Chapter 717 Isn't He Afraid I'll Run Away With Anthony?

Antonio took Sarah to the OB-GYN department. The VIP package came with a personal doc, and they quickly set up a check-up plan.

He told Sarah, "I'm gonna do my check-up now. If you need anything, just holler, alright?"

Sarah, with no other option, mumbled a half-hearted "okay."

Antonio gave her a soft kiss on the forehead and walked away.

He didn't want Sarah to know about the chip just yet.

He'd wait until he figured out a solution.

Sarah, feeling a bit out of it, was surrounded by a bunch of doctors for a series of tests. She couldn't help but worry.

'If Antonio's going through all this trouble to come abroad just to check an old injury, does it mean there's something seriously wrong with his health?'

'Is that why he doesn't want to, or can't, tell me?' she wondered.

Thinking about this, Sarah paused.

"Ma'am?" A doctor next to her was urging her to get on the machine.

Sarah sighed, "I'm sorry, but I don't want to continue with the rest of the check-up. Let's stop here."

The doctors exchanged glances and said, "But..."

Sarah insisted, "Don't worry, it's my call. If anything happens, I'll take the blame."

She needed to see Antonio and figure out what was going on.

Seeing her determination, the doctors didn't push further and pointed her in the right direction.

Sarah thanked them and, holding her belly, went to find Antonio.

She almost got lost and was about to call when she saw a familiar figure ahead. The person also saw her and looked surprised, saying, "Ms. Miller?"

"Mr. Thomas," Sarah greeted.

It was Anthony, the guy who had sat next to her on the plane.

'Oh right, he mentioned he's a doctor. So, he works at this hospital?' she thought.

Sarah couldn't help but think how small the world was. What a coincidence.

Anthony walked over, his smile gentle, saying, "What a coincidence. What brings you here? Are you feeling unwell?"

She shook her head and instinctively said, "I'm here with my husband."

"Really?" A flicker of surprise crossed Anthony's eyes.

"I'm truly sorry," Anthony said.

Sarah was puzzled and asked, "Mr. Thomas, why are you apologizing to me?"

Anthony replied, "I didn't know you had a husband when we were on the plane. I must apologize for any offense."

Sarah shook her head and said, "Mr. Thomas, you're too polite."

It was just a casual conversation, nothing offensive.

She looked up and caught a glimpse of a hurried figure not far away. Her eyes flashed as she said, "Well, technically, he's my ex-husband. I'm still considering, you know."

Antonio was rushing over to find Sarah, having asked the doctor to speed up his check-up. He didn't expect to see her chatting happily with another guy, which made him jealous. He quickened his pace.

As he got closer, he realized it was the same Anthony who had chatted with Sarah on the plane!

Anthony hadn't noticed him yet and raised an eyebrow in surprise.

"Well, in that case, may I have the honor of having dinner with Ms. Miller?" He offered, his voice pleasant. "Consider it my apology to you."

Sarah saw Antonio getting closer, his face dark as if he had caught her in the act.

Seeing Antonio's sour face, Sarah suddenly thought of Margaret from the day before.

Even if it was all a sham, Antonio had to play along with her!

If he could do it, why couldn't she?

Sarah suddenly felt like using this to mess with Antonio, to see how much he could handle. Would he stay cool seeing her with Anthony just to keep his secrets?

With this in mind, she shot a provocative glance at Antonio, who was striding over, and smiled as she agreed, "Sure, I'd love to have dinner with Mr. Thomas."

Antonio didn't expect her to agree and stopped dead in his tracks.

'Is Sarah really into getting to know Anthony? But didn't we just hook up yesterday?' he thought.

Sarah noticed his reaction and was surprised at how well Antonio could hold back his anger. She said, "Let's swap contact info so we can find each other tonight."

Anthony smiled, "Ms. Miller, you're quite the character."

He gave her his phone number.

Sarah even carefully saved it with a note, and they parted with smiles.

After a bit, she pretended to notice Antonio behind her and feigned surprise, saying, "Oh! When did you get here? I was just about to look for you."

Antonio pulled his gaze away from Anthony and said helplessly, "I just got here."

"Sarah," he hesitated before speaking, "are you really gonna have dinner with him?"

Antonio suspected this Anthony guy might have some hidden agenda. What if he was sent by someone shady? It would be hard to guard against.

Of course, he was also jealous.

Sarah was noncommittal as she said, "Just making a friend. Anthony is so sincere. I can't just blow him off!"

She was really speechless at his reaction. He had seen it all happen and didn't stop it. Now that it was over, what was the point of being jealous?

She wondered how important it was to hide those things for him.

This was his own doing!

Antonio didn't know what she was thinking, but his jealousy was almost palpable as he said, "If you go to dinner with him, what about me?"

Sarah raised an eyebrow and suggested, "Why don't you get a table next to us?"

Antonio was left speechless for a moment.

Did she want him to watch her have dinner with Anthony?

Sarah didn't want to continue this argument and instead looked him over, asking, "Did you finish your check-up? Any problems?"

She had a bunch of reports and scans after her check-up. Why did he seem empty-handed, like he hadn't done anything?

Antonio shook his head. "No major issues for now."

In reality, the doctor had talked to him after the check-up.

The suggestions were similar to what Arnold had said before: it was best to find the control key for the chip and cut off the source before surgery.

It wasn't impossible to operate now, but the success rate was only forty percent.

Given that the chip was connected to his cardiovascular system, and such a low success rate was too risky, he hadn't made a decision yet.

Sarah looked at Antonio's pensive expression and knew he hadn't finished speaking. She was anxious and even more frustrated—at him and at herself.

'Isn't he afraid I'll really run off with Anthony?' she thought.
