Chapter 856 They're Still Alive?
For Francis, this was a rare moment of freedom.
"Okay." Antonio had no objections, of course. He glanced at Sarah, who seemed to have a good appetite, and said, "Sarah needs to walk off her meal every day now. Let's go together."
"Okay."
After thinking for a moment, Francis said, "Let's go to the park we used to visit when we were kids."
The villa they lived in now wasn't far from their previous home, the Valencia Mansion, just a 20-30 minute walk.
The park they used to play in as children was conveniently located in the middle.
"Okay, I haven't been there in a long time," Antonio replied.
After dinner, Antonio pushed Francis's wheelchair outside, with Sarah holding onto his arm.
For the three of them, this was a rare moment of leisure. They chatted about old times as they walked, the cool breeze gently brushing their faces, creating a sense of peace and harmony.
The park wasn't very large, but it had been around for decades and was a great activity spot for the local residents.
Many kids were playing with skateboards in the square, and various vendors were watching them, occasionally shouting out their wares.
Sarah smiled as she watched, "We should bring the kids here someday. It's a place you used to play, and you can tell them stories about it."
Such lively scenes always put people in a good mood.
Antonio nodded in agreement, "Yeah, they should get out more."
"Antonio, do you remember?" Francis pointed to a spot not far away, "When you were a kid, you loved sitting by that statue alone, like a little adult, lost in thought."
Listening to him, the three of them walked in that direction.
"How could I forget?" Antonio's eyes showed a hint of nostalgia as he recalled, "I wasn't really thinking about anything. I just wanted to see further by standing higher."
Sarah was about to tease him when she suddenly heard two familiar voices not far away, a middle-aged couple trying to persuade passing children.
"Hey kid, these fish are so pretty! Ask your mom to buy you a couple!"
"Yeah, look at the yellow and white ones. Do you like them?"
"If you buy goldfish now, you get free fish food!"
The couple's enthusiastic voices were somewhat annoying. Following the sound, they saw an elderly couple dressed plainly, with dusty pants and graying hair that showed signs of hardship. Their wrinkled faces wore ingratiating smiles.
The woman happened to look up and met Sarah's gaze.
In an instant, her smile froze. "Wh-why is it you?!"
The man beside her, hearing her shocked voice, choked on his words as he tried to persuade a child. He turned his head and saw the three well-dressed people.
Sarah hadn't expected to run into these two here. She frowned and tugged at Antonio's arm. They didn't expect they would run into John and Sharon here.
"Let's go that way," Sarah said to Antonio.
"Sarah!" Sharon hurriedly stepped forward to grab her hand but withdrew it under Sarah's cold gaze. "Sarah, it's so rare to see you. Don't you want to talk to me?"
Her expression was awkward, with a hint of flattery. "After all, we raised you for so many years, didn't we?"
"Yes!" John chimed in, looking at Sarah as if he had seen money.
"It's so rare to see you. It means our family bond isn't over yet. Let's talk more!"
The couple knew very well that Sarah was wealthy now!
They usually didn't dare to approach her.
But now that they had run into her, how could they let her go?
Antonio's face darkened as he looked at the two faces in front of him.
The Miller family had fallen, Sharon's two daughters—one in prison, the other having jumped off a building. These two were visibly not doing well, but they deserved it!
"You must be mistaken." He sneered, "Sarah has a father. How could she have any family ties with you?"
"Yes." Sarah looked at them with disgust. "You should focus on your business. It's rude to claim kinship with just anyone."
She really didn't want to deal with them.
Seeing these two reminded her of those unbearable days!
John was furious at her attitude, but given their current situation, he couldn't afford to act tough. He smiled obsequiously, "Sarah, we know we were wrong in the past. You're a kind person. Can't you give us another chance?"
"Yes, Sarah." Sharon pretended to sob, "For so many years, your dad and I had feelings for you. We've always thought about you. Can't you give us another chance?"
Sarah was incredulous, "Do you think I'm an idiot or have amnesia? Move aside, or I'll call the cop!"
This Sarah was too much! They were already so down and out, and she didn't care about their dignity. Yet she still acted so high and mighty!
Did she think she was a good person? It was Sarah who had ruined her two daughters.
John and Sharon exchanged glances, unsure of what to do. But seeing Sarah's expression, it didn't seem like she was joking about calling the police. They reluctantly stepped aside, still calculating in their minds.
Antonio's mocking gaze swept over them as he prepared to push the wheelchair in another direction. "Francis, the air here isn't good. Let's go over there."
Francis nodded, "Let's go."
Just as they were about to leave, Sharon's eyes lit up, "Wait!"
This time, she didn't look at Sarah but grabbed Francis's wheelchair, exclaiming, "You... you're Francis!"
John reacted to her shout, "Francis, you're not dead?"
"You're really not dead! That's great!"
In a moment, their faces changed like a palette, emotions shifting rapidly.
Francis didn't know these two people at all. Being grabbed out of nowhere, his expression turned cold, "Are you blind, or have you lost your mind?"
From their conversation with Sarah, there seemed to be some bad history.
But what did that have to do with him? Were these two crazy?
"No! Listen to us!" Sharon didn't mind his coldness, instead, she was excited, "How could we mistake you? It's you! You're my daughter's husband!"
"Yes! You might not have seen us, but how could you forget Lisa? We're Lisa's parents! I'm Ryan's grandmother!"
Sarah was silent, thinking they were crazy.
