Chapter 363 The Arrival of the Man with a Rose
"Trust me on this," he implored.
"Understood, I'll see to it immediately," came the reply before the line went dead. Alex replaced the receiver with a sense of urgency.
As dawn broke the following day, Sarah stirred from her slumber to find Harper nestled against her, her eyes still heavy with sleep.
"Mommy, you're awake," Harper murmured, a sleepy giggle escaping her lips.
Sarah couldn't suppress a smile at her daughter's adorable demeanor. "What brings you here, sweetheart? Why are you seeking me out so early?"
Harper tugged at Sarah's arm, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. "What else, Mommy? I want to go out and play with you. Big brother has everything planned out."
Upon opening the door, Sarah was greeted by the sight of three young boys, each impeccably dressed in suits, their youthful charm radiating.
"What's the plan, boys?" Sarah inquired, playfully tapping Ryan's nose.
Ryan flashed a mischievous grin. "Sarah, Brian has arranged for us to go out and have fun today."
Sarah raised an eyebrow at her son, her curiosity piqued. "What wild scheme have you concocted this time, Brian?"
Brian cleared his throat, attempting to maintain a serious demeanor. "It's not a scheme, Mommy. Let's go." With that, he turned on his heel and strode off, his face devoid of emotion.
Sarah exchanged knowing glances with the remaining children, well-acquainted with Brian's stoic nature.
Throughout the day, Brian led the merry troop, consisting of Sarah and the three other children, on an adventure. He had audaciously rented out an entire amusement park for their enjoyment.
"Mommy, I want to ride the roller coaster!" Harper exclaimed, pointing at the towering structure in the distance.
In the past, they had been forced to endure long queues, but today, they had the park to themselves. Sarah decided to let loose and enjoy the day, unburdened by the usual worries.
Hand in hand, mother and daughter approached the roller coaster. Despite her tender age, Harper was tall enough to occupy the front row.
The three boys watched from a safe distance. Ryan, due to his heart condition, didn't dare to partake in such a thrilling ride.
"Ethan, why don't you join them?" Ryan asked, his eyes fixed on the roller coaster.
"I'm afraid of heights," Ethan admitted, his voice steady.
Ryan nodded in understanding before turning to Brian. "And you, Brian? Why aren't you joining them?"
Brian shot him a sideways glance. "It's boring."
Ryan understood. He had always yearned to experience the roller coaster, but his health had always been a barrier. He hadn't expected Brian to find it uninteresting.
Ethan stifled a chuckle. Being Brian's twin, he understood his brother's quirks all too well.
After a day filled with laughter and excitement, the group made their way to the riverside. Brian, knowing how to please his mother, had reserved a riverside restaurant. As they finished their meal, the night sky erupted in a dazzling display of fireworks, illuminating the darkness.
Sarah watched in awe as the fireworks danced in the sky. Before the excitement could subside, drones took to the sky, putting on a spectacular light show. Sarah's name and image occasionally appeared amidst the display, leaving her speechless.
"Thank you, everyone," Sarah whispered, her eyes gleaming with gratitude.
"Thank you, my darlings," she added, her voice choked with emotion. She tenderly cupped each of her children's faces, planting a kiss on each one. The group, comprised of one adult and four children, reveled in their joy, oblivious to the figure of Antonio trailing behind them.
Antonio had been shadowing them since morning. A message from James had confirmed that Allen was indeed absent from the head office, and there were whispers that he hadn't been seen in a while.
Considering Ethan's upcoming birthday, the pieces seemed to fall into place. Allen had been meticulously planning for this day. Upon receiving the message, Antonio had decided to tail Sarah, not with ill intent, but out of curiosity to uncover Allen's true identity.
Despite his vigilance, Antonio noticed nothing out of the ordinary throughout the day. However, the more he pondered, the more he felt that something was amiss.
Antonio was unsure of Sarah's financial status, but he doubted she could afford to rent an entire amusement park, let alone organize such an extravagant drone display by the river.
The grandeur of the event was clearly designed to please Sarah; she wouldn't go to such lengths merely to entertain herself.
As he mulled over these thoughts, a well-dressed man, a bouquet of roses in hand, suddenly materialized by Sarah's side…
