Chapter 617 Care for the Baby in the Womb
The next day, Ethan received a call from the paternity DNA testing center early in the morning, saying that the DNA test result was ready!
He was extremely excited and went to pick it up right away.
After getting the results, he hesitated for a moment and didn't open it.
Anyway, he absolutely believed in the DNA results—Benjamin was the father! He did this test just to make his Mommy and Daddy believe.
Now that the results were out, he wanted to wait and see it together with Sarah to enjoy the surprise moment as a family!
At that moment, Sarah was resting in the villa, and she hadn't gone to the company that day.
Early in the morning, she felt very uncomfortable, with a strange feeling of discomfort in her chest, a sense of impending doom, as if something was about to happen.
Sarah rubbed her forehead and sighed.
She comforted herself that maybe it was because too many things had happened recently, along with Benjamin always appearing in front of her, unconsciously substituting him with Antonio's identity.
Perhaps that was the reason why she was feeling this way.
Sarah had just laid down on the bed for a while when the phone beside her suddenly rang.
Without opening her eyes, she picked it up and answered, "Hello."
A voice said, "Ms. Miller, we are from the police station. Just this morning, we found Mr. Valencia's whereabouts. Are you available now to come and identify him?"
Sarah suddenly opened her eyes, disbelief filling her bloodshot eyes, and asked, "What did you say?"
The police officer explained, "Residents near the beach found him. He seems to have been washed ashore by the sea; his body tissues look like they've been soaked for a long time, but the forensic has confirmed that he is indeed Mr. Valencia without a doubt."
The police officer on the phone repeated the words, knowing that this was cruel to the family, and ended with a couple of words of comfort, "Ms. Miller, my condolences."
Sarah couldn't process anything; she just felt extremely confused, as if something was about to burst out.
How could this be?
There had been no closure all this time.
Why was he suddenly found? She had been imagining that Antonio was still living somewhere in this world, waiting for her, and that they would meet again someday.
But the phone call today ruthlessly shattered all her fantasies.
What did that mean by body tissues? It's just body parts!
Sarah stared blankly at the ceiling, tears unknowingly streaming down her face, not even realizing when the call had ended.
It felt like there was a hole in her heart that could never be filled.
But even if she was devastated, this was a journey she had to make.
After some time, Sarah composed herself and got up.
At the police station, Sarah seemed dazed, not knowing what she was thinking or what she was supposed to do. She followed the police officer in a state of confusion, her face pale.
She entered a room where a white cloth covered a table.
The forensic doctor beside her frowned slightly, opening his mouth to discourage her, saying, "Ms. Miller, it's all body parts, nothing much to see now. It's better not to look."
He sighed, handed her a document, and said, "This is the DNA test report. You can take a look."
Sarah was trembling all over, and she took it with difficulty.
Before she could even read it, tears welled up in her eyes.
The transparent drops fell on the white paper, quickly forming a circle, making the contents clearer. The DNA comparison was clear and definite; it was real.
It was really him, Antonio.
Sarah collapsed, feeling like all the blood in her body had stopped flowing. The pain seeped into her bones, the suffocation spreading to her chest.
Her mind went blank, and the report slipped from her hand to the ground.
Sarah tried to speak, "I..."
She barely uttered a word when a sharp pain struck her abdomen, and she couldn't hold on any longer, collapsing.
Mr. Bryan quickly caught her, shouting, "Quick! Call 911!"
Sarah felt like she had a long dream, with everyone in it, but the man who loved her deeply didn't even say goodbye; she watched him disappear from this world.
She searched repeatedly and broke down in tears repeatedly, but she could no longer find a trace of Antonio as if he had never existed in this world.
Outside the ward, Bob brought several children in. Looking at the brightly lit consultation room ahead, they anxiously asked, "Bob, what's going on with Mommy? "
She was fine this morning!
How did she end up like this just by going out?
The police officer next to them simply repeated the facts, sighing, and informed them, "Ms. Miller couldn't accept the truth of her husband's passing. After a moment, she fainted, due to stress it affected the fetus."
The three children were stunned.
Dad, he's really found!
Ethan clenched the bag on his body, not wanting to believe it.
If his Dad, Antonio, was found, then who was Benjamin, who slept in the villa with him?
He had done a DNA test and planned to share the good news with Mommy when he got home. How could this happen?
Then what about this DNA test report?
Bob had just sent away the police and returned to see Ethan anxiously rummaging through his bag, asking in confusion, "Ethan, what are you looking for!"
"Nothing!" Ethan replied.
Ethan was almost crying, taking out the report.
Then, the three children found a secluded spot and secretly opened the report.
The contents made them even more uncomfortable, and it turned out Ethan had grabbed the wrong toothbrush!
The report showed that the sample was female!
If it were a normal day, Ethan would definitely have gone to steal it again with high spirits.
But now, everything was meaningless.
Benjamin was not the father at all!
They have been holding onto hope that their father would someday return, but today, he was found, confirming that he was no longer with them. He would never come back!
All the hope they held onto for so long had been shattered.
The three children couldn't help but burst into tears.
Bob looked at their distressed faces, feeling sorry for them.
He walked over, hugged them, sat them down on the nearby sofa, and reminded them, "I know you're sad; it's okay to cry, but we promised that when Mommy wakes up later, we won't cry anymore, we won't let Mommy worry, okay."
The three babies wiped their faces obediently, nodding gently. They knew that Mommy must be more upset than them.
Not long after, Sarah was transferred to a regular ward, and the children stayed by Sarah's side, never leaving.
Sarah wanted to force a smile in front of the children, but her heart was so heavy that she couldn't smile at all.
Seeing her like this broke the children's hearts, so they left the ward on their own, knowing that Mommy's emotions were not very good right now and that staying would only make Mommy worry.
But they couldn't bear to go home without her, so they opened another VIP ward nearby, ready to stay in the hospital to watch over Mommy, and when Mommy got better, they would go home together.
Bob went to fetch hot water and returned to the ward to take care of Sarah attentively.
Sarah was awake, but she just stared at the ceiling like a zombie, her pale face blended in with the hospital room, devoid of any vitality.
He called out to her, "Ms. Miller."
Bob felt both heartache and worry, wanting to pat her head but hesitated.
In the end, he lowered his hand and said softly, "Mr. Valencia wouldn't want to see you like this. The departed have passed, and the living should look forward. Don't forget, you still have a child in your womb, right?"
