Chapter 289 Is He Suffering from Schizophrenia?

Ethan almost spat out his water. Ice cola was Brian's favorite, but he never liked carbonated drinks himself!

"I... I just felt like drinking it that day, but I don't want it today. Sorry about that," Ethan stammered.

Antonio widened his eyes in disbelief. Ethan actually apologized to him!

Harper discreetly nudged Ethan with her elbow and quickly interrupted their conversation, "Daddy, I want to eat watermelon and grapes later. Can you wash them for me?"

"Oh, sure. You guys can play for a while and come back. I'll prepare it for you." Antonio took back the cola and headed to the kitchen.

Sarah stood by and gently patted her son's cheek. "Ethan, I know you never like drinking cola, but why did you ask Daddy for it that day? And Daddy promised to let you drink today. Why don't you want it anymore?"

Ethan licked his lips. "I... It was my birthday that day, and I just wanted to have something I don't usually drink. But now, I don't feel like it."

Sarah frowned. 'What is going on with Ethan?'

"Mommy, I don't want to talk to you anymore. The three of us are going back to our room to watch cartoons. Goodbye, Mommy," Ethan said hastily and quickly ran back to his room.

Harper and Ryan followed suit as if they were afraid Sarah would find out something.

Sarah couldn't help but mutter, "What are these kids up to?"

Sarah was still very worried and couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off with Ethan.

Although Ethan used to dislike Antonio, he hadn't been constantly making things difficult like he had these past few days. It seemed as though he was deliberately causing trouble.

After a while of hesitation, Antonio carried the fruit and knocked on the door.

"Harper, can you open the door? I brought you some cut fruits."

As soon as Sarah's voice fell, there was some commotion inside the room. The door didn't open until a while later.

It was Brian who opened the door, his brows furrowed. "What do you want?"

"I... brought you fruits," Antonio replied.

Antonio was about to open the door, but Brian blocked his way. "I didn't invite you in, but thanks for the fruits."

Brian took the fruit plate from Antonio and closed the door right away.

Antonio looked bewildered. Ethan had been acting strange lately, becoming more polite and indifferent towards him.

Could it be that he had done something wrong?

Ethan, who had hidden in a hurry in the room, finally heaved a sigh of relief. "That was close."

"Why are you scared? He wouldn't recognize you anyway." Brian placed the fruit in front of his siblings. "Come on, let's eat!"

Meanwhile, Antonio sat in the living room, earnestly searching for ways to make the children happy.

If he had done something wrong, he needed to correct it promptly. He couldn't let the restored parent-child relationship fall back to the freezing point.

At this moment, the door to the children's room opened, and Ethan came out to take the empty fruit tray, taking the opportunity to stretch his body.

Antonio stood up and greeted him, "Ethan, let me take care of that."

"Alright," Ethan replied, lightly pursing his lips. Though he lacked the smile Harper had, his attitude was noticeably warmer than when he opened the door earlier.

"Then I'll go back to my room."

Ethan felt a little guilty and hurriedly ran back to his room.

Antonio pondered over Ethan's behavior while looking at the tray.

'This attitude is like night and day. Could it be that he really likes these fruits so much? But that shouldn't be the case. Ethan is not someone who just a few fruits can sway.

'Yet, his attitude is indeed different.'

"Not sleeping in the middle of the night? What are you thinking?" Sarah walked over. In fact, she couldn't sleep either.

She increasingly felt that Brian's spirit somehow possessed Ethan, every action and movement resembling Brian so much.

Antonio hesitated and recounted the incident to Sarah.

"Sarah, these past two days, I've noticed that Ethan's mood is a bit off. It keeps changing, with completely different attitudes before and after."

"You mean... could he be sick?"

"What kind of illness?!"

Upon hearing this, Sarah also grew a little scared.

'Ethan has never liked sharing his feelings with others since childhood. Maybe there have been too many recent incidents, and he's been keeping a lot to himself. He might have gotten sick from not being able to handle it all at once.'

"I'll go find a doctor right now.

Antonio made a call to James.

"James, contact the best pediatric specialist back home immediately. We need to see them tomorrow."
James had just fallen asleep and was startled awake by the phone call. "What's wrong? Is anyone sick?"

Frowning, Antonio calmly replied, "First, ask around and find out why a child's emotions fluctuate so much, leading to such a drastic change in attitude.

"After you find out, let me know immediately and arrange for an appointment with the doctor tomorrow."

"Understood, sir. I'll handle it right away."

The next day, Antonio and Sarah coaxed and persuaded "Ethan" to go to the hospital.

"Psychiatric Department?" Brian looked at the two big words in front of him and asked, "Mommy, do you think I have a mental illness?"

Sarah awkwardly smiled. "Darling, we're here today just for a test. We're not suspecting anything. We're just getting you checked, alright?"

Brian then turned to Antonio and asked, "Is this your idea?"
