Chapter 225 Damn, Unexpected Wardrobe Malfunction!
"What's going on? Doesn't Mr. Valencia only have one son? Why are there suddenly two popping up? And who is that woman..."
The group of people continued to chatter incessantly, each sharing their own opinions. Yet, all eyes seemed to hold unanimous envy, particularly as Antonio tenderly placed Sarah's hand on his arm. Their gaze lingered on the pair.
Noticing Sarah becoming the topic of discussion, Antonio discreetly shielded her from the greedy glances of certain men, all due to her good looks.
Sarah caught onto his subtle protective gestures and couldn't help but smile softly.
Suddenly, someone in the crowd exclaimed, "Wait a minute! Haven't you noticed that her dress looks familiar?"
The others began to carefully observe.
"Yeah, I was wondering why it looked so familiar. Isn't she wearing the exact same dress as Ms. Jerrett today?"
Their voices weren't quiet, and Sarah naturally heard them.
"Enough already, Ms. Jerrett is here!"
Sarah was momentarily stunned. She followed the crowd's gaze and saw Serene. She was wearing the exact same dress as hers at the other end, talking to Lucien.
At Lucien's birthday party, most of the attendees were from high society, so having a twinning moment like this was extremely embarrassing.
Although Sarah's looks surpassed Serene's, they were still newcomers. Coupled with the fact that Lucien seemed to have never glanced at Sarah from the beginning, some people's comments started to turn rude.
"Why is this coincidental incident happening at a party? It's hard to tell if it's a coincidence or intentional..."
"Exactly, attending a birthday party should not have turned into a competition for some people."
A few wealthy ladies had already made assumptions, believing that Sarah intentionally caused the copycat moment just to make Serene look bad.
The atmosphere became increasingly awkward for a while, and Serene also noticed the situation.
A quick glint flashed in her eyes, but she comported herself gracefully, gathered her skirt, and walked confidently towards Sarah. There was no trace of displeasure on her face.
"Mr. Valencia, Ms. Miller, long time no see."
She smiled and glanced at the two, her eyes carrying a faint smile. She particularly looked at the people around Sarah, who were discussing her. It seemed like she was silently supporting her.
Sarah also smiled and shook hands with her. "Ms. Jerrett, long time no see."
Serene did not show any displeasure about the twinning moment. Sarah couldn't help but look at her a few more times, feeling an indescribable emotion in her heart.
However, upon seeing Serene's behavior, the surrounding people only thought she was charitable. Their gazes towards Sarah still had hints of dislike.
Upon seeing Sarah being scrutinized by the hostile gazes, Antonio's heart sank abruptly.
"I'll ask James to buy another dress and send it over," he said without hiding his support for Sarah in front of Serene.
Serene's gaze fell on Sarah's hand resting on Antonio's shoulder, but she said nothing and withdrew her gaze.
"It's alright. If necessary, I'll have someone buy another dress and replace it. Ms. Miller looks great in this dress. It accentuates her demeanor," Serene said.
Sarah immediately shook her head, grabbing Antonio's hand to stop Serene from doing anything.
Sarah skillfully tore the hem of her gown in front of anyone, turning the long skirt into a knee-length one effortlessly. She then took off her headband and deftly fashioned it into the shape of a rose with a few quick moves. She took out a brooch from her bag and pinned it on the left side of her chest.
The snowy white feathers were instantly adorned with a touch of rose gold, transforming her from an ethereal fairy to a sexy yet pure elf.
With this display, every guest present was amazed by her actions and mesmerized by her beauty!
The people who had just defended Serene instantaneously found no reason to criticize Sarah. After all, she willingly tore her clothes for Serene's sake and became even more beautiful after the alteration!
Naturally, Lucien noticed the situation with Sarah and cast a disgusted glance.
"Trivial skills!"
His voice carried no concealment, and even those nearby could hear it, sensing his disapproval of Sarah.
Everyone fell silent and dared not say anything more in praise.
Since Sarah was present, she naturally had her own duties to fulfill. She approached Lucien and handed him the gift, respectfully saying, "Grandfather, happy birthday. I wish you a long and blessed life."
Lucien, however, only looked at it with disdain. The butler collected it and put it aside without even glancing at it.
He completely ignored Sarah, Harper, and Ethan. He only spoke to the child he acknowledged in his heart. "Ryan, come and let your great-grandfather see you. Why have you been losing weight lately..."
Harper and Ethan's faces turned grim as they witnessed this scene.
Ryan felt awkward as well. "Great-grandfather, you shouldn't do this. Daddy's wife prepared the gift for you a long time ago. Harper and Ethan are also our family..."
He anxiously grabbed Lucien's hand.
However, Lucien's face instantly turned sour. "Ryan, you're still young and don't understand many things. Don't let outsiders mislead you. This woman is a fox. In the future, you should have less contact with her!"
Lucien was resolute, giving Ryan no chance to speak again. He instantly assumed that Sarah had said something behind his back, causing even his great-grandson to speak up for her. As such, he glared at Sarah with resentment.
The atmosphere became tense when suddenly Asa, who represented the J&K Group and was invited to the birthday party, made his entrance.
Because of Lucien's attitude toward Sarah, Antonio has been closely following her, unaware that Serene came alone and also unaware of Asa's arrival.
It wasn't until the birthday party reached the dancing segment that Serene suddenly approached Antonio.
"Mr. Valencia, I've heard about your impressive dancing skills. Would you do me the honor of dancing with me?"
