Chapter 287 Punching Antonio
"Mommy! I want to sleep with you tonight," Brian said.
Antonio was taken aback but reluctantly opened the door.
"Ethan, Harper, why do you both want to sleep with Mommy tonight?" Antonio asked, feeling helpless.
"Why can't we sleep with Mommy?" Brian countered.
'Fine…'
"We want to sleep between Mommy and Daddy!" Harper shouted and jumped onto the bed.
The king-sized bed provided ample space for two adults and two children, yet Antonio's heart felt crowded. Silently, he sighed within his thoughts.
It marked their initial experience of cohabitation since their return from the island. Additionally, it marked their first time living together as a family of four, a milestone worthy of celebration.
Nevertheless, that night, Antonio had a troubling dream. In it, he found himself either engaging in conflict or being overpowered. It left him feeling restless throughout the night.
As dawn approached, he found himself caught in a state between dreams and wakefulness, his body aching all over.
"Sarah..." Antonio turned around and embraced the person beside him without fully waking up. The soft body in his arms made the punches he endured that night feel worthwhile.
With his eyes closed, Antonio rubbed his chin against the person's head, preparing to give them a kiss. Just then, Brian slowly opened his eyes. He felt uncomfortable with his head being rubbed and saw Antonio's mouth approaching him.
"Ah!" Brian screamed and punched Antonio in the eye.
The sudden scream jolted the four people on the bed awake.
Not knowing what had happened, Sarah looked at Antonio in astonishment. He held his eye with one hand and looked at "Ethan" with surprise.
"What's wrong? What happened?" Sarah hurriedly approached to check Antonio's condition. "What happened?"
Faced with Sarah's confusion, Antonio didn't know how to answer. "I… I'm fine."
Antonio had just awoken, feeling a bit disoriented, his mind filled with thoughts of Sarah. Mistaking the person beside him for her, he instinctively embraced Brian, who promptly punched him. The embarrassment was overwhelming.
"Ethan, why did you hit Daddy?" Sarah looked at her son, knowing that he was the one who had done it.
Brian clenched his lips and, recalling the scene he saw when he first opened his eyes, anger filled his eyes.
"Ask him!" he said, then jumped off the bed and went straight into the children's room without looking back.
Harper rubbed her eyes. "Mommy, I'll go check on Br— Uh, I mean, my brother. What's going on with him?"
"Okay, go ahead." Sarah sighed helplessly, wondering what had happened to Ethan tonight. Why did it feel like his personality had changed?
Antonio leaned against the headboard and rubbed his eye sockets. Ethan was still young, so he still had a lot to learn.
"It's quite intense. I wonder if there are any bruises."
"Come over here, let me check." Sarah knelt on the bed and leaned forward to examine closely. "Not bad, nothing serious. Just a bit of bruising around the eye socket. I'll take you to apply some medicine."
Antonio's mind was preoccupied with how he should repair his relationship with Ethan. He had expected that yesterday's birthday party would at least bring a smile to Ethan's face, but it seemed to be getting worse.
Sarah sensed Antonio's thoughts and comforted him softly, "Ethan might just be a bit grumpy after waking up. Since he hasn't slept next to anyone else, he's probably not used to it yet."
"It's not Ethan's fault; it's mine." Antonio scratched his head. "I will try harder to make Ethan accept me."
Faced with this sudden commitment, Sarah felt a faint pang in her heart. "I will talk to Ethan about it, so don't be too sad."
"Then give me a kiss." Antonio pointed to his injured spot.
Sarah paused for a moment, realizing for the first time that this man was exceptionally good at playing the victim!
Sarah rolled her eyes at him. "Ugh! Hurry up and get ready for work."
In the children's room, Ethan, who had not slept well all night, grew even more concerned upon learning about Brian's situation.
"Brian, do you think we've been found out? I've never hit anyone before..."
"I don't think so. He's just too intimidating." Brian thought of a plan in his mind. "I need to keep staying here. It might inconvenience you for a few days."
"I don't mind. As long as it's for Mommy's sake, I can do anything," Ethan immediately reassured him.
Brian patted his little brother's head. "Alright, don't worry, I won't let him bully Mommy."
"Ethan, Harper, Ryan, wake up!"
Downstairs, Sarah had already prepared breakfast. Normally, these three children would have come downstairs by now, but why weren't they coming out today?
"Good morning, Sarah." Ryan rubbed his sleepy eyes and walked out.
He had been consumed by worry throughout the night, fearing Brian's potential exposure. He only drifted into a restless sleep at dawn.
At this moment, Harper and Brian came out of their rooms. When Harper saw Ryan, she happily walked over and held his hand.
Brian wasn't very familiar with him, so he just nodded briefly and walked downstairs first.
Sarah frowned. Ethan's attitude had changed not only towards Antonio, but also towards Ryan. Could it be that the two of them had a fight?
That shouldn't be right. They were fine during dinner yesterday.
Taking advantage of the meal preparation time, Sarah quietly pulled "Ethan" aside. "Ethan, did you have a fight with Ryan?"
"Why would I fight with him?" Brian asked back.
Sarah was even more surprised. "Your tone… Why are you starting to sound more like Brian? Have you been talking on the phone a lot recently?"
