Chapter 911 Where is Sarah?
She looked at the children's gloomy faces, feeling even heavier in her heart. She resolutely said, "James, take them back to pack their things. I've already checked, you can take the early flight tomorrow."
James frowned deeply but had no choice but to comply.
The four children could see Sarah's determination to send them away. Knowing that no amount of persuasion would work this time, they obediently agreed.
"Mommy, you must come back quickly, okay?"
"We will miss you very, very much!"
"Mommy, take care of Daddy, and you must also take good care of yourself."
After a reluctant farewell, Sarah pushed Sofia and Alex into the car as well. "I don't need you to stay with me. It's better if you go back and help me pack their things."
After they all left, she covered her face with her hands and squatted on the ground, crying silently.
Ten minutes later, Sarah returned to the ward with a calm expression. Seeing the waiting doctors and nurses, she held her breath for two seconds, "Is... is it time for the surgery?"
The doctor glanced at her red eyes and sighed inwardly. "Yes, we have finalized the surgery plan. Mrs. Valencia, you need to undergo a comprehensive examination. If all indicators are satisfactory, we can schedule the surgery within the next two days."
"That's great!" Sarah gave a genuine smile, "Doctor, don't worry. I've been actively recovering during this time. I will definitely pass."
"Yes, maintaining a good mindset is also important as it affects hormone levels."
"I understand, thank you, doctor!" Whenever Sarah realized her state was off, she would immediately adjust herself.
Antonio had woken up, and the children were all taken care of. The most important thing now was Antonio's surgery.
Antonio had always taken care of her and the children. This time, it was her turn to protect him.
She would not let anything happen to him!
Two days later, the attending doctor and nurses were fully prepared and finally began the transplant surgery, which lasted for over ten hours.
The surgery was successful, and all the medical staff breathed a sigh of relief.
Antonio and Sarah were placed in two separate wards, only a wall apart, but their hearts seemed to be connected.
A few days later, Antonio woke up. His indicators had returned to normal, and he could be transferred to the intensive care unit.
A nurse followed Byron Reyes out after completing the examination and couldn't help but say, "Dr. Reyes, Mrs. Valencia is not recovering well. Shouldn't we tell Mr. Valencia?"
Byron paused and sighed heavily. "Since this is her choice, we should respect it."
This couple had been through so much. Antonio's body hadn't fully recovered yet, and telling him would only add to the trouble. It was better to let things take their course.
That night, Antonio woke up from a nightmare.
He couldn't remember the specifics of the dream, only that it was bad. The deep-seated anxiety left him at a loss, and a layer of cold sweat formed on his forehead.
After calming down for a while, he scanned the ward, feeling increasingly uneasy.
The surgery had been over for two days, and he had been transferred to the intensive care unit. Why hadn't he seen Sarah since he woke up? Where had she gone?
Antonio barely made it to dawn. When the doctors and nurses came to check his wound as usual, he immediately asked, "Dr. Reyes, why haven't I seen my wife, Sarah?"
He didn't know where his phone was, and he couldn't get out of bed, so he had to wait for someone to visit him. This passive feeling was really uncomfortable.
After that nightmare, he hadn't been able to fall back asleep.
Byron paused at his words and instinctively glanced at the nurse beside him.
The nurse quickly said, "Mr. Valencia, have you forgotten that Mrs. Valencia's body hasn't recovered yet?"
"She... she is still very weak after the last hemorrhage. She is receiving treatment in the maternity ward. Postpartum care requires a full course to be effective, which will take some time. But she asked me to tell you that she will come to see you as soon as she finishes her treatment. You just need to rest and wait for her."
"Ah, is that so?" Antonio suddenly understood. When he was in the ICU, Sarah came to see him. Now that his surgery was over, there was no reason for Sarah not to be by his side. He had been sleeping on and off these past few days, so she must have come while he was asleep.
Sarah wouldn't want to wake him up.
"In that case, don't disturb her. Let her recover in peace." Antonio said.
Sarah's surgery wasn't exactly a secret; it had spread throughout the hospital staff, who saw it as a touching love story.
After all, the things of this couple were really touching.
Besides the spectacle, the medical staff felt sympathy for the couple.
So everyone was willing to help Sarah keep it from Antonio.
The young nurse couldn't help but say, "Mr. Valencia, you and Mrs. Valencia have such a good relationship, always thinking of each other. It's really enviable."
Antonio smiled. He felt pretty good and chatted with Byron for a bit. Suddenly, he remembered something else. "By the way, Dr. Reyes, how did you find my kidney donor? Was it through the hospital, or did Sarah help?"
Privately, Antonio hoped it was through the hospital. After all, this kind of thing was exhausting, and who knew how long Sarah had been running around, which made her health was poor.
The air fell silent for a moment.
But Byron quickly responded, adjusting his glasses, "Both, but ultimately it was through the hospital. We happened to find a good match from a kind donor. It might be fate."
As he finished speaking, Antonio frowned and asked, "Can we contact the donor?"
After all, someone had donated a kidney to him. He needed to express his gratitude.
The nurse quickly shook her head, "Sorry, Mr. Valencia. According to regulations, we can't disclose the donor's information. We hope you understand."
Antonio thought so too, "Then I hope the hospital can convey my thanks. If the donor has any needs, please let me know. I will do my best to meet them within reason."
The nurse nodded awkwardly, "Okay, we hope for the opportunity."
What could Sarah, the "donor," ask for? She just wanted Antonio to live well!
Soon, Byron put away his stethoscope. "Mr. Valencia, you still need to rest in bed for now. The incision needs time to heal. If you need anything, just press the call button."
"How long until I can get out of bed?" He wanted to see Sarah.
"Conservatively, at least a week."
In a week, Sarah should be able to walk normally too.
Antonio nodded, full of trust. His sincere gaze made Byron feel a bit guilty.
If calculated normally, Sarah hadn't recovered postpartum yet. Plus, donating a kidney had pushed her body to its limit.
