Chapter 882 Suddenly Dead

Ryan thus stayed in the hospital as he wished, living and eating with Lisa.

The caregiver Sarah hired would report the hospital's situation to her promptly.

Ryan was genuinely taking care of Lisa.

Pouring her water, getting tissues, and even carefully picking out fish bones for her.

Seeing these updates, Sarah felt increasingly uneasy but also paradoxically thought that as long as Ryan was happy, it was fine.

Antonio still wanted to bring Ryan back, but she stopped him, comforting both him and herself, "Ryan just hasn't figured things out yet; he will eventually."

But what they didn't know was that Ryan's dependence and trust in Lisa were due to the medication. As long as the medication continued, Ryan would become increasingly attached to her, until he believed that Lisa was the only good person in the world and everyone else was bad.

That night, the world was silent.

Ryan slept soundly. In the moonlight, Lisa reached out to gently stroke his face, her sinister voice like that of a demon. "Ryan, I've already bet everything. You must see me as your only mommy, and mommy will make you my only child, understand?"

"Be good, and once we get back what's ours, mommy will make it up to you."

The demonic voice entered Ryan's ears.

In his sleep, he knew that Elara was his mommy, and he was Elara's only child.

Lisa looked at the little face gently rubbing against her palm and finally showed a satisfied smile. She tucked him in and ghosted him out of the ward.

She had another task to do.

Early the next morning, a nurse came running in from outside, looking anxious. "Ms. West, something terrible has happened! Wake up quickly!"

The two people cuddling on the hospital bed were awakened.

"What's wrong?" Lisa looked confused, her hand still gently patting Ryan's back, like a real mother and son.

The nurse didn't care about these details and grabbed her arm, "Get up quickly! Your son... your son is in trouble!"

"Wha?" Lisa acted convincingly, her lips trembling in disbelief.

"You just said my son Ronan... what happened to him?"

"He was fine during the night check, but this morning when we went to examine him, we found his heartbeat was very weak. It's estimated that... you should go see for yourself!"

Lisa stood there in a daze for a while, her face pale.

The nurse thought she was in shock and sighed, offering a few words of comfort.

Ryan understood too and reached out to hold her, "Ms. West, I'll go with you."

"Okay." Lisa got up and went out with the nurse, holding Ryan's hand tightly as if it were a lifeline.

When they arrived, the doctor was just coming out of the emergency room.

He took off his mask and looked at Lisa. "Sorry, we did our best. The family should prepare for the funeral."

For a mother, these words were nothing short of despair.

Lisa seemed to lose all her strength in an instant, collapsing to the ground, "How could this be? Ronan was fine yesterday! He even asked me to take him to the amusement park. You're lying to me, aren't you?"

She suddenly went mad, screaming and shouting in despair. "Ronan! My Ronan! You are so unfortunate! How can I live now that you're gone? You're all I have left in this world."

In her heart, Lisa sneered, 'Ronan, you should blame your useless parents. I'm just helping you reunite with your short-lived mom!'

Lisa played the role of a grieving mother to perfection.

Seeing her so upset, Ryan's little heart ached too. He knelt on the ground to hug her, crying and comforting her. "Elara, please don't cry. Ronan wouldn't want to see you so sad in heaven. You still have me. I will never leave you!"

Seeing her cry so sadly, Ryan felt a deep pain in his heart, a pain that crying couldn't alleviate. Suddenly, it was as if a voice in his mind was guiding him.

He felt panicked but still blurted out the words. "Will you be my mommy? I'll be your child and stay by your side instead of Ronan!"

Lisa, crying in distress, seemed to pause for a moment at his words. Then she hugged Ryan's small body tightly, breaking down, "Ryan, you must never leave me!"

They sat on the floor of the emergency room, crying like a mother and son separated by life and death, moving everyone who saw them.

Passersby didn't disturb them.

After a long time, Lisa, almost fainting from crying, was helped up by the caregiver.

Ryan wiped his tears and choked out, "Elara, let's take Ronan home."

Lisa's swollen eyes flickered slightly. If it weren't so inappropriate, she would have laughed out loud.

Ryan was truly her good son!

All her efforts for him had not been in vain!

"Okay." Lisa, pale and weak, said, "Ryan, maybe you should stay in the hospital. If you come with me, Mrs. Valencia will be very worried."

Ryan hesitated, a flash of confusion in his eyes.

The next moment, he firmly shook his head. "It's okay. Being with you is the most important!"

An hour later, Lisa, still not fully recovered, left with Ryan, putting on a show in front of the caregiver.

It was Ryan who insisted on going with her; she had initially refused.

The caregiver, helpless, could only call to report the situation after they left.

Sarah was shocked to hear the news, "How could this happen so suddenly?"

"I asked the caregiver. She said Ronan must have eaten something during the day that got stuck in his throat, and it blocked his airway while he was sleeping, causing him to suffocate."

In short, it was all an accident.

Sarah sighed, "Elara is really pitiful. Since Ryan insists, let him stay with her a bit longer, as a way of repaying her."

She was now a bit afraid to force Ryan anymore.

Ryan's disappointed, resentful, and hateful look always made her heart ache whenever she thought of it.

She hoped that this incident would help Ryan figure things out.

While Sarah reflected on her parenting methods, Ryan and Lisa grew closer.

Ronan was still a child, so the funeral was simple.

Lisa had Ronan buried in his hometown.

During all this, Ryan stayed by her side, feeling more and more that Elara was pitiful. He decided he must never leave her alone in the future!
