Chapter 649 To Meet the Villain

If that were true, then many things could be explained.

But how likely was that possibility?

He raised his hand to pinch between the eyes, the headache overshadowing the pain in his shoulder.

If Harold and Isabella had indeed orchestrated such a grand conspiracy, then the most outrageous explanation is often the real truth.

Scenes from his dreams kept flashing in his mind. He increasingly felt that he and the person in his dreams were actually the same, but not entirely.

He had lost all memories of Sarah.

But now, everything was mere speculation, and he couldn't directly tell her.

Benjamin began to miss Sarah desperately, wanting to see her, even wanting to ask her about Antonio. It was a strange feeling; he no longer minded her talking about Antonio in front of him.

Even if it was about the love between Sarah and Antonio.

He hesitated for a long time but couldn't resist taking out his phone and sending her a photo of himself.

Sarah had completed her bedtime routine and was on her phone in bed when she suddenly received a message. To her surprise, it was from Benjamin.

'What does he want do so late at night?' she thought.

Though she had questions in her mind, Sarah's hand uncontrollably clicked on the chat box. Seeing the photo, she felt even more surprised.

The photo showed Benjamin's entire face. He was lying somewhat sickly on a hospital bed, and the hospital gown quite striking.

The deliberate angle of the camera to include the hospital gown was obviously intentional.

Sarah bit her lip, unsure whether to respond.

But then she thought that the CEO of her partner company was hospitalized. If she pretended not to know, it would be reasonable, but since he had already initiated the conversation, it seemed impolite not to reply.

She reluctantly tapped the text input area and slowly typed a question mark.

Benjamin had hoped for a few words of concern, but after waiting for a long time, all he got was a question mark. This was a bit too perfunctory.

He wasn't exactly angry, but he was definitely a little disappointed.

Benjamin paused and replied: [Sorry, sent it by mistake. Ms. Miller, why are you still up so late?]

After sending the message, he leaned back with his eyes closed, taking a deep breath to calm down.

Perhaps even he hadn't realized that now, even if Sarah's attitude towards him was so cold, he wouldn't be as indifferent and furious as before. All he thought about was how to keep the conversation going with her, and how to get her to pay more attention to him.

Sarah got up to pour herself a glass of water. Seeing his message, she casually replied: [Mr. Harrington, are you seriously injured? Or have you recovered?]

She felt a bit puzzled.

It wasn't surprising that she was still awake, but Benjamin was already injured.

He was lying in the hospital. Even if he was awake, he shouldn't be using his phone all the time.

Benjamin, feeling no drowsiness, saw her message with a hint of concern.  Whether it was genuine or not, it was still a concern.

He felt a surge of joy, unable to suppress his smile.

Benjamin replied: [A little, but the injury is still quite serious.]

After sending this message, a thought suddenly flashed through his mind.

He could use his injury to get Sarah to visit him in the hospital.

He really wanted to see her.

Benjamin decided to give it a try and immediately added another message. [Ms. Miller, since you're not sleeping, why not come and see me? I'm still on an IV, and it's a bit inconvenient being alone.]

He admitted that there was an element of playing the sympathy card, but sometimes, such things didn't need to be scrutinized too closely, like when a man was pursuing a woman..

Benjamin's eyes suddenly froze, and he smiled.

He would never have entertained such thoughts before.

Nor would he have used such petty tricks just to get Sarah to come and see him.

Now, he admitted it; he just wanted Sarah.

Sarah, looking at the text on her phone, frowned slightly.

Of course, she didn't want to go.

Sarah: [It's already very late, I don't want to go. Besides, given Mr. Harrington's current strained relationship with the Valencia family, it wouldn't be appropriate for me to visit.]

Benjamin: [Of course, it's appropriate. We are partners, after all. From a business and relationship point of view, Ms. Miller's visit to me falls into the category of business socialising. Even if others see it, they will only think that our companies are working well together.]

Sarah was speechless.

Whether the collaboration was pleasant or not, Benjamin knew well.

If it weren't for Harrington Group causing so much trouble to acquire the Valencia family, their relationship wouldn't be as strained as it was now. So, the word "well" didn't quite fit.

But Benjamin didn't give up and added: [I actually think it would be inappropriate if Ms. Miller didn't come. After all, there are many speculative media outlets out there, and they would certainly think we are at odds.]

An adversarial relationship was indeed a fact.

But there was one thing right. Regardless of the actual relationship between the two companies, their collaboration hadn't ended yet. At least on the surface, their relationship needed to look decent.

Moreover, a few days ago in H City, it was Benjamin who saved her and helped retrieve the most important ring. She did feel some gratitude.

She hadn't expected him to be so unlucky.

Just after returning from there, he got knocked out.

Maybe Benjamin's injuries from H City hadn't fully healed yet.

Sarah felt a bit guilty.

To be fair, he had helped her a few times.

She sighed and typed: [Mr. Harrington, please send me the room number.]

Benjamin quickly typed and sent the information surprisingly.

Coincidentally, Isabella had just messaged him, saying she was out meeting a dress designer and wouldn't be back for a while.

It wasn't that he feared being discovered by her, but he didn't want Sarah to feel awkward.

In the mansion, when Sarah had just changed her clothes and stepped out, the children heard the door open and turned to look at her.

Harper clapped her little hands and ran over.

"Mommy, are you going out?"

Sarah didn't know the reason, but she felt a sudden pang of guilt. She didn't plan to tell them where she was going, so she laughed awkwardly and said, "Mommy has something to do and needs to go out for a bit. You all go to sleep, and don't wait up for me."

The children, hearing her words, didn't think much of it.

"Okay, Mommy!"

But Brian scanned Sarah's face with his piercing eyes, sensing that something was off.

He noticed Sarah's eyes flickering, clearly hiding something from them.

If it were something else, Sarah wouldn't have reacted this way.

Brian suddenly thought of a possibility. Could it be that Sarah was going to meet that villain, Benjamin?
