Chapter 52 I Won't Allow You to Die

Antonio slumped onto the table, the room spinning like a bad trip, a loud buzzing in his head. He tried to stand, but his legs were jelly.

It wasn't until he heard Sarah making a break for it that he forced himself up, but the dizziness was a killer.

He raised his hand to his head, only to feel something warm and sticky.

"Damn it!" Antonio muttered, clutching his head as he staggered after her.

Sarah bolted to the elevator, mashing the buttons like a maniac, but the thing was dead, not even a flicker.

Antonio must've locked it on purpose. What a sneaky bastard!

Sarah didn't have time to think and dashed for the stairwell.

She'd barely taken a few steps when she heard heavy footsteps behind her.

In the quiet, empty corridor, the sound of his leather shoes hitting the floor was like a drumbeat, echoing.

The sound sent a chill down Sarah's spine, making her shiver all over.

She whipped her head around and saw Antonio stumbling after her.

Right now, he looked nothing like his usual cool and collected self. Blood was streaming down his face, soaking his collar, staining his white shirt. But more shocking than the blood were his bloodshot eyes. "Sarah, stop right there!"

Seeing he hadn't passed out, Sarah felt a weird sense of relief, but the cold fury in his voice made her heart race.

She had to get out of there, now!

Sarah didn't waste a second and bolted into the stairwell.

Maybe out of fear, her legs were like noodles, shaking uncontrollably.

On the 32nd floor, even on a good day, she wasn't sure she could make it all the way down in one go.

In her current mess, she had to dodge Antonio to protect Brady's surveillance footage!

For a moment, the stairwell was filled with the sound of heavy, chaotic footsteps.

Sarah ran like her life depended on it, her nerves on edge, but she could feel the footsteps behind her getting closer and closer.

She glanced back in panic, only to see Antonio right on her tail, but she was running on fumes.

The next second, her leg gave out, and she missed a step, tumbling down the stairs! "Ah!"

"Sarah!" In that instant, Antonio's hand grabbed at thin air, watching helplessly as she tumbled down the stairs, his heart sinking with her.

This scene yanked him back to five years ago, to the moment he watched Sarah fall off the cliff.

He let out a pained cry and sped down the stairs.

Sarah didn't even have time to react before everything around her started spinning like crazy. She could only feel herself falling, getting hit over and over, pain shooting through every part of her body.

The sensation of falling quickly reminded her of that day when she fell off the cliff.

She was helpless, and despair surged up all at once, almost crushing her heart.

Even so, Sarah clung to the backpack like her life depended on it. It had the evidence that could save Brady; she couldn't lose it!

She tumbled down several flights of stairs before finally crashing onto a landing, her whole body feeling like it was falling apart. But she gritted her teeth, forcing herself to stay conscious.

No way she could get caught; she still had to save Brady.

Sarah clutched her backpack, using the last bit of her strength to try to get up, but she couldn't move an inch. In the end, her vision went black, and she passed out.

Antonio rushed over, his strides long and frantic, only to see Sarah with her head covered in blood, eyes shut tight. It felt like a knife had been plunged into his heart.

"Sarah, wake up." Antonio's voice trembled, his hands shaking uncontrollably. His eyes were filled with fear as he gently patted Sarah's face, trying to wake her. "I won't let you die, Sarah!"

But Sarah didn't react at all. Her breathing was faint, and blood kept seeping out.

In full panic mode, Antonio swiftly scooped up Sarah and bolted to the hospital.

At the hospital's emergency center, the staff, who had been notified in advance, were already on edge.

Seeing Antonio rush in, covered in blood and holding a bloodied Sarah with her clothes torn, everyone was stunned.

The hospital director was the first to snap out of it, hurrying over. Just as he opened his mouth, Antonio barked, "Save her, now!"

The hospital director flinched at the shout, "Yes, Mr. Valencia!"

He quickly waved over the medical staff, who rushed over with a gurney. Antonio gently placed Sarah down, like she was made of glass.

The blood on Sarah's face had dried, covering more than half of her visage.

The skin not covered in blood was so pale it was whiter than the bedsheets.

Her exposed arms and shoulders were almost entirely covered in bruises and wounds.

Antonio's heart ached sharply, and he couldn't bear to look any longer.

He followed them to the emergency room door. The hospital director looked at him, "Mr. Valencia, leave this to us. You should get your wounds treated."

But his mind was filled with the image of Sarah, lifeless.

With trembling hands, he grabbed the hospital director by the collar. "Promise she'll be fine. If anything goes wrong, this hospital's toast!"

The hospital director was terrified, quickly nodding in agreement.

Although he didn't know who Sarah was, she was clearly someone very important to Antonio. How could he dare to neglect her?

This hospital belonged to the Valencia family!

After calming Antonio, the hospital director called for a nurse to treat his wounds before rushing into the emergency room, clutching his heart.

The red light turned on, and Antonio stood outside the door, his face extremely tense. He stared at the closed door, his hands clenched into fists, knuckles turning white. 'Sarah, you can't die without my permission!' he wondered.
