Chapter 83 Sarah, Admit You Care About Me

Suddenly, a low sobbing sound yanked Antonio out of his thoughts. His eyes darted to Harper, who was snuggled up in Sarah's arms.

For some reason, seeing Harper bawling like that made Antonio feel all kinds of uneasy.

He frowned, walked over, squatted down, and gently patted Harper's head.

"He's gone. Stop crying.""

Then he looked at Sarah, his eyes serious. "Don't sweat what Philip said. He's always been like that."

Sarah's face stayed blank, but from Philip's behavior and words, she picked up on a lot of issues.

She had a ton to say but didn't know where to start.

Just then, Harper wriggled out of her arms and rushed to hug Antonio. "Why did that old man hit you? And he yelled at us. He's so mean, I hate him!"

She cried even harder. The scene of Antonio getting hit kept replaying in her mind, making her heart ache. Her tiny hands clung tightly to Antonio's waist.

Harper's tears and hug made Antonio's heart flutter, but in the process, Harper accidentally brushed against his wound.

He winced slightly, then hid the pain in his eyes.

Sarah, standing nearby, noticed Antonio's expression. She quickly pulled Harper back. "Harper, let's go back to the room first."

Saying this, Sarah didn't give Harper a chance to cry more and took her back to the room.

After calming Harper down, she grabbed the first aid kit and headed to Antonio's room.

The room was dimly lit. Antonio sat by the bed, not moving, his expression heavy, his eyes dark and brooding.

He looked like a fallen lion king, wrapped in despair.

It was the first time Sarah had seen him like this, and she couldn't help but sigh inwardly.

The Antonio she knew was always confident, decisive, and proud. But when facing Philip, he was so restrained.

Why did he put up with those baseless accusations?

And what did Philip's last words mean?

But in the end, Sarah didn't ask anything. She walked over and said softly, "Let me put some medicine on you."

His injury was on his back, and part of it was from protecting her. So, she should help him with the medicine.

With Antonio's nod, Sarah removed his robe, revealing some nasty bruises on his back.

It was clear how hard Philip had hit him. How could he be so cruel to Antonio!

Sarah felt a mix of anger and sadness.

She bit her lip, took some ointment, and carefully applied it to Antonio's broad back, her movements super gentle, afraid of hurting him.

"Hang in there, I'll be as gentle as I can."

Antonio's face was tense, but a soft light appeared in his eyes. "It's just a small injury, no big deal."

Hearing this, Sarah got inexplicably angry, her tone a bit sharp. "Small injury? Do you even know what your back looks like?"

She really wanted to take a photo and show him, asking, "Is this what you call a small injury?"

Antonio's thin lips curved into a smile. "You're worried about me."

He hadn't forgotten that when Philip hit him, she wanted to stand up for him. "Sarah, you still care about me."

Hearing this, Sarah frowned, feeling super uncomfortable. She stubbornly said, "Don't flatter yourself. I just can't stand it. If it were someone else, I'd still stand up for them."

She felt a bit flustered, and her hand unconsciously pressed harder.

Antonio's handsome brows furrowed slightly, and he sucked in a sharp breath.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to." Sarah instinctively froze, but then she caught herself and changed her tone. "Who told you to squirm around? Serves you right!"

After that, she sped up applying the medicine, but her touch remained gentle. Antonio stayed quiet, but the corners of his lips held a faint smile.

The room fell silent as Sarah focused on the ointment, but every time her fingertips brushed his skin, it felt like a burn, causing a faint blush to rise on her cheeks.

Antonio couldn't see Sarah's expression, only feeling the cool ointment spreading on his back, bringing both pain and a weird sense of peace.

Besides that, Sarah's warm fingertips occasionally touched his skin, sending waves of electricity through him, making his breath gradually heavier.

The air kept getting warmer.

Suddenly, Antonio turned around, his narrow eyes locking onto Sarah. Seeing her flushed cheeks, he couldn't help himself. His eyes flashed, and the next second, he grabbed her wrist.

Sarah was caught off guard. Her wrist was restrained by Antonio. His strong grip pulled her over, and before she knew it, she was sitting in Antonio's lap, her waist tightly held by him.

In an instant, she was shocked, her nerves tensed up, trying to break free from his hold. "Let go of me!"

With only a couple of flimsy layers of fabric between them, her struggle inadvertently brushed off Antonio's robe.

To Antonio, she was undoubtedly seducing him.

He held the restless Sarah in his arms and lowered his head to kiss her.

Sarah's heart trembled. She couldn't let him take advantage of her again!

She turned her head to avoid him, her eyes regaining their calmness, and timely interrupted Antonio, "When are you gonna sign the divorce papers?"

Suddenly, Antonio paused, and the fire in his eyes was instantly extinguished by her words.

He lowered his eyes, his thin lips tightly pressed, his face grim, thinking, 'Sarah always manages to piss me off!'

At such a moment, she was still thinking about divorcing him.

Seeing her crisis temporarily averted, Sarah took the chance to try to escape from Antonio's arms. But unexpectedly, Antonio grabbed the back of her head, forcing her to look only at him.

The flames in Antonio's eyes reignited, but this time, there was a hint of anger. "Want a divorce? Have a kid first."

With that, he leaned in again.

Sarah quickly raised her hand to block him. Facing Antonio's unreasonable behavior, she was really tired and didn't want to be tangled up with him anymore.

"Antonio, do we really need to continue this? You're with Lisa and Ryan now. If we divorce,  Ryan can be part of the Valencia family. Do you want him to be seen as your illegitimate child forever?"

Sarah couldn't understand why Antonio wouldn't let her go.

Antonio paused once more, his deep eyes filled with an inky darkness. He pursed his lips, hesitant yet eager to speak, "That child..."
