Chapter 704 Mr. Lover
Still couldn't believe it, Harold exhaled heavily and asked in a deep voice, "How did he die?"
The assistant secretly breathed a sigh of relief and began to explain the whole sequence of events.
"The forensic report suggests that it was initially determined that he was driving under the influence, lost control, and crashed into a thicket. Because he wasn't wearing a seatbelt, he was thrown out and died on the spot."
That area was undeveloped.
Besides the thicket, there were jagged rocks below.
That was why Asa was so disfigured, with not a single patch of intact skin on his body.
Harold's eyes showed a hint of contemplation as he felt that something was off.
"Are you sure there's nothing wrong with the autopsy report?" he asked.
"I'm sure." The assistant confirmed, "We also had people check Asa's body, and it matched the forensic findings."
The whole thing was just an accident caused by drunk driving.
Thinking about all the efforts he had put into Asa from the beginning until now, Harold felt now it was all in vain.
He initially thought Asa was like him, someone who would stop at nothing to get Sarah.
That was why he chose him early on to sabotage Sarah and Antonio's relationship!
He thought, 'But now, this useless fool!'
'I've misjudged him!'
Harold angrily slapped the seat beside him, cursing, "That worthless piece of trash!"
Harold thought that even if Asa had to die, he should have taken Sarah with him!
At this moment, Sarah, whom Harold hated to the core, had rested well in the hospital overnight and received her test results. All her indicators were back to normal.
"When you go back, you still need to be careful. You're almost in the late stages of pregnancy, and any carelessness could disturb the baby."
The doctor handed back the test results and gave a few more reminders.
He said, "Especially your emotions. You need to keep it stable. You should avoid what happened yesterday."
Antonio, standing to the side, frowned at this.
He thought, 'Sarah was upset yesterday?'
'What happened?'
Sarah noticed his wary look but had no intention of explaining. She simply looked at the doctor and said, "Thank you, doctor. I'll be careful."
Then she turned and walked out without giving him a glance.
Antonio quickly grabbed the test results and followed her, speaking softly, "Sarah, walk slowly. Be careful of the steps."
After a while, he cautiously asked, "What happened yesterday?"
She thought, 'What could have upset me so much? Your lies!'
Despiter his concern, Sarah quickened her pace at this question.
Seeing the sudden coldness emanating from her, Antonio was both confused and more worried. He finally grabbed her and asked in a deep voice, "Tell me, Sarah, did something happen?"
Sarah suddenly stopped and looked at him with a half-smile.
"This shouldn't really be the concern of a lover, don't you think?"
The word "lover" struck Antonio like a jolt. He sighed in resignation and opened the backseat door. "Alright then. Let me give you a ride home."
Sarah didn't argue further. She shot him a cryptic glance before sliding into the car. Once the vehicle was in motion, she added, "You might not know this, but my ex-husband used to race cars. So he was quite the driver. I hope Mr. Harrington can keep up."
Antonio chuckled, unable to hide his amusement. "Alright then."
He wasn't sure how to describe his current feelings. All day and night, Sarah seemed to be comparing him to "Benjamin" in subtle ways. He thought, 'Is she really thinking about starting something up with Benjamin?'
The thought was too troubling to dwell on. Antonio preferred to remain in denial.
At least, for now, he had the chance to be close to Sarah, and that was enough for him.
When they arrived outside the villa, Antonio was still mulling over how to find a reason to see the kids.
Sarah looked at him calmly and said, "Thank you for driving me home. Why don't you come in for a drink?"
Antonio was thrilled. "That would be wonderful!"
He followed Sarah into the house with careful enthusiasm.
It was amusing how, despite this being his own house, he felt like a guest now, all because of Sarah's invitation.
Sarah glanced at him, a smile briefly touching her lips before she regained her composure.
She thought, 'So what if I'm angry with him? He deserves this!
'If he enjoys playing a role, then let him keep playing. If he's got the guts, he should never reveal his true identity!'
Just then, the children came rushing out when they heard the noise. "Mommy!"
They had checked the window first before running out, and their excitement grew even more when they saw Antonio. "Mr. Harrington!"
Antonio's smile was broad as he bent down to pick up Harper. "So, did you behave yourself last night?"
Harper nodded vigorously. "Yes!"
Ethan chimed in from the side. "Yeah! If it weren't for that old man who came this morning, we would've gone to the hospital with Grandpa to see Mommy!"
Sarah raised an eyebrow. "An old man?"
She thought, 'Could it be one of Dad's old friends?'
At that moment, Kevin walked out of the living room. His gaze lingered on Antonio's face for a couple of seconds before he said, "It's Mr. Harrington from the Harrington Group. He came by for a visit."
Although Kevin had only met "Benjamin" once before, due to health reasons, he was well-informed about everything that had happened. Seeing "Benjamin" up close, he couldn't help but feel a bit taken aback.
'Seriously, how can this not be Antonio?' Kevin thought, incredulous.
Antonio ignored Kevin's stare and, upon hearing the news, immediately changed his expression. He put Harper down and asked sharply, "How long has he been here?"
Sarah noticed his odd reaction, thinking, 'Isn't Harold his biological father? Why does it seem like he is showing some hostility?'
She didn't voice her confusion and instead looked at Kevin.
Kevin shot Antonio a meaningful glance before replying, "About an hour or so. Why?"
Antonio said nothing but strode into the living room with a grim expression. He quickly and thoroughly checked every hidden corner of the house, even the bathroom didn't escape his scrutiny.
He knew Harold well. If Harold had shown up, it wouldn't be just a casual visit.
Listening devices, pinhole cameras, or anything else!
The Harrington Group was deeply invested in high-tech research; the chip in Antonio's own body was proof of that!
Antonio shuddered to think what Harold might do if he used such methods against Sarah.
Fortunately, after his thorough inspection, nothing out of the ordinary was found. Harold hadn't left any surveillance equipment behind, as if he had truly just come to visit the Valencia family.
This was puzzling. Antonio had assumed Harold was targeting Sarah.
He thought, 'If that were the case, Harold would have left the moment he realized Sarah wasn't home. He's not the type to engage with strangers. But Harold still spent a long time talking with Kevin. Why? They don't even know each other.'
