Chapter 932 Too Complicated

It was pure luck that the store owner had installed a security camera on the rooftop to comply with inspections from the relevant authorities. The camera happened to be pointed at the nearby street, and Loving Arms Orphanage was right next door.

"Show us the video!" Sarah demanded urgently, waving her hand.

The bodyguard handed over the laptop, and Aaron immediately found the edited footage.

The couple watched the video intently, their nerves on edge, until a man in a suit appeared, picked up the thermal container from the ground, and then got into a car.

"Rewind it and play it again!"

Aaron did as instructed, pausing the video when the man picked up the container. He zoomed in, and it was clear that the man was... Asian!

Sarah clutched Antonio's hand tightly, her eyes fixed on the thermal container in the video. Her voice trembled, "Antonio, did you see that? Eden... she was taken by someone! She's okay!"

The car was expensive, and the man must have taken her to adopt her!

Antonio's emotions were also in turmoil, his breathing unsteady. "Yes, she's still okay..."

As long as nothing bad had happened to her yet, they could follow this lead and eventually find her!

"Investigate if any Asian families in Shadow City have recently adopted a baby girl. The adoption process here is strict, so there should be records."

"Yes, sir."

Aaron didn't waste any time. After dropping them off at the hotel, he continued his investigation without delay.

Sarah barely slept that night, waking up before dawn the next day.

She checked her wound behind Antonio's back. It was slightly better than the day before, but the surrounding area was still red and swollen.

Taking a deep breath, she secretly took out some anti-inflammatory pills, broke off two, and swallowed them. Just as she finished, Antonio's tall figure emerged from the room. "Sarah, you..."

Antonio had intended to ask if she was hungry, but seeing her stiff expression, he immediately sensed something was wrong.

"What are you doing?"

"Nothing..."

Sarah glanced at the pills she hadn't had time to put away, her heart racing. She smiled and raised the water glass in her hand. "I'm just drinking water."

Antonio's brows furrowed slightly, and he was about to ask more when the doorbell rang.

"It's Aaron! Go see if he has any news!" Sarah said quickly.

She hurried to follow him. Antonio gave her a sidelong glance before going to open the door. "Any news?"

Aaron pressed his lips together and shook his head.

"We got the list of Asians in Shadow City last night and investigated each family carefully, but we didn't find any that had adopted a baby."

"How... how can that be?"

Sarah felt like her whole body was collapsing. "Then where did Eden go?"

No one could answer her.

Antonio's face darkened, the oppressive weight filling the room.

After a long silence, he spoke in a low voice, "Keep investigating. If she's not in this city, maybe the person who took Eden has already left, or maybe... they're from our own country!"

This statement reignited their hope.

"You're right!" Sarah said, following his lead. "Now that we have a direction, we'll find her sooner or later... We just need to check the records of Asians who left the country with a baby during this time!"

"Yes, ma'am."

Antonio rubbed her head gently. "I want results by the end of the day."

Aaron nodded. "Yes, sir."

After he left, Sarah clasped her hands together in front of her chest. "Eden... please be safe."

She wiped the corners of her eyes. "Don't worry about me. I can handle myself."

She knew the pressure on Antonio was even greater than on herself. How could she let herself be a burden to him?

"Alright, you didn't get much rest last night. Why don't you go back to sleep for a while?"

"No need," Antonio said, leading her inside. "I'll stay with you at the hotel today. I've already ordered food. We'll eat and then rest together."

If he left her alone, she would probably overthink everything.

They had already cleared the necessary paths last night. The rest could be left to Aaron and his team.

Another day passed.

Aaron called as soon as he had news. "Mr. Valencia, we have information!"

Antonio's nerves tightened.

"Hold on!"

He had been on the balcony when he took the call. He quickly walked to the living room and put the phone on speaker. "Okay, go ahead."

Seeing this, Sarah also sat up straight, her hands clenched tightly, her eyes fixed on the phone.

"We've checked all the Asians who left Shadow City and compared them with the man in the surveillance footage. We narrowed it down to five families, three of which are from our country."

The couple held their breath, not relaxing until a while after he finished speaking.

"This... this is good news, right?" Sarah's voice was light, her eyes unblinking.

Her nails dug into her palms, almost breaking the skin.

Antonio gently pried her fingers open, holding her hand tenderly and kissing it. "Yes, this is the best news we've had in days."

He took a deep breath and picked up the phone again.

"Aaron, come back immediately. We're packing up and heading home!"

Sarah jumped up. "Yes... We'll leave tonight!"

Now that they had a direction, every second spent here felt like a waste of time. "We'll start looking from home... If we find Eden, we can bring her back to reunite with the kids. If not..."

Her slender fingers clenched and then relaxed.

After a long pause, she said, "Then we'll search other countries. We'll find her eventually!"

Antonio watched her trying to stay strong, his heart aching. He pulled her into a tight embrace, his voice hoarse. "Alright, we'll leave right away."

As they rushed back home, Bob was also restless.

He couldn't stop thinking about the nurse's call.

What was the secret about Sarah's child?

The question gnawed at him, and anything related to Sarah drove him crazy.

Unable to bear it any longer, Bob called his assistant and ordered him to thoroughly investigate the matter, including the child's current situation.

The assistant soon returned with news.

"Mr. Morrison, Ms. Miller's child... was stolen a few days after birth. Her husband kept it a secret, known only to hospital staff and their close associates."

"Now, they have indeed gone to Avaloria to find the child."

Bob wasn't surprised. This matched his suspicions.

He couldn't help but sneer. "Antonio is such a failure! He let his wife donate a kidney without knowing, and then he couldn't even protect his own child!"

She was so weak, yet Antonio let her travel long distances. He's utterly useless! Sarah shouldn't be with someone like him!

She definitely shouldn't have rejected him for such a loser!

But...

"Why did they go to Avaloria to find their daughter?"

Could it be that an enemy from Avaloria took the child?

"If our investigation is correct, the person who stole the child is closely connected to Francis Valencia. His last name is Diaz, and he's quite influential in Avaloria. He appears to have a strained relationship with Antonio and Sarah, but we couldn't determine the reason. Francis died not long ago, and the child was stolen around the same time."

Bob was silent for a while after hearing this.

This situation... was quite complicated.

Why did Guadalupe steal Sarah's child after Francis died?
