Chapter 93 I Don't Like Dad Anymore

And then, at the zoo, Harper showed such intelligence and bravery by actually jumping into the gator pool to rescue him.

Ever since then, he thought she was pretty cool and wanted to be buds with her.

But he knew she wasn't into him; she straight-up said he was the son of a bad woman.

Thinking about it, Ryan's eyes dropped, his pale little face showing a mix of disappointment and a hint of guilt.

Seeing this, Harper suddenly felt a bit uneasy for some reason.

Anyone looking at him would think he had done something wrong.

She still didn't want to deal with Ryan, so she snorted and walked off.

Just then, a gust of wind blew by, snatching Harper's headband right off her head.

"Oh no!" Harper reached out to grab it but missed, watching helplessly as it landed on a tree branch.

She immediately put her hands on her hips, glaring at the headband hanging up there.

Harper stomped her foot and ran to the tree, trying to get the headband down, but no matter how high she jumped, she couldn't reach it.

Seeing this, Ryan rushed over. "Don't worry, I'll get it for you."

Harper wanted to refuse, but before she could say anything, she saw Ryan hugging the tree trunk.

Ryan looked up at the headband, feeling a bit nervous and scared.

Actually, it was his first time climbing a tree too. He wasn't in great health, and Lisa never let him do anything risky, let alone something as wild as this.

But for Harper, he was willing to give it a shot.

Luckily, it was a short tree. Ryan gritted his teeth, climbed up, and snagged the headband.

"Here you go." Still up in the tree, he handed the headband down to Harper, like he was giving her a trophy.

Harper had been watching the whole time. She wanted to tell Ryan to mind his own business, but she couldn't help but worry about him.

When Ryan turned his head, a ray of morning light hit his pale little face, making his smile look even more pure.

Harper reached out to take the headband, feeling a momentary touch in her heart.

Ryan didn't seem as annoying as his mom, Lisa.

Just then, Antonio came into the garden looking for Ryan and saw him up in the tree from a distance.

"Ryan!" Antonio's eyes darkened, and he rushed over.

He carefully lifted Ryan down, noticing his pale face covered in cold sweat. His eyes filled with worry. "Is your heart acting up again?"

Ryan shook his head. "Dad, I'm fine."

His heart was still racing a bit, but it didn't hurt.

Antonio felt a bit relieved, but why would Ryan do something so risky?

He looked at Harper and saw the headband in her hand, immediately piecing it together.

Antonio's eyes turned cold, and he asked Harper in a low voice, "Did you make him climb the tree?"

Ryan wasn't in good health, and Antonio never let him do anything dangerous.

And Ryan was always well-behaved; he wouldn't climb a tree for fun.

Harper was totally caught off guard by the sudden scolding, and tears started welling up in her big eyes. "No! He wanted to climb the tree himself; I didn't need his help at all!"

She didn't do anything wrong, but Antonio was coming down on her because of Ryan.

Feeling super wronged, Harper pouted and couldn't hold back her tears anymore.

She wiped her tears and glared at Ryan in Antonio's arms. "You're a bad guy. I hate you!"

With that, Harper threw the headband on the ground and ran off crying.

Ryan watched Harper run away, his little heart aching, and he wanted to chase after her, but he was still in Antonio's arms.

He could only try to explain, "Dad, Harper didn't force me. Her headband got stuck in the tree, and she couldn't reach it, so..."

"Enough, don't say anymore." Antonio cut him off, his voice cold. He gently put Ryan down and said, "Go back to your room."

Ryan hesitated but didn't dare say anything more and walked away with his head down.

Antonio stood there alone, his tall figure casting a long shadow.

After a while, he bent down and picked up the pink headband from the ground.

Looking at the headband, Antonio's deep eyes were filled with complex emotions.

Harper's crying face stuck in his mind, and for some reason, he felt a strange pain for her tears.

Meanwhile, Harper ran back to her room crying, jumped onto her big bed, and buried her head in the covers.

Sure enough, Ryan was just as bad as his mom Lisa!

Ryan was just pretending to be pitiful to get Antonio's attention, and she naively thought he was really helping her!

When Sarah opened the door, she saw Harper with her head under the covers, crying muffledly. She immediately went over and asked, "Harper, what happened?"

Why was Harper crying so early in the morning?

Sarah pulled back the covers to find Harper crying.

Her heart ached, and she quickly grabbed a tissue from the bedside to wipe Harper's tears.

While wiping, she comforted, "Don't cry. Tell Mommy, who bullied you?"

Harper's little shoulders trembled, and she sobbed, "It was Dad. He scolded me because of Ryan."

Hearing this, Sarah felt even more heartbroken, and a surge of anger rose in her heart. 'Antonio is getting more and more outrageous. He even dares to bully Harper for Ryan!'

Her kid was her bottom line, and her anger flared up instantly. She stood up and vowed, "Don't worry, Harper, Mommy won't let you be wronged for nothing."

With that, she stormed out, ready to seek justice for Harper.

At the same time, Antonio took Harper's headband to the second floor, intending to apologize to Harper.

He was an adult, yet he questioned a kid; he indeed overthought it.

And Harper's crying face made his heart ache.

He also found it ridiculous that he felt heartache for Harper, who was Sarah's child with another man.

However, after taking a few steps, Antonio ran into Sarah in the hallway, who had come to confront him.
