Chapter 481 Bottom Line
Antonio rushed to the hospital lawn, knelt on the ground, and began a meticulous search through the weeds and soil.
After what seemed like an eternity, he finally unearthed the carefully designed matching rings from a small pit. His appearance was disheveled, and his head was covered in sweat.
However, he paid no attention to his state. Instead, with a dazed expression, he delicately picked up the rings, treating them as if they were the most precious treasure in the world.
Before long, James had organized a team to swiftly arrive at the hospital. Surveillance posts were set up in every corner to closely monitor Sarah's movements, ready to detect even the slightest action.
With everything in place, James sought out Antonio.
Seeing the president in such a state deeply shook his heart.
At that moment, Antonio appeared disheveled, covered in dirt, with bloodshot eyes. Surprisingly, the ring in his hands was wiped clean, immaculate, without a speck of dirt.
Although James did not fully comprehend the events between the president and his wife, for a brief moment, he was reminded of five years ago when the lady had an accident, and her fate hung in the balance.
The president back then was even more terrifying and pitiable than now.
Looking at Antonio in such a state, James experienced a complex mix of emotions. After a brief pause, he hurried over to help him up.
“Mr. Valencia, everything at the hospital has been arranged. Do you have any other instructions?”
Antonio snapped back to reality, carefully placed the rings in his pocket, and with James’s support, slowly stood up. His gaze turned icy cold in an instant.
He returned to his car, grabbed a towel, and cleaned himself up. His expression grew increasingly grave.
"Conduct a thorough investigation at the Jerretts Group's hotels. I want details on all alcohol served three days ago, the personnel in and out, and the entire service staff. I need clarity on everything."
Antonio was determined to uncover the truth about what had happened. He wouldn't allow anyone to stand in the way of reuniting with Sarah!
James promptly initiated the investigation and swiftly returned with results. Even though the wine bottles and cutlery from that day had already been sent for recycling, James had them retrieved for a thorough examination.
Antonio immediately headed to the hotel.
The hotel had closed for business, and all the staff and managers were standing in the lobby waiting to be questioned.
No one dared to object; they could only silently await their fate.
James reported, "Mr. Valencia, we've tested all the wine bottles and cutlery from that day. There were no traces of drugs, and after questioning all the staff, there's no evidence to suggest that they were acting under someone else's orders. The hangover medicine provided by the hotel was indeed expired, but there were absolutely no other substances in it.
“Also, the executives' gathering that day had been scheduled last month, and indeed, they were celebrating the birth of Mr. Alan’s grandson.”
Antonio looked at the investigation results, his gaze darkening. "So, everything is just a coincidence."
James pursed his lips as he replied, "It seems that way for now."
"Do you believe that?"
Antonio threw the investigation results to the ground with force.
An extreme coincidence like that would unquestionably be man-made!
The hangover remedy was expired; he was drunk and unconscious, yet despite his efforts to recall the event, he had no memory of it?
Antonio didn't believe in such coincidences.
James hadn't seen Antonio this enraged in a long time, and he felt somewhat intimidated. "Mr. Valencia, I will conduct a more thorough investigation. Please give me a little more time."
But Antonio shook his head. "No need!"
James gulped, not understanding what Antonio was planning to do next. With the thorough investigation of the hotel completed, any remaining issues could only involve the people implicated. However, this hotel was among the most luxurious in the capital, with a total staff numbering no less than three hundred, if not five hundred, and dozens on the first-floor service staff alone. Investigating all of them would be impossible in a short amount of time.
James bowed his head, patiently awaiting Antonio’s command.
Antonio strode toward the door, clearly no longer interested in dealing with the hotel's affairs. His focus had shifted to—
“James, investigate Serene. I want every detail of her life from birth to the present,” Antonio commanded.
James was momentarily stunned but then quickly nodded in agreement. It was evident that the president was taking this matter seriously.
Having heard about the relationship between Serene and the president, James was aware that the president had always treated her with courtesy. However, when it involved Sarah, the president would show no mercy.
Antonio quietly returned to the car and gestured to the driver to take him home. As he settled into the seat, he reflected on recent events, realizing a connection to Serene—from the car accident to the present. He was convinced that something was amiss with Serene.
In the past, Antonio had always considered Serene’s saving of his life and their shared experience in the snowy mountains. Even if she occasionally acted inappropriately, he brushed it aside. But now, the situation had changed. Serene had crossed a line, and anyone impacting his relationship with Sarah would receive no mercy.
Meanwhile, at the hospital, Sarah changed into fresh clothes. She carefully folded the jacket Antonio had left behind and placed it in the closet. Seated by the window, she observed the bustling activity below, her heart sinking.
With a heavy heart, she dialed Brian's number on her phone.
"Hello, Mommy, you finally called me. When are you coming back? Is everything okay at the hospital?"
