Chapter 497 Mommy, Please
Sarah stood still, staring at Antonio in shock. After seeing him clutching his stomach tightly, she understood that his gastric pain had flared up again. Sarah turned her head away coldly. ‘Serves him right! Why didn't the pain just kill him?!’ She thought.
Antonio sat on the ground for a long while, his forehead covered in beads of sweat. His already pale face was now completely devoid of color. Thankfully, he had taken painkillers earlier, so he could still bear it for the time being.
He spoke in a weak voice, "Sarah, could you eat something first? You were right, I am a beast, and you don't deserve to starve yourself for a beast..."
Sarah held back her tears, continuing to stand with her back to Antonio, "I am going abroad to take care of my brother."
"There are many people I've arranged abroad, including caregivers and professional doctors..."
"I don't trust anyone you've arranged." Sarah still didn't turn around.
Antonio looked at her back in despair, so resolute. He frowned, "Sarah, I will never let you leave, don't even think about it."
"Antonio, you are unreasonable!" Sarah came back to her senses, her eyes full of anger. When she saw the blood stains on Antonio's shirt, her anger then mixed with complex emotions, leaving her exhausted.
"Antonio, no matter how high-level the caregivers are, I am not reassured. I want to take care of my brother personally!"
Antonio lowered his gaze. He was in extreme pain, but he had to pretend to be indifferent, as if he didn't care about anything.
"Are you not reassured about those caregivers, or are you not reassured about me?" Antonio chuckled lightly, "In that case, let Brian go abroad."
Sarah was taken aback, "What did you say?"
"Let Brian go abroad. The doctors abroad were originally arranged by him, and he is familiar with all the situations. With his abilities, there won't be any danger. This way, you should be reassured."
Antonio paused, "With Brian watching, I can't do anything sneaky, can I?"
Sarah pursed her lips. Indeed, Brian wouldn't be subjected to Antonio's imprisonment and threats. With him there, Brady would also be guaranteed a certain level of safety. After thinking about it, this was the best solution at the moment.
Regardless of whether Antonio was trying to threaten her with the lives of her brother and child, there was hope for a solution with Brian there. Sarah sat down on the sofa, exhausted, pressing her hand against her aching forehead.
"Alright, we'll do as you say..." She was already desperate. As long as Brady's safety could be ensured, she could compromise.
Antonio breathed a sigh of relief. He also sat down, with only a fist's distance between him and Sarah. But this close distance felt like an insurmountable chasm, not allowing Antonio to overstep.
Antonio asked, "Do you know what to do when Brian comes over later?"
Sarah let out a cold laugh, "Antonio, are you warning me now? Are you telling me that if I don't go along with your wishes, all this will be in vain, and you'll let my brother fend for himself?"
Antonio didn't mean that. He just wanted them to act affectionately in front of Brian. At least that way, the children would feel that their home was still intact. That their parents were just having an argument, trying to resolve emotional issues, and hadn't reached the point of breaking up.
Antonio knew too well how important a complete home was. He didn't want his children to live a life without parents, like he did.
"We can't let the children discover the rift between us, nor can we let them know why we ended up like this." Antonio put on a stern face, "That's all I want."
"I really want to expose your true colors to the world and let everyone see how the great Mr. Valencia treats his wife and children!"
Antonio was taken aback, murmuring, "Wife... you know you're my wife..."
Sarah was furious, "Get out! Get out!"
Antonio collected himself, "Do as I say, or I won't let anyone go take care of Brady." After saying that, he mustered the courage to grab Sarah's hand.
Sarah furrowed her brows. She didn't want to have any sort of physical confrontation with Antonio right now. She knew she would only end up defeated. But her anger needed an outlet. In the end, she leaned over and bit Antonio's shoulder hard.
She used all her strength, wishing she could bite off a chunk of flesh! Soon, fresh blood soaked Antonio's clothes, filling her mouth with a metallic taste.
Antonio endured the pain in his shoulder and stomach, sweat dripping from his forehead. But his hand never let go.
It wasn't until Sarah's teeth hurt from biting that she slowly let go.
Antonio supported her feeble back, holding her firmly in his arms. "Eat something, and I'll call Brian over, okay?"
Sarah shook her head, "I have no appetite. Just have him come over now."
Antonio didn't insist. He had someone tidy up the room and then sent for Brian.
Brian only found out when he arrived that Sarah had been staying in the racetrack's lounge all along.
"Mommy!" As soon as Brian pushed open the door, he ran anxiously towards Sarah, "Are you okay?"
Sarah hugged Brian, suppressing her sorrow and forcing a smile, "Silly boy, I've been with your father all along; how could anything happen to me?"
Brian was skeptical, after all, his mother had been so adamant before, not even willing to tell his father about going abroad.
"Mommy, are you really okay?" Brian asked again.
At this moment, Antonio walked in with a lunchbox, "Brian, your mother is not okay; she's not eating."
Upon hearing this, Brian immediately became anxious, "How can you not eat? Mommy, didn't you say that no matter what, we can't skip meals?"
Sarah gave him a faint smile, then shot a resentful glance at Antonio. "Mommy was just waiting for you to eat together." She tenderly said to Brian.
"Right, sit down and eat something first; we can talk while eating."
Sarah had no choice but to sit down and eat the tasteless meal.
"Sarah, try this. It's quite good." Antonio served Sarah a dish.
Sarah didn't move her fork and just silently sipped the soup in her bowl.
Antonio didn't insist. After all, it was impossible to put on a show of affection in front of Brian at this point.
Brian was not clear about what had happened, but he was somewhat happy in his heart. If his parents could really reconcile, then everything would be fine.
The three of them finished the meal each with their own thoughts. Sarah then said to Brian, "Brian, Mommy has a favor to ask of you."
