Chapter 384 Ready to Collect Your Corpse at Any Time
James was dumbfounded. As someone who had been by Antonio's side for the longest time, he matter-of-factly knew his intentions behind doing this. But was it too exaggerated to give everyone in the company a gift just so Sarah would accept what he had given her?
"Hurry up," Antonio urged.
James didn't dare to delay and quickly delivered the gifts to the entire company.
Sarah understood the underlying meaning behind it all.
Antonio paced back and forth in his office. "Go, order boba tea for the whole company, with Sarah's favorite, Choco-Caramel."
And so, the company received another thoughtful gift from Mr. Valencia.
The other employees in the company were puzzled, discussing among themselves what great fortune Antonio must have encountered.
Sarah glanced at the mirror on her desk and caught Antonio stealing glances at her from his office, feeling increasingly helpless.
Antonio was overjoyed to see Sarah accepting all the things he had ordered for her, coincidentally with a cake advertisement playing on a billboard outside.
Thus. James went to the bakery and ordered mini cakes for the entire company.
Seeing the desk piled with snacks and the constant messages in the employee group thanking the Valencia couple, Sarah felt restless and agitated.
Why was Antonio so childish? Couldn't he just focus on his work?
Antonio was still thinking about how to win Sarah's favor. "James, do you think there's anything else Sarah needs? Should I order dinner for her as well?"
James was also a bit helpless. "Mr. Valencia, I think it's better to focus on our work first. Your wife's paperwork is piling up, and earlier when I went to deliver the cake, her expression almost scared me."
James's reminder finally made Antonio realize the importance of working efficiently and aiming to leave the office early. Time should not be squandered within the company.
"Bring me Sarah's files," Antonio finally started to work seriously.
Unexpectedly, James returned empty-handed. "Mr. Valencia, Mrs. Valencia is not at her desk."
"What!" Antonio paused for a moment and immediately went out to look for her.
At that moment, Sarah just wanted to relax near the company.
The day was dominated by Antonio's disruptions, yet Sarah remained unfazed by the gifts. She recognized them as Antonio's attempts at apology and goodwill, which softened her heart despite her reservations.
However, Sarah hesitated to reconcile solely based on these gestures. Their unresolved issues loomed large, with explanations still lacking for the tangled mess they faced. No number of gifts could mend the trust that had been broken.
Furthermore, Sarah grappled with Serene's predicament, complicating her path forward. Uncertainty clouded her outlook on the days ahead.
She paused mid-thought, contemplating her next step.
As Sarah descended the stairs from the company, she suddenly noticed a suspicious figure near the distant flower bed. Having dealt with paparazzi harassment in the past, Sarah became immediately cautious and approached the figure, only to realize he was lunging directly towards her.
"Sarah, where have you been? Do you have any idea how long I've been searching for you? No one was at home or the company. Are you purposely avoiding me?"
Sarah paused, surprised to see Victor whom she hadn't seen in a long time.
"I've been caught up with a lot of things lately. What do you want from me?" Sarah responded, clearly impatient.
Victor wiped away his tears. "What else could I want from you when I'm being chased by debt collectors? If I can't find you again, you'll be collecting my corpse!"
"It's all because of your gambling addiction. If you keep going like this in the future, I really will be prepared to collect your corpse at any given moment."
Sarah was already somewhat annoyed, and now with Victor's accusations, her temper was further ignited.
Victor was taken aback. He didn't expect Sarah to be so resolute, but luckily he had come prepared.
"I know, it's all my fault. But if your mother had stayed with me all those years ago, I wouldn't have ended up like this. I've been trying to find her all these years, but I didn't have the money. I was deceived into going to the casino."
As Victor spoke, he took out a well-preserved photograph from his pocket...
