Chapter 707 Antonio Has Something on His Mind

Antonio was chillin' with a plate of fruit, looking all calm and collected.

He even threw a nod and a grin at Sophia, saying, "Hey, long time no see."

Sarah shot a glance at Sofia, then at a just-as-confused Alex, feeling a bitterness she couldn't quite put into words. She finally just sighed, "It's a long story."

"You two got some secret thing going on?" Sophia teased, clearly joking.

Alex was super curious too, especially since he couldn't stand Benjamin's cocky attitude. He was on high alert with Benjamin around.

He worried Benjamin might've pressured Sarah into something.

But Sarah seemed totally chill as she explained, "Nah, Mr. Harrington's just being nice, saw we were in a jam and decided to help out."

Antonio forced a smile and nodded along.

Better to be seen as a nice guy than a shady character or secret lover, right?

Sofia and Alex seemed half-convinced and didn't dig deeper. They plopped down on the couch and asked, "Where are the kids?"

"Upstairs with my dad."

Ever since Kevin's health got better, he'd been hanging out with the kids every day, so no worries about them being bored.

Seeing them chat, Antonio took it upon himself to grab some tea.

He and Alex kinda knew each other, so it wasn't too awkward. He played the host and made tea, saying, "This tea's pretty good, give it a shot." His tone was casual, like he was at his own place.

Alex raised an eyebrow, a bit suspicious, "Mr. Harrington, you seem pretty familiar with Sarah's place?"

Antonio's hand paused for a sec before he said, "Yeah, been here a few times, got the lay of the land."

Alex was testing him, and Antonio was wary of Alex too.

But they were both smart enough to know when to back off.

Sarah and Sofia were deep in their convo, not noticing the subtle tension, and were getting all emotional about how tough things had been.

Sarah said, "I just hope you and Alex can appreciate each other now. It wasn't easy getting together, so talk things out."

Every time they argued, Sarah would get frustrated too.

But before she could react, they'd already made up.

Sofia suddenly laughed, remembering something funny. "I remember in college, I used to see you with Antonio all the time. I was single then and super jealous."

She added, "Now I finally have Alex, and you're still with Antonio."

She stopped abruptly, realizing she messed up.

Seeing all eyes on her, Sofia wished she could take it back.

Oh no!

He was Benjamin! Not Antonio!

Sophia thought she must be losing it to say that.

Alex found Sofia's embarrassed look kinda cute and smiled slightly, "You can't even remember where you put the car keys, but you remember college so clearly."

Sofia blurted out, "How could I forget stuff about Sarah?" Her voice dropped to a whisper.

"It's just that Mr. Harrington is so confusing. They look way too alike."

But jokes often hit home.

Antonio immediately tensed up, feeling a chill run down his spine for the first time.

For Antonio, who had a lot on his mind, this whole scene was pure torture!

But Sarah just sipped her tea, keeping her cool.

When she looked up again, everything seemed back to normal.

"Try these grapes, Sofia. They're bomb."

Her cheerful words instantly brought the vibe in the living room back to life.

Antonio watched Sarah smile, his brows furrowing more and more, feeling even more tormented.

He thought Sarah's reaction was weirdly calm when Sophia mentioned how much "Benjamin" and Antonio looked alike.

Sarah had no plans to spill the beans. If she wanted to out Benjamin, she would've done it ages ago, and definitely not in front of Sofia and Alex.

She knew that day would come eventually.

They ended up chilling in the living room for a long time until a servant popped in to ask if they needed guest rooms prepped.

"Of course!"

Where else would they crash?

Sofia yawned, "Sarah, you should hit the hay early. You can't wear yourself out now."

"Okay." Sarah glanced at Antonio nearby and said calmly, "Mr. Harrington, you should head back and rest too. If anything comes up tomorrow morning, give me a call."

Antonio had hoped he might find a way to stay the night.

But with Sofia and Alex here, no chance.

He sighed quietly, took his eyes off Sofia and Alex, and said, "I might have to hit the office first thing tomorrow. I'll have the driver take you to the airport. If anything comes up, call me anytime."

Sarah responded faintly, still feeling emotional, and couldn't muster a kind look for him.

Once Antonio left, Sarah didn't want to bother Sophia and Alex, who had just made up. She said to Sofia, "You two should get some rest. The kids will need your help tomorrow."

Sofia waved her hand, "Good night!"

Sarah chuckled and headed upstairs.

Alex wrapped his arm around Sofia's waist, his deep voice sending shivers down her spine, murmuring, "Sofia, shall we head back to our room too?"

Sofia shivered, her ears turning red. As he nudged her towards the room, she mumbled, "Don't mess around. We're at Sarah's place."

Laughter spilled from Alex's throat, unexpectedly pleasant.

Alex let her go and said, "I'll take a shower first. Let's get some rest tonight."

Sofia blinked, watching him grab toiletries from the luggage and head into the bathroom. The frosted glass door closed with a soft click, followed by silence.

Her expression fell, and she sighed, sitting on the edge of the bed, feeling a wave of exhaustion.

She'd been really tired these past few days.

But Sofia had been holding back her emotions, not wanting to stress Sarah out while she was pregnant.

Besides, what good would it do to talk about her family troubles?

Not even Alex could help much.

She never expected her family's smooth-running business to hit such a massive snag, one so big she felt powerless and couldn't just stand by.

But should she leave the Capital City and go back?

Sofia was torn.

Going back would mean accepting her family's arrangements, right?
