Chapter 693 What Did You Say?
If he didn't figure these things out and let the situation continue to develop, it probably wouldn't end well!
On the other side, Benjamin listened to the busy tone before expressionlessly pulling the phone away from his ear.
If his guess was correct, Harold should be making a move by now.
'Does he think he can still change anything now? It's just a final struggle,' he thought.
Once he completely dealt with Harold, he could reunite with Sarah and the kids without any worries!
Benjamin coldly curled his lips, spun the phone twice with his slender fingers, and then booked a flight abroad.
After doing all this, he still couldn't calm his mind.
He was wondering if Sarah had calmed down by now.
Benjamin exhaled deeply, stood up, returned to his room to change clothes, and prepared to visit the mountain where the incident had occurred. He remembered Sarah also had said she had found "Antonio's" body.
That must have been Harold's doing!
...
Actually, Sarah's anger had mostly dissipated after changing the password lock.
She had indeed been startled this morning, but after confronting Benjamin, she miraculously felt much calmer. Even the previous resentment she'd harbored began to fade.
Once she calmed down, she wasn't that angry anymore.
After all, in her eyes, Benjamin had always been someone who could do anything.
Still, she couldn't understand why he kept approaching her. When Sarah returned to her room and saw the clothes scattered under the bed, the psychological impact nearly left her gasping for breath.
Although the smell on these clothes had faded, she used to rely on them to fall asleep, and she didn't expect to sleep so soundly last night.
She couldn't even distinguish between dreams and reality.
Sarah smiled bitterly, carefully picked up the clothes, folded them, and put them back in the nearby cabinet.
She wiped the tears from her face and turned to sit in front of the dressing table.
Sarah wondered if she should visit the place where they last met; perhaps he had always been there, watching her.
For the past few months, whenever she missed Antonio, she would go there and sit for a while.
Sarah put on some makeup, gave some instructions to the kids, and then took the car keys and left.
Kevin had just finished watering the flowers and was walking back when he saw her looking unwell.
"Sarah, did something happen again?" he asked with concern
He had heard about the morning's incident from the kids after he got up and was almost furious enough to go out and hit Benjamin, but Sarah stopped him.
"I'm fine." Sarah tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and smiled. "I just want to go out for a walk. Dad, don't worry about me. Just take care of the kids."
Seeing that she didn't seem to be lying, Kevin nodded.
He reminded, "Drive slowly, and if anything is bothering you, make sure to tell me. Don't keep it to yourself."
Sarah's nose tingled. "Okay, I know, Dad."
She said nothing more and drove all the way to Mistpeak Mountain, the place where she and Antonio had last parted.
After more than an hour, the car finally reached the base of Mistpeak Mountain. The road had recently been repaired, but it was still only drivable halfway up the mountain.
Sarah parked the car and then walked up the mountain.
Being five months pregnant, she couldn't walk very quickly. Despite her slow pace, she was out of breath by the time she reached the top and had to rest on a stone bench for a while.
The weather was nice today, and she was sweating from the walk.
After resting for a moment, Sarah stood up and was startled to see a figure by the cliff!
Her eyes were filled with disbelief, but she hurried over, cradling her belly as if fearing the person in front of her might vanish.
Benjamin sat by the cliff, having hiked up from the base of the mountain. He had changed into comfortable clothes—a gray casual outfit he wore daily.
He would never forget that he had once died in this place.
And now, he was back alive.
While looking at the sea below, his face showed no emotion; only the waves reflected in his eyes, as if sparks danced on the water.
Suddenly, he heard footsteps approaching from behind.
He instantly masked his expression. When he turned around, he was stunned. "Sarah?"
'How could Sarah be here? Could this be what they call telepathy?' he thought, excitedly.
Sarah hadn't had time to hide her daze, and when she saw his brown eyes, she snapped back to reality.
"You, Benjamin? Why are you here?" she asked, a bit disappointed.
Benjamin's lips moved, but he finally just smiled and said, "I came to take a look."
He couldn't tell her yet.
Or rather, he didn't dare to tell her.
Even though it was painful, ensuring her safety was the top priority.
Harold's surveillance of him was irregular, random, and completely unavoidable.
He could only do this, even though he knew he was useless. But with a little time, he would soon reunite with Sarah!
Sarah didn't notice his discomfort, still looking a bit confused.
But a gust of wind suddenly cleared her mind, and she realized it was all her illusion, forcing a smile. "I see."
She had forgotten that Antonio was already dead.
Even if his soul was still here, she couldn't see it.
But Benjamin clearly saw the disappointment in her eyes and felt a strong urge to hug her. However, given what had happened this morning, he knew that any action on his part would definitely backfire.
He had to control his feelings.
"Do you want to sit together?" he asked.
After saying this, Benjamin worried she might misunderstand and quickly explained, "Sarah, don't worry! I won't do anything. Just consider what happened last night as me being drunk and offending you!"
Sarah's lips curled with a hint of bitterness, and she shook her head with a smile.
In this place, how could she bring herself to argue with him?
She said nothing, choosing instead to sit quietly away from Benjamin. As she tidied her hair, tousled by the sea breeze, she gazed quietly at the sea below.
The atmosphere was rare and harmonious, with none of the morning's chaos.
It was as if nothing had happened.
Benjamin glanced at Sarah, who was not far away. She had applied makeup today and looked good, but despite her delicate appearance, she emanated a profound sadness. At that moment, he almost felt heartbroken to the point of being unable to breathe.
Benjamin turned his gaze back, trying hard to suppress his emotions, and suddenly said, "Asa is dead."
He wondered if this news would make her a little happier.
Sarah was shocked. "What did you say?"
