Chapter 482 Divorce
Brian knew that with his uncle's accident, Sarah must be devastated. Especially after the cancellation of Antonio's birthday surprise, She must be feeling terrible inside.
She wanted to stay in the hospital, which meant she must have quarreled with Antonio. Brian understood, so he took on the role of the parent, looking after his younger siblings and Ryan.
Although Antonio occasionally came home, Brian could tell that he looked terrible.
Their home seemed calm on the surface, but Brian had a feeling, a sense that their family was on the brink of falling apart.
Sarah didn't answer Brian's question. Her first words were to ask him to encrypt her phone with the highest level of security.
Brian paused for a moment, then quickly secured Sarah's phone within seconds.
"Mommy, what's happened?" Brian wasn't easily fooled. For Sarah to be so cautious, something serious must have happened.
Sarah sighed, "Brian, Mommy wants to go abroad."
"Why?" Brian asked, surprised.
Fighting back the urge to cry, Sarah explained Brady's situation to Brian.
"Your uncle's illness is very serious now. If we stay in the country, all we can do is wait and see; he could be in danger at any time, and we may never know if he will wake up. We may be just waiting for him to die ."
"The doctors say that there's a treatment abroad that can stimulate your uncle's brain, giving him a chance to wake up. I want to try it."
Brian had heard of this technology; although it wasn't fully developed, it had already entered the clinical stage abroad and was generally considered safe.
Moreover, his company was trying to establish contact with similar projects. If they could use this to help his uncle, it would be wonderful.
Brian breathed a sigh of relief. Although Sarah had told him about this, it didn't mean all their current problems were solved.
"No problem, Mommy. I'll handle the hospital and flight arrangements. You don't have to worry about any of that. But what does this have to do with encrypting your phone? We're going abroad for treatment, not fleeing the country. What's happened?"
Faced with Brian's question, Sarah hesitated, unsure of how to explain.
Brian thought for a moment, then tentatively asked, "Mommy, have you not told Daddy about going abroad?"
Not wanting to be too explicit, as it would hurt the children, Sarah opted for a lighter tone.
"Yes, I'm still angry with him and don't want to tell him about this. So, I'm going to leave secretly, to catch him off guard. Consider it his punishment."
"Okay. I'll discreetly arrange the flights, using my company's channels. Our company's security is very tight; Daddy won't be able to find any clues." Brian smiled. "Then we'll wait abroad and secretly hide Uncle Brady, making him impossible to find. When you feel like forgiving him, that's when we'll tell him."
Brian's tone remained somewhat light, tinged with a hint of concern.
Seeking treatment abroad was no small decision, and it was different from when Sarah had left home and stayed in his villa.
Previously, she had left impulsively, almost in a fit of anger, which now appeared trivial. However, this time was different.
This time Sarah was crossing oceans, and it involved Brady; it was truly an important matter. Why wouldn't she let Antonio know?
The conflict between the two of them was definitely not minor.
After hearing Brian speak this way, Sarah felt somewhat comforted.
No matter what had happened, her children were still on her side.
"Brian, you’re amazing. We'll go abroad together to treat your uncle's illness, and we'll have some fun too. Mommy hasn't visited your company yet. My son is so capable, Mommy will definitely have an eye-opening experience. It would be even better if your uncle woke up by then..."
After hearing Sarah say this, Brian became even more worried. "Don't worry, Mommy. I can take care of everything for you. As long as I'm here, there's nothing to worry about."
Sarah smiled. "I know my baby is the best. You've been taking care of your brother and sister during this time, and I'm so relieved. How about I go back and make you some delicious food as a reward?"
Brian pursed his lips. After two seconds of silence, he finally voiced the question that weighed heavily on his heart. "Mommy, I don't need delicious food as a reward. I just want you to tell me the truth. What exactly happened between you and Daddy?"
Eventually, Sarah couldn't hold back anymore. Faced with her son's question, the strength she had been forcing herself to maintain finally dissipated in the face of her family's concern.
She drew in a deep breath, tears trickling from the corners of her eyes. Regardless of her decision, regardless of where she was ultimately bound, reflecting now, regret lingered over it all.
Sarah hurriedly comforted him, "I'm fine, Brian. Mommy is fine. But the fact is, we are destined to part ways."
She took a deep breath, thinking that Brian was the oldest of the three children, and even counting Ryan, he was the most mature among them.
It wouldn't hurt to tell him a few things. After all, they would eventually find out.
Moreover, Brian was unlike the other children. If he desired to investigate, no one could deter him. And should it come to that, dealing with him might prove even more challenging.
"Brian, there are very big problems between Daddy and Mommy; it's not just about this birthday party, we might... be getting a divorce."
"What?!" Brian had imagined all possibilities, but he had never considered that Sarah might be thinking of divorce.
He had only just come to accept the fact that Antonio was his father, largely because of Sarah.
And now, she was ready to give up...
"Brian, there are many things that can't be explained clearly over the phone. Don't tell your brother and sister about the divorce for now. Once I've made a final decision, I'll discuss it with you in detail, okay?"
Brian suppressed the shock in his heart, clenching and then releasing his small fists. "Okay, Mommy," he said. "I'll arrange the hospital visit as soon as possible and try to get there quickly. Just let me know when you're ready to discuss the divorce."
Sarah nodded. "Okay, Antonio might be returning home now. Don't let on that you know anything at home, just act as if you're unaware of anything."
"Don't worry."
After hanging up, Brian immediately contacted his overseas employees to organize a private plane and the treatment at the hospital.
Just then, the door made a noise; Antonio had come back.
Brian's heart tightened, and he quickly hung up.
But Antonio had caught a few words.
He immediately became alert. "Brian, who were you talking to?"
