Chapter 117 Why Did You Lie?

"What did you just say?" Antonio's face went from zero to a hundred real quick, and he shot up from his seat. "Where is he?"

Harper, looking like a deer in headlights, pointed outside with his tiny finger. "He's in the backyard."

Antonio bolted out of the room.

On the bed, Sarah finally got a breather, her heart slowing down a bit from the panic.

Seeing Harper, she quickly fixed her clothes.

Antonio was totally losing it!

Meanwhile, Antonio flew down the stairs, barking orders at the bodyguards to keep an eye on Sarah and Harper. He made a beeline for the backyard and spotted Ryan sitting on the ground, clutching his chest, his little face twisted in pain.

"Ryan." Antonio rushed over and scooped him up. "Is your heart acting up again?"

Ryan felt super guilty and couldn't even look Antonio in the eye, so he just stared at the ground.

He swallowed hard and mumbled, "Yeah, I, I don't feel good."

He'd only meant to fake being sick to get Antonio to come over. But lying to Antonio for the first time had his heart racing, making him stutter.

He was a nervous wreck, his face even paler, cold sweat on his forehead, and his body shaking a bit.

Antonio saw Ryan's weird state and thought he was really having an episode, his eyes narrowing in concern.

He grabbed Ryan's small, cold hand, saying, "It's okay, I'll call the doctor right now."

Antonio carried Ryan back to the room on the second floor, gently laid him on the bed, and tried to comfort him.

Not long after, the family doctor showed up.

After a thorough check-up, the family doctor gave Ryan a knowing look, then turned to Antonio. "Mr. Valencia, let's chat outside."

Antonio's frown deepened, but he didn't say anything and followed the doctor out.

In the hallway, Antonio asked in a low voice, "What's the deal? Is his condition getting worse?"

The family doctor sighed first, then said, "Mr. Antonio Valencia, don't worry. Actually, Mr. Ryan Valencia didn't have an episode."

"Didn't have an episode?" Antonio was skeptical. "You mean he was faking it?"

The family doctor nodded. "Yep. I think Mr. Ryan Valencia had a reason for doing this. Mr. Antonio Valencia, you should have a good talk with him."

Antonio went quiet.

After seeing the doctor off, he went back to the room with a serious look on his face.

Ryan was sitting obediently at the head of the bed, his small face still super pale. He kept licking his lips, his small hands fidgeting.

Antonio could see Ryan was nervous. He walked to the bedside and sat down, asking calmly, "Ryan, why did you lie?"

Ryan knew his little trick was busted. He quickly looked up and admitted, "Dad, I'm sorry, I, I just..."

Seeing Ryan's fear, Antonio held his cold little hand. "It's okay, tell me the truth. I'm not mad."

He understood Ryan. Ryan had always been a good kid and never lied.

This time, there had to be a good reason for it.

Ryan couldn't look Antonio in the eye. He turned his head and quietly said, "I just didn't want Dad to be mean to Sarah. I really like Sarah."

Hearing this, Antonio was momentarily stunned, a mix of emotions flashing in his deep eyes.

So, that’s what it was.

He had totally lost it earlier. Not just Sarah, but even the kids must’ve been scared out of their minds.

Antonio went quiet, slowly calming his earlier rage.

Meanwhile, Sarah and Harper, stuck in the room, stayed silent, the air thick with tension.

Not long ago, after Sarah left Antonio's room, the bodyguards stopped her and "escorted" her back to her room with Harper.

She knew Antonio had them watching her to make sure she didn’t bolt.

Facing those big, burly bodyguards, she had no choice but to angrily go back to the room with Harper and plop down on the sofa, fuming.

Harper, scared by Sarah's bad mood, didn’t dare get close and sat quietly a bit further away.

She blinked her big eyes, cautiously watching Sarah. Since Sarah wasn’t talking, she didn’t dare break the silence either.

Harper then pitifully hugged herself, unable to help but swallow.

Sarah looked super mad, which was pretty scary.

From then on, Sarah and Harper were basically grounded.

Antonio was convinced Sarah would try to escape again, so he had servants take turns guarding outside the room.

Every time Sarah opened the door, she’d see the servants blocking her way, determined not to let her take a single step outside.

Sarah knew this was Antonio's order, so arguing with the servants was pointless. In the end, she just stayed inside without stepping out.

This was practically like being in prison!

Harper tried to say something to cheer Sarah up, but this time, whether she joked or helped Sarah curse Antonio, Sarah’s expression didn’t soften at all.

Harper could clearly sense that Sarah was genuinely angry this time, the kind that couldn’t be easily appeased.

Her little face fell, and she couldn’t help but sigh, silently complaining in her heart, 'Stupid Antonio, always making Sarah mad!'

Now, Sarah was really mad, and even Harper couldn’t cheer her up.

In short, she was powerless. Antonio could figure out how to fix this himself. She was officially on strike!

Sarah didn’t know Harper’s thoughts. She sat alone by the window, staring into the distance for a long time.

As the sun set, the dim light cast on her face, making her expression even more somber.

In her mind, she linked together a series of upcoming ordeals upon her return home, intensifying the fire of anger within her.

She had lost count of how many times Antonio had forced her without any explanation.

He was clearly with Lisa, raising Ryan together, yet he refused to divorce Sarah.

And for Ryan, he made Harper suffer.

And...

If she were to list Antonio's crimes, it would take three days and nights to finish.

She had had enough and didn’t want to be oppressed by Antonio anymore!

As the last bit of light vanished on the horizon, Sarah's expression grew darker than the night itself.

As she thought about it, it felt like something exploded in her chest.

She picked up her phone and called her lawyer.
