Chapter 194 The Man in the Photo Appears!

Asa's hand swiftly closed around her arm, his grip firm yet gentle, keeping her from tumbling to the ground.

"Thank you," she murmured, drawing a deep breath before pulling her arm away. She stood tall, her face etched with determination.

Noticing her grimace of pain, Asa's voice filled with concern. "Are you okay? Perhaps I should carry you..."

She managed a weak smile, shaking her head in response. "I'm fine, I can walk. Let's proceed."

With that, she attempted to limp forward, but as soon as her injured foot grazed the ground, a searing pain twisted her features.

If she continued to force herself to walk, she knew her foot would be out of commission for a significant period. She glanced at Asa, a sense of helplessness washing over her.

"I'm sorry, I don't think I can continue..."

Supporting herself with one hand, she lowered herself to the ground, rolling up her pant leg to inspect her ankle.

Asa knelt beside her, his gaze falling on her swollen, discolored ankle—a clear indication of a severe injury.

"Let me carry you. We have a mission to complete. Waiting for rescue will only delay us further..." His expression turned serious as he spoke.

Sarah felt a pang of unease, but Asa's mention of their mission made her reluctantly agree.

"Come closer," Asa instructed, turning around and crouching down, inviting her to lean against him.

She moved closer, a wave of discomfort washing over her.

Suddenly, her mind flashed back to Antonio carrying her when she was injured. His faint scent of pine, mingled with his uniquely masculine aroma, always brought her a sense of comfort...

"Hold on to my neck, so you won't fall again," Asa reminded her. Despite her awkwardness, she knew she couldn't be too reserved, as it would only exacerbate the tension between them.

Suppressing the strange feeling in her heart, she placed her hands on his shoulders, her arms gently encircling his neck.

As they continued their journey, Sarah tried to maintain some distance from Asa. Yet, from a distance, their closeness could easily be misconstrued.

As they rounded a bend in the road, the sound of voices reached their ears.

With Sarah on his back, Asa moved towards the source of the sound. Sarah's eyes widened as she recognized a familiar, towering figure in the distance.

"Mr. Valencia, Ms. Jerrett," Asa greeted, a faint smile on his lips as he walked past them, Sarah still on his back.

Realizing Antonio was present, Sarah instinctively tried to dismount from Asa's back.

However, Asa's grip on her leg was firm, preventing her from falling. Before she could extricate herself, she found herself locked in Antonio's icy, penetrating gaze.

"Antonio, listen to me..." she began, struggling to explain as she tried to jump off Asa's back.

But Antonio, his face dark with suppressed jealousy, had already approached them.

His gaze froze as he recognized the man carrying Sarah.

It was him! The man from the photo.

That scoundrel! As Sarah began to speak, a cold gust of wind swept past them, and without waiting for her to finish, Antonio swung his fist toward Asa.

"Antonio, please, you must calm yourself! Things are not as they appear!" Sarah's voice trembled with fear as she watched Asa receive a harsh blow from Antonio. Without a second thought, she leapt into the fray.

Unbeknownst to Sarah, Antonio had received certain photographs prior to their separation. She assumed that Asa had simply misunderstood the situation when he saw her in Antonio's company.

However, Antonio seemed oblivious to her pleas. His eyes, cold and distant, burned with a frosty fury that sent shivers down her spine.

As Antonio reached out to seize Asa by the collar, Sarah sprang forward, desperate to intervene.

"I tripped and twisted my ankle," she began, her voice filled with urgency. "I didn't want to delay our work, so I asked Mr. Donat to carry me..."

Her intention was to pacify Antonio, but in her haste, she had forgotten about her injured foot. Her words trailed off as a sharp pain shot through her ankle, causing her to lose her balance and crumple to the ground.

From a distance, Serene watched the scene unfold. She saw Antonio stride towards Asa, his fist clenched in anger, while Sarah seemed to be desperately trying to defuse the situation.

The sight left her momentarily stunned. She hurried over, her brow furrowed in concern, wondering if there were personal grudges at play between the two men.

"Mr. Valencia, what is the meaning of this?" she demanded, reaching out to help Sarah to her feet.

"Asa is the vice-president of J&K and the project lead. This behavior..." She trailed off, introducing Asa's position in the hope that it might quell their personal animosity.

But Antonio remained silent, his gaze icy and his expression dark. His chilling stare met Sarah's, a whirlwind of resentment, anger, and a hint of hurt swirling within his eyes.

Sarah was at a loss. She couldn't comprehend why Antonio was looking at her with such intensity. It left her feeling isolated and alone.

For a moment, she remained on the ground, her gaze locked with Antonio's, oblivious to Serene's presence.

Serene observed the tense atmosphere between the two, her confusion growing. She was about to interject when she noticed Antonio approach Sarah. His expression was stormy as he crouched down beside her, gently cradling her in his arms.
