Chapter 237 A Woman Says No When She Means Yes

Caught off guard by his straightforward question, Sarah was a little taken aback. She soon realized that Antonio might be using this opportunity to make amends. She hesitated momentarily, lowering her gaze and avoiding eye contact with Antonio.

Her heart raced, seemingly with a mind of its own, uncontrollably pounding. She conceded that Antonio's words profoundly affected her innermost feelings. The icy walls erected during their argument began to thaw, and her heart stirred as if stirred by warmth.

Antonio, observing her response, advanced two steps closer, his towering figure looming over her.

"Sarah," he began, reaching out with a voice deep and tinged with submission.

Feeling uneasy, Sarah turned her head away without uttering a word.

It wasn't until dinner time that Sarah awkwardly stood beside him, consulting the restaurant information. "Mr. Valencia, what would you like for dinner? I can make a reservation in advance."

"No need for reservations. Just come with me," he said curtly, throwing the tablet onto the bed without further discussion.

After tidying up a bit, they left the hotel together. Antonio had deliberately hailed a taxi. As soon as they got in, the driver noticed Antonio considerately shielding Sarah's head. Meanwhile, Sarah sat silently by the window, lost in her thoughts.

Sensing the awkward atmosphere between the two, the driver grinned mischievously and decided to tease them as if he had struck upon something amusing. "Are you two having a lovers' quarrel?"

Both of them were caught off guard by the question. Not being familiar with each other, they remained silent, tacitly agreeing not to engage.

"Ah, squabbles are normal. No need to feel embarrassed. I've been driving for so long and have seen many couples. Quarrels are a common occurrence. Many people pretend not to care, but deep down, it really matters. They can't get past that emotional barrier."

Seeing that they didn't respond, the driver chuckled and shared his experience in a friendly manner.

Sarah's eyes suddenly snapped back like a startled cat.

"Who cares? I definitely don't."

However, Antonio unexpectedly grabbed her hand and said to the driver, "Thank you, sir. I'll keep that in mind."

A trace of tenderness appeared in his eyes. Sarah's attempt at glaring at Antonio had little effect, and she didn't pull her hand away. She simply pouted slightly.

Seeing their faint signs of reconciliation, the driver grinned even wider. "Young man, that's it! When a woman says no, it means yes. When she says yes, it means maybe not."

Sarah, feeling embarrassed by the driver's words, lowered her gaze. What kind of awkward situation was this? Why was a stranger teaching Antonio such strange things?

"The two of you should make up soon. Wishing you both happiness," the driver said, offering his well wishes as they arrived at their destination. Sarah quickly pulled her hand away.

She opened the car door and stepped out, her face slightly flushed and a little annoyed. As she got out of the car, she found herself in a bustling food street, full of people and overwhelming.

Wasn't she supposed to go to the restaurant to eat? How did she end up on this street?

She had always been a fan of lively places, but Antonio never really liked crowded places with lots of people. She had never asked Antonio to take her to places like this before.

"What is this?" she asked in confusion, but there was a hint of anticipation in her eyes.

Antonio walked up behind her, his gaze softened with tenderness as he spoke softly, "I heard there's a Qixi cultural festival here, and I've always wanted to bring you to see it.."

Sarah turned to face him, and their eyes briefly met. She detected a trace of distant regret in his gaze, stirring her heart. Her intuition hinted that Antonio's past might be further behind than she'd realized. How had he spent those solitary years in her absence?

Suddenly, it dawned on her that Antonio might have felt even more isolated than she'd thought. Perhaps his response to Asa's predicament stemmed from a profound fear of losing her. She struggled, as always, to release the resentment that lingered from their arguments, fixating on the people who had surrounded him during her unawareness.

But were these truly important?

After calming down, she could understand that Antonio's explanations were probably genuine. After all, why would he go through all this trouble if he didn't want to be with her? They had already missed each other for five years, and now that they finally reunited, they were constantly at odds with each other.

Thinking of this, she felt that she had gone too far.

Seeing her furrowed brows finally relax, Antonio seized the opportunity to hold her hand.

"Let's go, let's take a stroll," he said.

Being suddenly held by his large hand, her inner turmoil seemed to settle down a bit. This time, she didn't pull back; instead, she savored the warmth that came from his palm, melting the ice in her heart bit by bit.

Upon sensing her wavering, Antonio's eyebrows curved, and a faint smile appeared on his lips.

Feeling embarrassed, Sarah retorted, "It's crowded here. Let's hold hands so we don't get separated."

Antonio observed her hesitant expression, and his gaze softened as if he were lavishing attention on her.

"The driver was right after all. When a woman says no to something..." he murmured, with a hint of teasing in his voice.

"What nonsense are you talking about!" she replied, pretending to be annoyed.
