Chapter 612 The Protagonist Had Another Person

Benjamin was puzzled, "Gone! What happened?"

"I don't know, but Ms. Miller didn't look good. She left in a hurry as if she was avoiding someone. She didn't even have breakfast before leaving," Mr. Joshua replied.

Upon hearing this, Benjamin's expression froze, exuding an unfathomable coldness.

Sarah was in such a hurry to avoid him!

Benjamin felt very uncomfortable.

How much did Sarah dislike him to be so eager to avoid him?

Benjamin sighed deeply, raised his hand to his forehead, and turned to walk towards the suite.

Isabella had just woken up. She looked around, unable to hide the disappointment on her face.

She had done so much last night but still failed. She was rejected so thoroughly by him that she couldn't face him anymore!

Isabella was devastated and felt a sense of shame. She got up, pale-faced and devoid of color.

Just as Isabella finished tidying up, the sound of the door opening from outside. Benjamin's tall figure walked in with the same expression as always, then sternly said, "Isabella, let's talk."

She turned around.

Benjamin, meticulously dressed, exuded a cold and noble air, a stark contrast to her current poor state.

So, what happened last night had no impact on him at all.

Isabella, feeling genuine, tearfully said, "What are we going to talk about? Do you want to say that I shouldn't have drugged you yesterday? I already know I was wrong, and you don't have to say it again. I regret it now."

She had intended to handle this matter coldly.

But perhaps due to the accumulation of anxiety and grievances in her heart during this time, she couldn't control herself after saying this.

She continued to pour out her heart, "But Benjamin, have you ever thought about why I did that? We are a couple, future husband and wife, but I don't know why, after we arrived in the capital city, even getting close to you a little became a luxury. You lost your memory, got injured, and didn't care about me. I can understand, but shouldn't you also consider my feelings!"

Her words were half true and half false, mixed with the intention to make Benjamin feel guilty, but she was genuinely hurting from the bottom of her heart.

Because she truly loved Benjamin.

Isabella spoke with sincerity, and before she knew it, tears streamed down her face, evoking sympathy from those who saw her pitiful state.

Benjamin frowned, feeling complex emotions. He admitted that he had been very neglectful towards Isabella.

If he had truly been deeply in love with Isabella before, then he had hurt her deeply.

Benjamin chimed in, "But you shouldn't have resorted to drugging me."

"Yes! I shouldn't have!" Tears rolled down Isabella's face, her wet eyes full of grievances as she reasoned with him, "But by ignoring me like this, you have greatly hurt me. If you had shown me some affection, how could I have done such a thing? I am also a woman; do you know how painful it is for me like this? We used to be so good together. In the past, you were not like this at all!"

Isabella knew she was lying, but she seemed lost in her own imagination. "In the past, you explained everything to me, responded to every word, and wanted to be with me all the time. You didn't even pay attention to other women besides me! What about now? You used to send me flowers every day, give me morning kisses, how about now?"

Every word she said was heartfelt, and even she was moved by her own words as if all of this had truly happened.

But in Benjamin's memory, it was all a blur, impossible to recall. He looked at Isabella, who was tearful and emotional and couldn't bring himself to say a word of reproach.

However, he also couldn't find the words to comfort her; all he could do was remain silent.

Of course, Isabella didn't expect him to agree, as he had already lost all memories of 'their past love.'

She stared at Benjamin's furrowed brow, her gaze flickering slightly. She called out to him, " Benjamin."

This utterance of his name contained infinite sorrow.

Isabella asked, "Honestly, tell me, have you fallen in love with Sarah?"

"Of course not," Benjamin thought of Sarah's avoidance of him and instinctively denied it, his face showing a mix of emotions.

Isabella stared at him in disbelief, looking even more aggrieved as she questioned, "If you haven't fallen for someone else, why can't you be with me properly? Am I really that bad?"

Bad?

Isabella's qualities couldn't be considered bad. She was a lady delicately taken care of by Harold, proficient in etiquette, and could provide significant help in business. If it weren't for the engagement with Benjamin, there would probably be many suitors pursuing her.

"You are very good," Benjamin said truthfully.

But he just didn't like her.

Suddenly feeling a headache, he said, "Don't overthink it. Freshen up, and let's have dinner."

Isabella was in an unstable state at the moment, so it was not the right time to mention breaking off the engagement. She needed to calm down, and he needed to figure things out.

About Sarah.

He needed to understand if his impulse towards Sarah truly stemmed from love! If so, what was the reason?

They had only spent a short time together, and it was impulsive of him to fall in love with Sarah!

Seeing him with a troubled expression, Isabella decided to let it go for now.

Isabella remarked, "Okay, Benjamin, don't worry about it. I was just emotional earlier. Let's take it slow." She took a few steps forward and gently pressed his temples, sobbing softly, full of grievances.

"It's okay." Benjamin still wasn't quite used to her touch, but he didn't make it obvious to her, and suggested, "Go freshen up."

Isabella nodded, biting her lip, "Okay."

She turned and headed to the bathroom.

Benjamin watched her retreating figure, his questions growing deeper in his mind. He felt like he had truly once had a deeply loving time with a woman, just as Isabella had said, and he never wanted to leave her for a moment.

But the story's protagonist had someone else.

Afterward, Benjamin focused all his energy on the project inspection, which was work. At least for an afternoon, he didn't think about Sarah.

The group was comparing data when the phone in his pocket suddenly rang. Benjamin excused himself, saying, "Sorry, I need to take this call."

Benjamin nodded at Aiden, then walked aside to answer the phone.

The flashing number on the screen was one he knew by heart, but he couldn't
understand why Harold would call at this moment!
