Chapter 859 Just Talking Tough

Sarah couldn't help but smile and sighed softly, "I think Cynthia might be moved when she sees this. Will you come in with me to talk to her?"

"Yes." Antonio took a deep breath, brought her hand to his lips, and kissed it. "With you by my side, I have no reason to be afraid."

Sarah stared at Antonio's handsome face in front of her. It was clear he was as nervous as someone meeting their in-laws for the first time, despite claiming he wasn't scared!

"It's okay to be afraid. Don't worry, I'll definitely say some good things about you." She teased him as she followed Antonio inside. Almost as soon as they pushed the door open, the caregiver stepped aside from the bedside. "Mr. Valencia, Mrs. Valencia."

Sarah smiled and nodded, "Thank you for your hard work."

Her soft voice was instantly likable, making the caregiver smile shyly and gesture towards Cynthia on the bed.

"Mrs. Valencia, it's my duty. You go ahead and talk; I'll step out for now."

From the beginning, Cynthia had been staring at the screen with a stern face, not even glancing at them.

Sarah tentatively stepped forward, "Cynthia, we're here to see you."

She nudged Antonio with her elbow.

Antonio, with a flattering smile, placed the items he was holding on the bedside table. "Cynthia, I heard you like fruit. These were flown in specially for you. Please enjoy them."

Cynthia withdrew her gaze and gave the fruit a cold, hard look. "Who told you I like fruit? I don't!"

"Cynthia..." Sarah glanced at the fruit bowl beside her, which was almost empty except for one peach. She thought to herself, 'You really don't give any face, do you?'

But knowing Cynthia was already upset, she dared not say it out loud. Instead, she smiled and hugged Cynthia's arm, "If you really don't like it, that's fine. Just tell us what you want to eat, and we'll bring it next time."

"No need." Cynthia tried to push her hand away but gave up after two attempts, snorting coldly. "Didn't I make myself clear last time? I said I didn't want to see you anymore. Doing all this won't change anything. Don't think you can move me!"

At least she wasn't outright furious this time. It showed that the video had some effect.

Sarah and Antonio exchanged a glance, and she tightened her grip on Cynthia's hand. "Cynthia, I understand how you feel, but my mom has passed away. Can you understand me too?"

Her soft voice was almost like a plea, "I really want to see you."

Cynthia looked at her downcast eyes, and the anger she was about to unleash got stuck in her throat.

Antonio had been watching Cynthia's expression closely. Seizing the moment, he quickly said, "Cynthia, I know you're worried about Sarah, but we've been through so much together over the years."

"We can't lose each other anymore, and those adorable kids can't lose either of us."

At this point, Sarah quickly chimed in, "Yes."

She forcefully placed Cynthia's hand on her belly.

"Cynthia, feel this. The baby is almost here. You'll get to watch this child grow up. You're getting better now, so how about helping me take care of the baby? The baby will definitely love you!" As soon as she finished speaking, the baby moved as if in agreement.

Cynthia's eyes widened, and her hand froze.

Sarah laughed, "Cynthia, the baby is saying hello to you."

Cynthia's hand was held firmly, and a suspicious blush crept up her face. She stammered, "He... he's still in the belly. What could he know?"

"Cynthia." Sarah noticed the change in her expression and knew Cynthia was just being tough. Her eyes reddened, "You have no idea how grateful I am to have found you."

Her voice was so choked with emotion that even Antonio frowned.

He looked up at Cynthia, whose expression was unnatural, and sincerely said, "Cynthia, it's understandable that you don't trust me because of my background. But I swear on my life, I will always treat Sarah well and never let her suffer."

Cynthia looked at him with a hostile gaze. "Just because you say so, I should believe you?"

Sarah and Antonio fell silent.

"So what if you showed me all this? So what if you made all these promises? The easiest thing to change in this world is the human heart, especially someone like you..."

Cynthia stopped, but her expression made it clear she was referring to Antonio as Harold's son.

Sarah felt Cynthia was relatively calm now and hesitated before saying, "Cynthia, there's one more thing I didn't tell you last time."

"If you don't want to say it, don't." Cynthia glared at her, "It's not like anything you say will be good news."

"It has to be said." Seeing Cynthia's face soften a bit despite her scolding, Sarah leaned in and whispered, "Antonio does have Harold's blood, but aren't you curious about who his mother is?"

Cynthia was momentarily stunned by the soft voice.

Her complex gaze slowly swept over Antonio. The last time, she had been too angry and instinctively thought he resembled Harold. But now, looking closely, he must also resemble his mother.

If she thought along these lines, Antonio looked like Carte.

Cynthia's mind flashed to Carter's face, with her striking features, especially those eyes, almost identical to Antonio's! "You... you're Carter's child?"

Antonio nodded, "Yes, Cynthia, Carter is my mother."

"You..." Cynthia wanted to say something but trembled and finally sighed heavily, "This shouldn't have happened!"

Sarah knew she was upset and hugged her tighter, "Cynthia, don't worry, okay? Antonio is really different from Harold. He must have inherited from his mom."

"You just keep saying good things about him." Cynthia looked at Antonio and then at Sarah, clearly annoyed, but this time she didn't force them to leave.

The hospital atmosphere temporarily calmed down, while over at the Valencia Group, everyone was busy with work.

A taxi stopped in front of the building, and Ryan stepped out, smiling and thanking the driver through the window.
