Chapter 811 He Just Doesn't Like Her
"Francis!" Antonio's heart clenched when he heard Francis say that.
Francis gave a helpless smile, "Alright, let's not talk about this anymore."
He looked around and noticed that every corner of the house was cozy and exquisite, showing the owner's care.
"Antonio, I should be the one thanking you for taking such good care of Ryan and managing the company so well. You've worked hard these past few years." Francis said.
Sarah listened to their back-and-forth conversation and, seeing the harmonious atmosphere, couldn't help but sneak upstairs to check on Ryan.
Meanwhile, outside the villa, Mary was still wandering aimlessly.
Although she didn't know what was going on between Antonio and Francis, from the looks of it, they probably hadn't seen each other for many years, maybe even had a dramatic parting.
If she went back in now, she would definitely interrupt their long-awaited reunion.
Mary thought that she should she go back to Marshall City.
The Valencia Family had a lot of things to deal with, and staying here seemed to be causing more trouble.
Maybe she should say goodbye tonight and leave tomorrow.
Just as this thought crossed her mind, Mary's phone suddenly rang.
It was Shirley! Timothy's mom!
Mary always tried to avoid Shirley because every time Shirley called, it was never good news.
And Shirley was the most opposed to her marriage with Timothy.
She thought Mary was not good enough for her excellent son, Timothy!
But no matter what, she still had to show respect to her elders. With a nervous heart, Mary answered the phone, "Hello, Mom."
"You still remember I'm your mom?" Before she could say anything, Shirley's sarcastic voice came through.
Shirley snorted, "Do you remember that you're Timothy's wife."
Mary bit her lip, not knowing how to respond.
Her marriage to Timothy was more secretive than a state secret; not a single word had leaked out.
Shirley, not hearing her speak, got even angrier and said, "Even if you're young and naive, you should know you're married, right? How can you be away from home all the time? And now you're in Capital City!"
She was already dissatisfied with Mary. How lucky was Mary to marry Timothy, and she didn't even appreciate it!
Mary sighed, feeling helpless. "Mom, I should be back soon."
"How soon?" Shirley's voice rose, "Timothy was in a car accident! His leg is broken, and he can't walk! He needs someone to take care of him, but where are you?"
Mary's mind went blank. Did Timothy break his leg?
But she had no idea! If Timothy had told her, how could she not go back? Why didn't Timothy tell her?
Before she could figure it out, she heard a low male voice on the other end of the line, sounding groggy as if he had just woken up. "Mom, what are you telling her?"
Shirley glanced at him and immediately softened her tone, "Did I wake you? What could I be telling her? Of course, I'm telling her to come back and take care of you! It's outrageous for her to be out all the time!"
Timothy frowned, "Give me the phone."
Shirley instinctively pulled the phone away, "No..."
Before she could finish, Timothy's long arm reached out and grabbed the phone, glancing at the call screen before putting it to his ear, "Mary."
Mary's heart trembled at the sound of Timothy's magnetic voice, "I'm here."
"I'm fine. Don't mind what Mom said. No need to rush back."
Their relationship was not a typical marriage. When they got married, it was agreed that he would protect her to repay Kenneth's kindness, not for her to fulfill any wifely duties.
Besides, there was someone more important to her in Capital City.
"Did you really break your leg?" Mary asked.
Timothy glanced at his cast, "It's not serious. You don't need to worry."
Mary felt a pang of sadness. How could she not worry?
Thinking about his injury made her anxious, and she unconsciously clenched her nails.
Shirley, hearing Timothy say that, got angry and snapped, "Why shouldn't she worry? You married her, and she's like a decoration. She doesn't come back to take care of you, and you have to consider her in everything. Do you owe her?"
Timothy, annoyed by her voice, hung up.
Mary stared at her phone, feeling empty inside.
She didn't understand why Timothy didn't tell her about such a big thing, and from his words, it seemed he didn't need her to come back. Did he dislike her that much?
He didn't want to see her when he was sick and in pain.
But Mary couldn't control her heart.
Even if he disliked her, she still wanted to go back and see Timothy, to be by his side immediately.
Having made up her mind, Mary quickly ran to the side to hail a cab.
She soon returned to the Valencia Villa and, without greeting anyone, found Sarah and said urgently, "I'm sorry, Sarah, something happened to Timothy. I have to go back to Marshall City immediately and can't continue taking care of Cynthia."
Sarah quickly grabbed her hand, "Don't worry, take your time. What happened to Dr. Reed?"
"He was in a car accident and broke his leg."
Antonio happened to walk by and heard this, frowning, "Is it serious?"
"I don't know." Mary didn't know anything, so she had to go back to see for herself to be at ease.
Understanding her feelings, Sarah comforted her, "Alright, don't worry about things here Capital City. I can take care of Cynthia with the caregiver. Have you bought your ticket?"
"I bought it on the way here, the flight is in two hours."
"Then I'll help you pack, and the driver will take you to the airport."
Mary didn't refuse and quickly went to pack her things.
After packing, Sarah wanted to go with her to the airport, but Mary refused, "Sarah, you should rest in your condition, and Antonio just had surgery and needs care."
Sarah agreed, thinking about Francis, who had just returned and needed arrangements. "Alright, I'll have the driver take you. Let me know when you land."
Mary reluctantly said goodbye to Sarah.
Who knew when they would meet again, but they promised to keep in touch and video chat often.
Both had red eyes when they parted.
After Mary left, Antonio came out of the study with his phone and said, "I just called Dr. Reed."
"How is he? Is the fracture serious?"
Seeing Mary so anxious, it must be bad.
Antonio smiled and shook his head, "It's a minor fracture."
Sarah was silent.
