Chapter 584 More Scary Than a Ghost!
Sofia's hand paused. "Ah... there's something I need to take care of outside."
Sarah had specifically instructed that Alex shouldn't know about this matter, so Sofia had to keep it a secret.
Alex placed the milk on the bedside table. "It's already late. Can't it wait until tomorrow to handle?"
Sofia smiled happily because of his concern. She kissed Alex on the face while turning around and quickly went to change her clothes, saying, "It's an urgent matter... I can't postpone it until tomorrow."
After changing clothes, she started to pack her bag. "I might not be back until late, so you should go back and rest early."
At present, they weren't living together. Typically, Alex would return to his own house to sleep.
Sofia didn't consider her words to be inappropriate. With her back turned to Alex, she couldn't see his expression, but she heard him emit a sound of agreement.
"Well then, I'll leave first!"
Sofia glanced at the time and didn't have time for further conversation. She hurriedly left, saying, "Drive safely on your way back."
Alex watched her leave and felt a twinge of jealousy when he thought about the male voice on the phone earlier.
If he had heard correctly, it seemed like Sophia had suggested meeting up.
Why would a man and a woman have an important matter to discuss in the late evening?
…
Soon, Sofia arrived at the agreed bar, and Richard was already waiting there.
She walked over and placed her bag down, then naturally picked up the drink in front of Richard and drank it all. "I was so thirsty!" she exclaimed.
Sofia had the matter at hand in her mind and didn't want to waste time chatting. She presented the photo Sarah had sent her on her phone and told Richard about the incident with Asa in detail.
As Richard listened to this strange story, his interest was piqued, and he raised an eyebrow.
As Sofia's close friend, he also knew Sarah.
"So, what does she want me to do?"
"Is that even a question?"
"Of course, she wants me to find out what's fishy here! And Sarah suspects that there might be someone behind Asa."
In this world, there was no shortage of powerful figures.
For some people, falsifying someone's information was as easy as making someone disappear.
But eventually, the truth would be revealed.
Richard nodded thoughtfully. "I understand."
Sofia was worried. "Can we check?"
"Of course we can." Richard scowled at her. "Don't you trust me?"
"I do, I do, I do!" Sofia finally felt relieved, "After you finish this, I promise to introduce you to a few handsome guys! You can pick whoever you want!"
"Hmph! I have plenty of high-quality resources. Thanks for the offer," Richard replied.
Richard transferred the photos and information to his phone before looking up at Sofia. "What about you? Have you recently started dating someone?"
"You sure know a lot." Sofia blushed slightly when mentioning Alex.
"He's the boyfriend I managed to snatch with my skills, but he'll definitely be my last boyfriend!"
"Snatched?" Richard's interest piqued as he poured her a cocktail. "Tell me more. How did you manage to snatch him?"
"Well..." Sofia was genuinely feeling a little embarrassed now. "You know, usually, after men and women have a few drinks, they tend to lose control a little bit. I couldn't control myself, so I took care of him."
Richard widened his eyes. "You're so bold!"
"That's right." Sofia raised an eyebrow. "Don't forget who I am. Is there anyone I can't handle?"
Richard's unique perspective enabled him to discern the essence of the problem. "Once you've truly settled in, I'd be delighted to join in the celebration with you."
Upon hearing this, Sofia's mood became despondent.
Could she and Alex really have a chance to settle down?
"What's wrong?" Richard noticed that she wasn't feeling quite right and frowned. "Did he hurt you?"
"No." Sofia smiled bitterly and shook her head, sighing. "It's just that when you brought this up, I started feeling uncertain. Alex… He has always had someone he can't forget."
Richard wasn't adept at handling such situations either, but he offered her comfort nonetheless. "It's okay. If he's with you, it means he has feelings for you too. Just strive to become unforgettable to him, alright?"
"Yes!"
"Oh, by the way…" Richard suddenly took out a box in a mysterious manner. "I have something good for you!"
"What is it?" Sofia opened it skeptically and exclaimed, "This watch is so hard to buy! You actually managed to get it!"
Before Richard went on a business trip abroad, she had asked him to bring back a watch for her. Specifically, it was a limited edition timepiece that Alex had been longing for but was nearly impossible to find in America.
Sofia received the watch from Richard and thought about how Alex would react to receiving it. He would probably be very happy, right?
She put the watch into her bag and said, "Let's just leave it at that for today and go home early."
If they were lucky, Alex might still be around.
Richard gave her a knowing look and said, "Let's go."
They walked out of the bar side by side. Just as they reached the door, he suddenly grabbed Sofia and said, "Wait, wait!"
While shouting, he hid behind her. "Block me a bit!"
Sofia looked confused and looked ahead a few times, but she didn't see anything different. "Are you seeing ghosts?"
"Scarier than ghosts!"
