Chapter 706 Why Is He Here?
Sarah shrugged, "Why wouldn't I agree?"
The company had been managed by Brian these days, leaving her quite free.
Antonio looked at her serious expression and felt relieved. He hesitated before speaking, "Sarah, um, I'm worried that if some people find out about our trip, they might do something. So, could you..."
Sarah roughly guessed his meaning but still asked, "What?"
"Could you tell people that you're focusing on your health?" As Antonio spoke, he observed her expression. Seeing that she wasn't angry, he continued, "I mean, let's keep our travel plans a secret, okay?"
'Keeping their plans secret—does that mean he has other things to do?' she thought.
Sarah couldn't figure it out, feeling both irritated and stifled. She even wanted to ask him directly what he meant.
But the thought was dismissed as soon as it appeared.
Despite his current identity as Benjamin, she knew that although Antonio spoiled her, once he made up his mind, he wouldn't easily change it.
Even if she asked, she wouldn't get any answers.
She looked at him defiantly and said, "Aren't we in a relationship?"
Since he didn't want to tell her anything, and he had the nerve to say that, why shouldn't she cooperate?
"Since we're in a relationship, sneaking off for a trip is expected, and we should keep it from everyone." She said, laughing in frustration.
She added, "Honestly, it's kind of thrilling. Maybe we'll take our relationship to the next level? What do you think?"
Antonio was happy for a second because she agreed, but the next moment, he heard her last sentence.
Looking up at her smiling face, Antonio felt a bit lost.
'Is this really something to be happy about?' he thought.
His heart skipped a beat, and he started to overthink, even believing his previous suspicions might be correct.
Sarah was really planning to accept "Benjamin"!
The more he thought about it, the more it seemed plausible.
But if Sarah accepted "Benjamin," what about him? He was Antonio, after all!
Would he have to live forever under the name of Benjamin Harrington?
Thinking about this, Antonio felt a pang of bitterness in his chest. Sarah was supposed to love him, but now "Benjamin" was getting all the credit.
Another issue was, if Sarah really planned to accept Benjamin, would she be furious when she found out his true identity later?
For some reason, Antonio felt inexplicably scared.
Her anger was inevitable, so he had to start thinking about how to appease her when the time came.
He felt totally helpless, but things had gone too far to turn back now. He could only hope everything would go smoothly.
He told himself that once everything was over, he would make it up to Sarah!
Sarah observed his reaction, took a deep breath, and said, "It's a bit cold. Let's go inside."
She knew Antonio must have his reasons for this trip abroad.
But since he didn't plan to come clean, she wouldn't press him.
At least he was still alive and by her side.
A few months ago, that was a luxury, wasn't it?
Once inside, Sarah immediately contacted James to get in touch with the media.
An hour later, the local news reported that the president of the Valencia Group, Sarah Miller, was hospitalized for prenatal care.
The news even included a video of her being wheeled into the emergency room yesterday.
In the footage, Sarah looked pale, and even the nurse pushing the bed looked genuinely concerned.
The voiceover stated, "Reporters contacted the Valencia Group's representative, who confirmed that Ms. Miller was indeed unwell and needed some time to recuperate. They declined to provide further details."
Antonio and Sarah watched the news in the living room, and he casually remarked, "James is quite capable."
After all, he was trained by Antonio himself!
Sarah turned to give him a fake smile and said, "Mr. Harrington, you seem to know quite a lot."
Antonio, unaware that he was already exposed, maintained his composure and said, "After all, he's your right-hand man. Even if I haven't interacted with him, I've heard plenty about him."
Seeing that Antonio was still pretending, Sarah rolled her eyes. Just as she turned to pick up her phone, Sofia called. As soon as she answered, Sofia's anxious voice came through. "Sarah, how are you? Why didn't you tell me you were hospitalized? I could have come to take care of you!"
Her voice was full of concern, warming Sarah's heart.
"I'm not hospitalized." Sarah glanced at Antonio and continued, "Sofia, don't worry. I deliberately released that news. I'm perfectly healthy now."
Sofia was stunned and asked, "What do you mean?"
Sarah explained, "I'm going abroad for a while, but I can't let the public know, so..."
"So you released that news?" Sofia continued, "You scared me! I thought something really happened to you. As long as you're okay. When are you coming back?"
"I don't know yet." Talking about this made Sarah a bit angry again, and her tone changed. "I'm not going alone this time. Who knows what's going on in his head."
Antonio, sitting nearby, suddenly felt a chill down his neck.
'Is Sarah angry again?' he thought.
Sofia didn't notice the change in her tone and asked, "Are you taking the kids?"
"No."
Knowing that Sarah wouldnt take the kids with her, Sopia offered, "In that case, I'll come to your house to take care of the kids. No arguments!"
Feeling Sophia's insistance, Sarah didn't refuse, but she was deeply touched.
Over the years, she was grateful to have Sofia by her side.
Her eyes welled up as she said, "I'm worried it might affect your work."
Sofia laughed, "You're overthinking it. I don't have much going on lately. Even if I did, I wouldn't leave you hanging!"
She added, "Remember back in college, if you hadn't brought me meals every day, I might have starved. And when people from the neighboring school gave me trouble, you stood by me without hesitation. Do we really need to be so formal?"
After that, both of them recalled those days and laughed together before chatting about other things and hanging up.
Sarah held her phone, feeling warm inside for a long time.
She looked up and asked, "When did you book the tickets for?"
Antonio brushed her hair aside and replied, "Tomorrow."
Sarah ignored his gesture and informed Sofia of the departure time. She didn't expect Sofia to come over quickly, bringing Alex along.
"You guys could have come tomorrow."
Alex, holding toys, said calmly, "Sofia was worried no one would make breakfast for Mr. Jerrett and the kids tomorrow morning."
Sofia glanced at him and linked arms with Sarah, saying, "You don't know how long you'll be gone. I wanted to see you before you leave."
Sarah looked at the two of them and couldn't help but tease, "You two aren't fighting anymore, right?"
Alex looked a bit embarrassed, while Sofia confidently whispered in Sarah's ear, "I made him listen to me in bed!"
Joking around like this, it seemed they had indeed made up.
Sarah was happy for them and momentarily forgot about Antonio's presence.
So when the three of them walked in and saw Antonio, Sofia was shocked and asked, "Benjamin? Why is he here?"
