Chapter 951 Troubled by Love?
Timothy's eyes flicked over to Mary, and he nodded. "I had a conference nearby, so I thought I'd bring her along."
Mary looked a bit uneasy. "Yeah... it just worked out. We're kind of traveling together."
"Oh, gotcha."
Sarah sensed something was off but decided not to pry in front of everyone. She pulled Mary inside. "Come on in. The kids are gonna be so excited to see you."
As they walked into the living room, they saw the children still playing with Nia.
"Mary! It's been forever! You look even prettier!" Harper's sweet words made Mary smile, and the other kids chatted with her for a bit.
Harper's eyes lit up as she ran over to introduce Nia to Mary. "Come meet our little sister! Isn't she adorable? She just smiled again!"
"Sister?" Mary was surprised, looking at the tiny baby. Where did this child come from? Wasn't Eden lost?
She glanced at Sarah, who shook her head helplessly, indicating there was more to the story. Mary suppressed her curiosity and said, "She is adorable. Is she your sister?"
"Yep!" Ethan chimed in proudly. "Mary, she's so fun and well-behaved! She's really close to us!"
Timothy stood in the back, also puzzled.
Mary played with Nia for a while, finding her increasingly cute and familiar. Nia looked a lot like Sarah... Could Timothy's information be wrong?
Unable to contain her curiosity, Mary stood up. "Harper, you guys play with Eden. I need to talk to your mom, okay?"
"Okay!"
"Mary, go ahead! We've got Eden!"
Sarah was amused by their reactions. She was astonished by the remarkable patience these children possessed. They had been watching Nia all day and weren't tired?
Clearly, this wasn't Eden. Or maybe Nia was meant to be part of their family?
Just then, Antonio came downstairs, surprised to see them. After greeting them, he asked the maid to bring two glasses of water and invited them to sit in another part of the living room.
Mary couldn't hold back and whispered, "Sarah, who is this child?"
Sarah sighed softly. "Not only is she not ours, but she's the child of my rival."
Antonio looked at her with a hint of discontent, his tone tinged with self-mockery. "My wife got roped into being a godmother without my knowledge, and then they handed her a child. Quite the drama, huh?"
Sarah was speechless. Antonio really took every chance to vent!
Mary was confused. "Which rival?"
The room fell silent for a moment.
Timothy's lips curled into a faint smile as he gently patted her head. "There was a news report yesterday about the Morrison family adopting a new child and naming a godmother. So, Mr. Morrison is the rival Antonio mentioned."
Sarah and Antonio were speechless.
Antonio's face darkened further, and he gritted his teeth. "Exactly... young and full of energy."
Sarah snorted. "Some people are just insecure, seeing rivals everywhere."
Mary moved a bit away from Timothy. "Exactly, Sarah is amazing. It's normal for people to like her. As long as she firmly chooses one person, what does it matter?"
"Mary, you get it! Let's take the kids upstairs. It's been so long... You should stay over tonight and sleep with me. Ignore them."
Stay over with Sarah? That would avoid any awkwardness!
Mary's eyes lit up with joy, and she quickly agreed. "Sure! I'll fight you for the blanket tonight!"
The two women laughed and chatted, leading the kids upstairs, completely ignoring the two men.
After a moment of silence, Antonio rubbed his nose. "Are we being ignored?"
Timothy's eyes held a mysterious emotion. "Seems like it."
"Want to grab a drink?"
"Sure."
Not long after, Mary, standing by the window upstairs, exclaimed, "Sarah, Antonio and Timothy went out together!"
Sarah glanced casually. "They're probably going for a drink. Don't worry about them."
Both men were sensible; she wasn't concerned.
Sarah nudged Mary. "What, you miss him?"
"I do not!" Mary instinctively denied, then realized she might have overreacted. She sighed. "No... I was just thinking, if they go drinking, Timothy probably won't come back, right? He already booked a hotel."
Not just any hotel, but a double bed room!
When they decided to come to Capital City, they were at the Reed Villa. Timothy's father and stepmother were more excited about their trip than they were. The lively and decisive maid booked them a romantic double bed room as a gift for their journey.
It was rather uncommon for one to regard travel itself as a gift.
But the maid was insistent, so Mary and Timothy reluctantly agreed. They had to play the part of a newlywed couple to avoid worrying their families.
Thankfully, Sarah invited her to stay, avoiding an awkward situation.
Thinking about this, Mary hugged the teasing Sarah. "Sarah, you're my lucky charm, saving me from a tough spot!"
Sarah guessed the situation and couldn't help but tease. "Really? Not mad I interrupted your plans?"
"What plans..." Mary blushed. "There's nothing between us."
Sarah saw the sudden sadness in Mary's eyes and sighed. "Maybe Dr. Reed feels the same way?"
Mary shook her head with a bitter smile. "No, he has someone he loves. It's just not me."
Meanwhile, at the bar, the two men were having a good time after a few drinks.
In the vibrant atmosphere, it was easy to let down their guard and reveal their true thoughts.
Antonio looked at the reserved man beside him, intrigued. "Are you troubled by love?"
