed along the tires, staining the grass.
Everyone was stunned by the noise, but Sarah was completely frozen in place.
Sarah watched the familiar clothes on the car in front of her as the gift she was holding fell weightlessly to the ground, rolling under the tire.
"Brady!!!" she screamed.
In an instant, Sarah lost her ability to think. She watched helplessly as Brady rolled off the cold car and into a pool of blood.
She wanted to rush over, but her legs gave out, her mind went blank, and a ringing echoed in her ears. Dropping to her knees on the ground, she stared blankly at Brady lying in the pool of blood.
It must be a nightmare... How could her brother, who was just about to call her, suddenly fall before her eyes?!
Impossible... It couldn't be!
