Chapter 425 Don't Hide Anything from Me!

The presence or absence of a gift was of no consequence to Antonio Valencia. His mind was preoccupied with the task of resolving the misunderstanding that had arisen between him and Brady. Brady, after all, was his brother-in-law and had always shown kindness towards Sarah. Sarah, in turn, valued Brady's opinions highly. Antonio, intending to spend his life with Sarah, understood the importance of gaining Brady's approval.

Brian was the first to discern the distress clouding Antonio's features, and a pang of sympathy stirred within him. Sarah had always instilled in her children the importance of fairness. Whether it was a single apple or a bounty of gifts, everything was to be divided equally. In the eyes of the children, the absence of a gift for even one person was a pitiful sight.

Casting a glance at the gift in his hand, Brian placed the polar bear keychain next to Antonio. He was torn by his decision, but ultimately, he couldn't bear to see anyone in such a pitiful state. His action had nothing to do with consoling Antonio or any other underlying motives.

Antonio, deeply moved by Brian's gesture, looked at him with a glow of gratitude. His son, after all, had shown him care and consideration.

"Thank you, Brian!" Antonio pocketed the keychain, his face beaming with a smile that threatened to split his face. The support of his son brought him more joy than any other circumstance. "Sarah, Brady, I'll leave you two to chat. I'll go prepare something for us to eat."

With his son's support, Antonio felt a renewed sense of confidence. The old saying held that to win a man's heart, one must first win his stomach. If he intended to win over his brother-in-law, the kitchen seemed a good place to start. The saying, he mused, held a kernel of truth.

As Antonio made to head towards the kitchen, Brady intercepted him. "No need, I'll do it," he said, striding towards the kitchen. "Sarah, come help me."

Sarah rose to her feet and glanced at Antonio, who appeared somewhat bewildered. She gently caressed his face, reassuring him, "Just sit down and wait for the meal like a good boy. Play with the kids in the living room." Sarah had a hunch that her brother had something to discuss with her.

Resigned, Antonio stayed put in the living room. "Go ahead, let me know if you need anything," he offered. Sarah nodded and followed Brady into the kitchen.

"It's been a while, and now you're a chef?" Sarah quipped as she rolled up her sleeves. Their mother had passed away early, and the Millers had treated Sarah and Brady poorly. They had relied on each other, often struggling to secure a proper meal. Brady had taken the brunt of the Millers' cruelty, protecting Sarah as they grew up. But there was one thing Brady had never managed to master - cooking.

"Not really, just trying my luck," Brady replied, donning an apron and washing vegetables. "But I'm quite confident in my cooking skills. I think I've improved. You should taste it later."

"As long as you don't poison me," Sarah teased, winking playfully.

"How could I harm my own sister?" Brady retorted, raising an eyebrow in a display of confidence. "I've always been the one to lead the way for you. Don't worry, even if it's poison, I wouldn't let you eat it." Brady reached out and flicked Sarah's nose. "You're my only family now. I won't allow any harm to come to you."

Sarah's hands stilled, a bitter taste creeping into her heart. Brady wasn't her real brother. She had known this for a long time, and she was certain he knew it too. Yet, he had always been so good to her, never uttering a word of complaint.

"What are you thinking? Be careful not to cut yourself." Brady noticed Sarah's distracted expression and quickly took the knife from her. Sarah looked at him, tears welling in her eyes, and bit her lip.

"Brother, I already know. You don't have to hide it from me anymore."
